Books 1-3. The introduction to the series. Opinions differ on these books. What do you think about them? How do they fit in with the rest of the series? Are any of them your favourites? Tell all!  ;D

PoA is one of my favorites in the series.

When we first started reading book one, SS, it opened a new world and was so exciting. It was hard waiting for book 3 to come out. I say we because the first 3 books my boys and I read together. We would each take turns reading 2-3 pages each a night. About half way through it became 2-3 chapters a night till we were done. I have very fond memories of my first read through with my boys.

I think they fit in well and basically set the stage for the later books.

IMO the third one is the best by far and the second one is the worst by far. But I like how the first book is a sort of social phenomenon, everyone has at least heard of it, most have at least started it, people are obliged to read it school and so on.

Apparently I'm with the general concensus, I also think the PoA was the best of the first three.  It starts to set the darker theme to the books, and shows a more mature set of characters.  I have to also agree that CoS is my least favorite book.  Still a great book, don't get me wrong, just comes in last if I put them in order of greatness.. :)  SS/PS will always be the most magical to me because it's the introduction to the fantastic world of HP!

You know, I have to say that CoS was the only one that I actually had to see the movie to appreciate. Is that weird? During the reread I would see Guilderoy as he was in the movie and laugh. The first time I read it, he just irritated me.  ::)

Of the three, I pick PoA as my favorite. Great characters and action.

You know, now that I think about it, I never really read the first book.  In my 6th grade class we read it for English, only, I only listened to the teacher read, I never actually read it.  *smacks head for his stupidity*

Azkaban is my favourite too. I sort of struggle reading the first two books because JKR's style is much more child orientated in those books. Six has helped me see two in a different light, but I still think it is my least favourite of the series!

the 6th bok is my favorite but the 2nd and 3rd are my 2nd and 3rd favorites.

the first is actually my last in the series, I really like the darker themes that have been constantly introduced as the series has progressed and book 1 was a fairy tail kinda.

PoA does set a darker tone...and CoS does have an annoying DA professor.  I actually think I liked the first one best because of the movie.  The challenges seemed so...so...wierd.  The chess game was really crazy, the keys attacked you...what else could you ask for?

I must confess I love all the books  :)

It's the last few movies that p me off a bit - I HATE it when the movies don't stick to the books  >:(

I'm a bit apprehensive about the new book, though.  I don't like it when the nice people die.  If I wanted reality, I'd stick to reading the newspapers.
