I would absolutely vote to have no captain if I could. At the moment I don't think the possible advantages even remotely outweigh the dangers.

 

is that even a possibility? a ship without a captain sounds bad imo  :-\

 

and i'm with Wes on this. I'm interested in being alive a while in this game. so i'm not very interested in being the captain. i'm happy as long as its not a mafia captain. a double kill isnt exactly something I want  :P

second, we give this person power. and have to trust them to use it wisely.

If I could only know Sira's alignment, I would have her head this mission. Sadly, I would never trust her the whole time she was there...

We have to vote for someone. It's a dangerous position to hold. I don't want it. That means someone else must take it.

I'm sure the captain will die the first night if nothing else, which dying isn't anything new to me, so if you wish it, I'll take the captain spot. I highly don't want it, but then again, they do say the best leader are the ones thrust into the position not by choice but by circumstances. My innocence is something that can't be trusted for sure as there is no telling but we are at an impass and I definitely do not wish to see Vemy as captain and right now he's the only one with a vote on him. I will not vote myself at this time though, but if anyone accepts my offer to take the spot, then I shall vote for myself.

 

By the way, how many votes does it take to end the day? It should be 9 with a group of 16 right? But we don't want to drag the day on for too long now, that's for sure. Again, weigh what you think of me, and make your choice. Since no one seems to be jumping at the opportunity, and I'm not either, someone has to do it, and in my opinion, someone has to keep Vemy from that spot at the time being.

Leelou, seeing you were Sammael (not very active; though you were on the winning team), I'm more inclined to put you in the not-yet category. Sorry about that. Same for Twitch/Aginor. Safir, Kryos, Dark Justice I don't really know. So, I'm not gonna vote for these 5 yet. If you played in the first forsaken-game, say so. I'll judge for myself.

As I see it nuthouse I died off the bat, werewolve my plan failed horribly, vampire I exposed our healer day 1, WWW I spammed until everyone just said fine to shut me up :P

I'm not opposed to being captain, though in all reality it probably means my playing time will be short. I don't random vote, and I don't bandwagon, so it's not as though I'm going to be throwing around two votes at the drop of a hat. I'm a dreadfully consistent player, and I typically spend my time doing cases on people. I don't consider myself a needlessly pushy person, but I also don't sit idly by and lurk. Take that as you will, but I think the person we should choose is someone who isn't going to make rash decisions. No offense meant to anyone, of course. :D

 

Even if I'm not an option, I know that I would like someone who likes to justify their votes, and I want someone I know is going to use valid, justified reasoning behind their votes. Two votes per lynch can be crazy powerful.

I don't like this mindset. While I realize it possible that the captain will die sooner than others, I don't really think that this will happen. Because this is all how we expect it to be. The only time the Captain's spot becomes really dangerous, is if: A.) A member of the mafia gets the chair, or B.) We get someone who is a known bandwagoner, or doesn't justify their votes before throwing them around.

 

And can i get reasons for fearing me so much?

I don't fear you in the least, but I know that I wouldn't personally vote for you because you are the person who places votes on people "just to see what happens", or until "a better candidate comes along". But that's just me, I can't speak for anyone else. :P

I don't know about later games, but in your first two games (before my holiday/examinations/internet breakdown), you were one of the best players. Captains can't be too good players (in case they are evil); but have to make valuable additions to the game (in case they are good: they're very strong and have to be able to defend their opinion, or we'll have to re-elect a captain every day).

 

Alys, you won't get daykilled day 1. How's thát for a promise :D :-*  :P

 

I think the person we should choose is someone who isn't going to make rash decisions.

That's why I don't want the job, and probably why Alys' blunt "no".

Sure - then we have a dead finder the next morning. If there are any magic, bulletproof finders who want to step up for their double investigation, in the happy knowledge that they can't be night killed, that's great. But I somehow doubt our finder(s) are bulletproof. ;)

errr, i am confused as to why they would magically have to die. who would know who the finder is? unless the finder reveals or the evil team just plain doesn't agree... i can't see the evils allowing someone they don't agree with getting set up for very long. the captain will be a highly scrutinized role.

I figure it's pretty likely that any innocent who takes the role will be killed at night for exactly the reason you raised above - in case they become a double finder or double guard or double vig or whatever.

i was kind of figuring the opposite. wouldn't the captain be the most likely to be protected that night? it's a chance that the captain isn't going to be evil. they don't have the majority and don't want to out their team, right? some one would have to make a stand and be in a very vulnerable position, wouldn't they? why risk that? why kill the captain every time they don't get their way? random works much better because it doesn't establish an m.o. no predictable weakness. does this make sense?

 

I hate to just hand out ideas to the evil team, but someone needs to say these things to our side just to ensure that everyone has thought of the possibilities.

I don't know. I really think the likelihood that any roled character (other than perhaps a vig or mafia) would set themselves up for the Captain's chair is pretty slim. As nice as it would be to have that extra night action, is it really worth the risk? *hint hint NO hint hint* Besides, I think it would be to the mafia's detriment to constantly target the captains seat, since eventually people are going to be thrown up there whether they like it or not.

 

EDIT: I guess I was writing at the same time as Alys--I agree with most of what she said. :P

1) Talya not eliminated: I've only played with her (twice, both evil), and, yes, she can be convincingly, but she has never been able to convince ME.

I know thats because you have been evil with me ::)

 

Maybe we could ask the healer to save the captain during the night phase. I know it's a risk, and if the Captain is evil they won't be night killed anyway, unles a vig does it. That way they will at least be round for the next day.

Who to go for I really don't know, but offering to do it knowing they could be night killed is a tough call, unless they know that they won't be killed. So Kryos is a possibility. But I'm not going to vote just yet.

And I wouldn't be so quick to assume that more then 1 kill means the captain is evil. We don't have listed roles which means ilgross likely has made the roles all interesting this time round. Special roles we've seen before: finder/healer/vig hybrids or with small changes like kivam/be'lal's day time vig ability last game. We've also seen roles like the "bomb" which was amethea/lanfear last game.

 

Then there are evil player variants such as the godfather (viewed and shows up innocent), godfather (when dies shows up innocent), immune to night kills, symp, recruiter (what siryn said about the recruiter getting the captain role  worries me because if we start tomorrow with 9 players and 6 evils then we are screwed and its there win after 1 night. We wouldn't have even gotten a lynch in).

If the only purpose of the role is to double the role, then the chances of electing an mafia captain are the same as lynching a mafioso (slim, but not impossible)

I don't think we are assuming that at all. However, it will be very easy for an evil Captain to claim that there must have been vig kill if there happens to be two kills in a night. Hence my encouraging innocent roled players to not be captain.

I'm not sure as to who I want to vote for captain yet. I'm sorry Vem but I really don't see you as a candidate I would vote for.

 

I'm thinking with Kryos' skill as a chess player he does know strategy quite well and he is one of the people I could see being an influencial Mafia trying to get the Captain's position by not acting over earger but putting himself out there as wanting to be Captain.

 

FDM, I personally only played wiith you once and that was in Nuthouse, but you changed roles so many times that I really didn't get a feel for your style.

 

Out of everyone here the people I know the best are ones I have had as teammates in prior games. They are Talya, Alys, Twitch, Boyd and Safir. Three haven't shown up yet so I haven't been able to get a feel for them yet in this game.

Talya- again: I’d be willing, same reasons as sboyd and danya.

Sirayn- little worried of siryn’s infamous rep, but it works both ways if shes good as well. I’d be willing.

Mr. Soy Boyo- Yeah, I’ve read sboyd pretty well when I’ve played vs him. I’d vote him.

Far Dareis Mai- Seems to want the position, that’s either good or bad. But we gonna pick one and I’ll pick her if its almost hers anyways. Yes.

DreadPirateRoberts- doesn’t want it but I’d be willing. Yes.

Dark Justice- hmm first real game…but dark has a knack for hitting the evils on the head. This is assuming he’s indeed innocent. I’d be willing, but of the same level I’m willing with kryos.

Danya- hmm I’d be willing to vote danya for it, I was able to read her in vampire game and suras game so I’d trust her with the position.

Kryos- newer player and his first real game. But of all the new players I think kryos has what it takes. Mind that doesn’t mean he’s a best candidate. But he never bandwagons that I’ve seen and he has a very good analytical mind. Yes here.

Safir- His first real game, so I’ll say no for now.

Barmacral- In the suras game when he turned evil he was way up and beyond my playing ability. I would never have thought he was the evil. So no here.

and my inspiration to do this write up came from the idea that an evil is more likely to do what kryos did then to be all "vote *me*" and draw attention to themselves. Which is another reason why I settled for fdm because thats what shes doing.
