The problem with re-reading the series... *Mild Spoilers past book 5*

... the ONLY problem i've come across, is the FRUSTRATION I feel when something happens, I know the outcome / the truth (having read the series before) but the characters dont see it.

A few examples;

Dashiva - Rand has just chosen him as his 'companion' following Dumai's Wells... NOOOOOO!!! He's Osan'gar!!

Moghedien - Halima has just freed Moggy in Salidar. Egwene (feeling only the male touch to the a'dam) thinks it's Logain.

Min / Rand - (book 6) get on with it already!! He's going to fall madly in love with you and you'll 'make his blood boil'.

Morgase - she's alive! Gawyn stop being a prat and support Rand. He-did-not-kill-your-mother.

and others.

Does anyone else get this! Its stupid because its purely the benefit of hindsight but sometimes it does make me tut and sigh...

Hee... part of the entertainment value for me in these is that even on the first read, the reader knows far more than any of the characters, so I was doing a lot of that the first time through.  It's a little like watching a horror movie where you're yelling at the screen, "Don't go in the basement! Oh, oh, you did."  :)

I think that's kind of fun.

Haha, I totally agree with all of you! I am sitting here reading them thinking, if only Perrin would have a rockin house party in that fancy new manor of his, so everyone can talk about what they've been up to. lol

Honestly, it doesn't matter how many times you've read them, first or fiftieth, you are always thinking 'why don't these people get together and tell what they know'!

they need that share-the-love party, seriously!  :P

For having such great methods of communication (i.e. TAR, Traveling), they sure do a sucky job lettin' each other know what's going on

Morgase - she's alive! Gawyn stop being a prat and support Rand. He-did-not-kill-your-mother.

hehe, this one truly gets me

It is EXTREMELY frustrating but that half the fun.

The one that gets me is Nynaeve and the male a'dam.

TELL HIM, TELL HIM!! For the love of the light TELL HIM :P

These are the things I try to really pay attention to in the re-read.  What signs did I miss that Dashiva was a bad guy.  I pay much closer attention to reactions and such to see if I can identify things I missed before.  I espcially do this with Taim.

I like knowing some of these things in the re-read.

Oh same with me, I did not see Lan and Nynaeve coming til a reread.

The only thing that really pulls my strings is Gawyn hating Rand.  What idiot believes every rumor he hears over the word of the woman he loves and trusts?? This urks me... I had the stray thought, with no factual evidence whatsoever, that Gawyn is going to die, Galad live and marry Egwene.  Oh how ironic that would be.  I'm hoping he learns the truth instead though, and maybe marries someone else, I want to see Galad and Egwene get married, Galad needs somebody to love him and I don't think Egwene really loves Gawyn.  When she thought another women may have bonded him in LoC she didn't even feel any real anger.  But Gawyn was such a sweet character before I hate to see him take such a depressing turn.

WHoa whoa whoa... where does the conclusion come from that Dashiva is one of the Forsaken? IF he was Osangar would he channel sadair? Rand would have picked up on that the moment he didn't channel saidin. Please enlighten. I've read the series through a few times and i've never come that that conclusion before. Or am i getting my forsaken mixed up?

A lot of these things are clearer on a reread.  Take a careful look at LoC where Aran'gar and Osan'gar are introduced.  A lot of things aren't spelled out, but the traits and abilities are mentioned.  Also see http://wotmania.com/faqtopic.asp?ID=27

Osan'gar and Aran'gar are the two Forsaken that got killed in tEotW (Ishamael survived with burns).  Both are male, and channel saidin.  Balthamel (Aran'gar) got placed into a woman's body, and infiltrated the rebels under the name Halima.  Aginor (Osan'gar) got a male body and infiltrated the Asha'man under the name Dashiva.  As of KoD, Aran'gar is still at large.

The funny part about Osan'gar getting blotted again by Elza Penfell (Green/Black Ajah) at the battle around the cleansing is that Elza was deliberately pulling her punches; she was melding the flows of a combined ring (two women, one man), and sent blasts of only saidar against the attacking Forsaken (intended to disrupt, not to kill, giving the appearance of fighting).  Then she sees the "rebel Asha'man" Dashiva, and decides that saidin would be a great way to take him out (and oh, the top of the hill, too).  The Great Lord surely would not be upset by the loss of some rebel Asha'man, not like he would if she had blasted a Chosen!  Based on recycle time, I am guessing that Osan'gar/Aginor is out of action for the duration.
