I'm Samarah of Arafell

Hello! I'm new here but I've been looking around and really like what I see.

 

I'm on my third reading of the epic series WoT (currently reading "Crossroads of Twilight"). My first turn was in the early 00's. I really enjoyed the series but there are so many books to read that I didn't get around to my second reading until Amazon released the WoT series. 

 

While it was fun to see some of my favorite characters come to life with their amazing casting choices (except for Mat...I have thoughts), I was a bit disappointed in how the writers and creators chose to introduce Randland. The opening scene introduces the Red Ajah and not Emond's Field. The series finally gets good in season 3 and then they go and cancel it! Sigh. But I digress...

 

I'd love some tips on how things are run here. If I were an RJ character in the Wheel of Time, I would be Samarah of Arafell, Accepted in the White Tower striving to be a Yellow. My family are farmers, south of the Blight but always wary of Shadowspawn. I've already eyed a training Warder that I have my heart set on. I'm not complicated. I just want to heal people. That's my only ambition.

 

I hope to find community here. From what I've seen, it's pretty great.

Most of the time, someone will reach out to you, but have a look around and ask questions on the threads and you should get answers to your questions. And, most of all, have fun! Hi Samarah. Welcome to Dragonmount. There are various Social Orgs that you can join and each has its own way of doing things.

 

Your intro seems like you might be also interested in our Role Playing group. I've never joined but it's a bit further down the page I think.

 

In the Social Side of the White Tower we only do a Lite form of roleplay and we can eventually Bond real people we've become close with

There's so much fun! I can hardly find it all! Embracing my dark side would be interesting. Everyone here is so kind and welcoming. It's incredibly generous for people to comment "shortcuts" on intro pages, especially considering the detailed posts others have made (which I am certainly also reading!), about how to get started here. 

 

I'll do my due diligence as a new member, that's only fair as I'm coming in on the backs of so many engaging and fastidious members, I just hope that in my excitement to engage, I can temper my overzealousness (Who want to be a Whitecloak, amiright? :).

Aaahhh Whitecloaks aren't SO bad - I have the Lord Captain Commander to tea, sometimes! 

Obviously we each bring our own ... one can never be too careful 🙂

Light! I couldn't feel more welcome. I've got the warm and fuzzies. 🥰

 

I first started reading the books in the 00's. Maybe 2008? Waiting for new novels was excruciating but worth it. I started rereading when I saw Amazon advertise the series. 

 

My favorite character is Olver. He's an incorrigible little rascal and I cry everytime reading how he saved the Horn of Valere and blows it just in time. 

 

I'd probably be an Aes Sedai but more like Anaiya. I don't have the heart to be a schemer. Secrets make me feel dirty so, I'd likely not be a very good Aes Sedai. 😉 If there were such a thing as a Wolfsister, I'd like to be one. 

 

I wouldn't dare pick a favorite book from the series. As soon as I did, I'd remember why another of the books is my favorite and round and round I'd go. But my favorite moment I've already told you about; Olver blowing the Horn. Or, maybe when Rand finds himself on the peak of Dragonmount, finally freeing himself of the Dark One's influence. Actually, it could be when Egwene saves the Tower from the Seanchan. But, I really like the part when Mat buys Akein for Tuon and presents it to her. See, here I go...I could list a dozen more and still have another dozen favorites.

 

I'll be popping into the chats and other fun stuff soon. I like to lurk for a bit, read the room, if you will. I am very much looking forward to getting to know everyone better.

Why did you pick the Grey? I'm a Yellow, but, if I didn't enjoy Healing, and learning new ways to Heal, I would have picked Grey, too. Negotiating, bringing two or more parties together to see past their differences, finding compromises...it's another type of Healing, right?
