  1. 1- Lan had him arrested. I think that's the last we hear of him. 2- Agreed. Very much agreed.
  2. The saddest moment in the book for me was probably when Faile left Olver by himself, surrounded by Trollocs, and he crawled into a hole in the rocks to get away. Ever since becoming a dad, I'm a softy when it comes to the plight of children. I got a little teary when Noal came to his rescue. Egwene's death was saddening to me too, probably just because she seemed invincible to me. I never really liked Egwene, but I can no longer say that I dislike her after AMoL.
  3. Exactly. I think 99% of people in this thread need to go back and read page 891. The DO is evil incarnate. He doesn't really affect the world because he exists outside of the patter. He isn't really a threat to the world unless greedy people make him that way. It was the greed of the people in the AoL that broke open his prison, but even then he would have been relatively harmless without the Forsaken selling themselves to him in exchange for the True Power. Without all of his minions all of which either chose to follow him or were compelled to follow him by others that followed him: it seems like his power to affect the world is actually pretty insignificant. I contend that Rand was exactly right. The DO is necessary and the Creator intentionally entombed him (read: evil/potential for evil) near the pattern, so that people could have real freedom to choose. I don't even just want to call him the embodiment of evil. He's the manifestation of a whole host of possible personality traits. It seems like if he was eliminated everyone would be like Galad (though with no concept of violence), always doing the "right" thing. People would be stripped of their ability to do otherwise, or be otherwise. It would completely change everyone Rand knows and loves, too, stripping them of much of their personality away from people he knows. And if they can't conceive anything negative, then they're not even making a choice. They're not acting good because it's moral, they're acting good because it's all that is. It's not like Satan where he's there to tempt people, it's as if he's just the embodiment of a force. I'm not quite sure if I like Rand's solution to not touching the Dark One. I feel like we talked to death about the idea of using the TP to touch the DO and ruled that out. Well said. I didn't really like the way the TP was used as a barrier either. It was laughable that he couldn't cut someone off to the TP because they had drawn too much. He cuts people off from the TP all the time in the series. Would've preferred the Fain alternative as we've already seen the power of SL used to clean the Taint.

  5. This is the problem that I have with the text also. I'm not sure where the bathroom fetish comes from though. I didn't even notice it was missing.
  6. I would have to say Mat, Rand, and Thom in that order. Followed by: Nynaeve, Moiraine, and Narg.
  7. Actually as of late, I find Nynaeve quite likeable. The most likeable among the women in fact. The problem is that the rest of the women are all retards. Straight up. Egwene's trying to do a repeat of the last time LTT sealed the bore and the female aes sedai were too stubborn to help. That might be a good thing judging from what happened to the males, but who knows they may have done better if the females had helped. He is the freaking Dragon Reborn. Help him out you short bus riding Aes Sedai!
  8. RJ has confirmed that Lews Therin and Rand are actually the same soul. There is only one soul. So actually Lews Therins manifestations are probably just memories that somehow carried over and Rand has created dual personalities in order to convince himself that he is not crazy (when Rand does crazy things or thinks violent thoughts).
  9. Agreed. Mat is falling in love with Tuon so there's nothing you can do about it. Anyway, Tuon isn't really that annoying as far as the nobles go, she's one of the more pleasant ones--and she IS quite the noble.
  10. I understood it just fine. It just wasn't that funny. I agree with RAW, the real humor is how the maidens and Rand respond to eachother.
  11. None of that really means anything anyway. Two of those places are super weak and that's why he has positions of authority in them in the first place. His connections with Saldea are pretty impressive though. Between Saldea and the amazing things he can do with his wolf buddies he has potential.
  12. I haven't read the books for a while (don't worry I'm going to) so I can't provide any actual evidence, but I remember being pretty convinced that Sheriam was a DF. So I believe Sheriam is a DF. The rest of you can RAFO ;D
  13. Elayne is obviously a darkfriend. Her children will be trollocs. Rand will go into a raging madness and kill her. Then he will say "Oh my Elayne...what have I done!?!?" Then he will channel a huge amount of the OP and make another dragonmount. Then Lews Therin will laugh at him. THE END.
  14. The Cleansing of the Taint Dumai's Well (Probably the only time I've actually appreciated Taim) Rand goes crazy on the Seanchan Thom Vs. The Fade Rand kills his first trolloc with his daddy's sword The death of the Greenman Anytime Mat is a bad ____, or anything that includes the Band of the Red Hand.
  15. I don't think Elayne is going to die, but it is possible and since I REALLY don't like her, there it is.
