never played Bioshock soooo yeah

we have seen numerous games on this website where a new player fumbled their way into an immediate d1  exist, so much so that "newbie pass" became a thing for awhile, but then we started getting "newbies" that would take advantage of said "newbie pass" and bamboozle the whole game. This game is very volatile and a lot to take in for new players so the metaphor is quite apt, heck it aptly describes even my first game, though I think I survived til day 3.

So instead of them being treated with respect and them exiting on D1 due to their own play (obviously not the people voting for them) it is better to insult them and treat them like children that are in danger of disrupting your game?

Hard disagree.

Guys if you are really saying that only established players deserve respect I think you need to rethink your biases against new players.

I cannot believe this is even an issue. I'm not ever going to let someone call new players a danger to themselves and those around them without saying something so maybe just stop making or supporting that analogy, however it was meant?

I do get concerned with having a bias towards people who post a lot.

If people post more, the bored will stop spamming...since we will have actual game topic to speak on...Besides, let D1 be D1

No one is saying any of the things you've claimed all game... are you sure you're reading the same thread as everyone else?

Seem to remember some "experienced" players starting some town trains then being like, "oh well.." when the townie is gone

This.  Heavy is giving way too much weight to this.

the premise is new players can often be a wild card and act outside normal game culture.  A lot of times they get lynched day 1 because of this.

Scum can find it easy to build or jump on newbie trains without much risk because when they flip town every says it was the newbs fault for playing poorly.

second time having to write this out. First post disappeared.

If it's any consolation, on desktop, it's easier to copy-paste your entire post before you move to another page just in case everything gets lost.

If you're on mobile, sometimes it's safer not to to on a multi-page tear... But if you do, don't have multiple tabs open on DM.

Because what happens is, if you click in the text editor box at all, DM can be a real pain in the ass and decide to just disappear your post.

Also, make sure you click the text editor box before you go and click and add a new quote on a new page, or you will lose everything. (This is true on mobile or desktop!)

Ask me how I know??

BS.

The premise is new players are stupid and cannot find their own rear ends with both hands. An unknown quantity does not mean illogical or poor play.

And wolves can only easily jump on new players if you normalise jumping on new players as town behaviour.

Wolves taking advantage of you is part of the game. Having everyone treat you like a second class player because you are new should not be, yet currently is.

I will absolutely die on this hill. This should not be any part of the game, it is insane that you are arguing that new players should be treated differently.

It seems that a lot of the people here now haven't played in years or have played in other places.  To me, if you have played 100 games and are part of a lynch on a townie on D1, there's still a lot of learning to be done as you just got yourself played...

If you've been playing Poker or Black Jack with someone for 30 years, you're going to have a better understanding of their tells. Right?

If a Someone new walks up to the table, and whether it's their first time playing poker/black jack, or the first time you've played with them. They're a wild card. You don't know their tells. You don't know them from Steve.

In Mafia terms, you don't know if they're acting like town by hunting for information. Nor do you know if they're wolf trying to hard at being town trying to get information.

You don't know if a logical inconsistency they brought up is them being a manipulative wolf, or if that's just their personality.

So no one is intentionally treating anyone new as a second class player. It's merely stating a fact that someone new is someone to be wary of. They are a wild card.

In terms of wild cards, I think the players with the least number of games played on DM is Teph, Heavy, and I, right?
Is GK new as well? I can't recall. My brains starting to sizzle.

Heavy, I think you’re taking things in a direction that nobody intended.

Seriously, this game is not about treating anyone badly because they are new.

This game is about guessing who’s who and provocation is a part of trying to induce reactions.

Everyone is happy for as many people to play as can be, believe me.

How do you best propose we catch a wolf on D1?

Who's trying to solve vs who's slanking is a good start

And if RL scheduled don’t line up with that? What then?

So, Who is trying to solve the game...?  At this point I would say DPR, GK & Heavy.  I just got home and took a bit to catch up, but I feel top town so far on these 3, based only on trying to solve the game.  Using other criteria may give different answers.

Who is slanking?  Ed came back and pretty much just answered posts without any substance.  Peace... we shall see.  Should we even start on Dice?

RL?  I work 11 hour days and cook for a family of 8 while running an Ebay store.  I understand RL and fit it in.  There may be day to day exceptions, but if not dont sign up

Folks, lynches are a part of the game - no need to treat things any other way. You shrug, hope the town learns lots from it and sign up for the next game.

Trying to incorporate justice and personal values into an online guessing game is an exercise in futility.

Have a laugh, cheer when somebody pulls off a clever trick and enjoy. We’re all friends here.

Just because you’re able to do it doesn’t mean everyone else is lol. Especially during a single day.

If slanking becomes a multi-day trend, then yeah, time for a rope necklace.

My point being that it’s not easy to catch a wolf on d1 and mislynches happen, so best not to put too much emphasis on them.

Took out of context... Day to day means an extended period.  Pretty good misrep there lol

Let's get to hunting wolves then. And that will go easier if everyone is suspected and everyone's intuition and reasoning is listened to.

This is a long day. Things will get heated and to point as DL approaches. We need to sound each other out so it would be great if everyone could contribute.

I wouldn't include Heavy here, Heavy may be vocal but far from actively progressing the game.
