Dear gentle people of the jury, I implore you to consider the case of Hallia, who has been accused of being a wolf.  My only goal here is to seek the truth.  Should the kind people of the jury find she is fit to be punished, then so be it.  I begin my case by looking at several interactions Hallia had over the last day.

 

This came right at the start of the game.  The post pinged me a bit at the time, and on reread early, I got the same feeling.  I thought the "solid town core atm" read a little weird, particularly the comment about Lenlo.  I thought the read was generous at best, because up to that point, Lenlo was pretty focused on mechanics.  I also think putting both AJ and Chris in the town core so early is...well...something.

This was the post Darc thought was a bit pingy because Hallia specified being town.  I know that it's something that Darc doesn't like, so I'm not surprised she commented on it.  And yeah, it might be a little nitpicky, especially if it's something that Hallia does frequently.  But there isn't really a reason for town!Hallia to specify which team she meant, because it's implied in the comment.  Mafia!hallia would know if they are on the same team or not.

It's really the first post with any sort of specific game comments, so I kind of get where people were seeing it as possibly more AI than anything else posted.  Maybe it was a decent observation; AJ and Cass seemed to think it was at least, but I guess I'm not sure that a scum!Hallia couldn't have made the same comment.  And Cass's point about there being other reasons for AJ being happy, other than being town, are valid enough.  Hallia never comes back to comment on this, but agrees in a later post with Kat that she has some tinfoil on AJ/Chris being teammates, despite reading them both as town.

 

There is an extended absence from Hallia at this point.

What triggers you about it?  I don't really recall playing with you and ever butting heads, but I also don't really recall any games where we've played together and we had any crazy interaction for good or bad.  

 

Nyn plays the aloof game regardless of alignment sometimes, with sassy answers that aren't of themselves bad, but I do really enjoy when she puts more in, because I feel like when she gets super involved, she's a force to be reckoned with.  10/10 want more of her 

 

The comment about quietness was about Darthe.  Easy to agree with, he hasn't done much.

 

Solidly agrees with Kat about always wanting to read Chris/AJ town, but having tinfoil that AJ is happy because he's teamed with Chris.  Which is fair enough, I felt the same, it's just not very anything.  Again, something that's very easy to agree with, and doesn't add any of her own thoughts to it.  

 

The comment about the triggering was about Hallia being too comfortable with Cass.  Cass clarifies that it was more the vote that was bugging her.

 

I think this was to Cass, but there wasn't a quote attached to it.  I think this is more about why Hallia is reading Cass town.  Again, it's a bit vague on what exactly they agreed on.  I get that mindmelds are a thing, but there was nothing specific pointed out, so it's really hard to judge what exactly it was she agreed with Cass.  This entire back and forth with Cass feels a bit pockety.  I don't think scum!hallia and scum!Cass interact this much or in this way, so I think it's unlikely they are teamed, even if i wasn't already reading Cass as town.

Up to this point Hallia has said exactly 1 thing about Lenlo and that was back on page 6-7.  Most of her conversation has been around AJ/Chris/Cass.  I think this is the first time she's interacted directly with Lenlo.  Cass asks for an explanation.

The only thing that gives me pause there is that Lenlo said he gets more excited when playing wolf.  But would you say that if you were wolf?  I don't think he would imo.

So...Lenlo is one of her townier reads, but she doesn't know that Lenlo was pushing an AJ lynch, another of her town reads?  Comments on Lenlo saying he gets more excited when playing wolf, and then tries to write off the comment as "nah, probably wouldn't say that as wolf."  That seems inconsistent.  I mean, I get feeling that way about someone early, but if you're somewhat caught up, how did you miss the fight between Lenlo/AJ.  And if you're not, how do you know they are still a towny read if you're basing it solely on how you felt about them yesterday when some 20+ pages of things had happen at this point?

The tone there just comes across as unnecessarily defensive for what Darc said.  Darc's comment was about Hallia stating that she hoped she was on the same team as somebody - I don't remember who - and stated that it's town.  I don't think that's particularly damning, but I also didn't mind Darc pointing it out at all.

 

 

This was kind of weird to me.  She's not wrong in any way that Darthe has been quiet - I mean, it was MY post she was agreeing with.  But Hallia hasn't been particularly active, Darthe hasn't been the only one quiet (tbf, Hallia didn't say she wouldn't lynch other inactives), and Darthe has games where he just doesn't post much so it felt....really weird.

 

 

This was just a giant question mark.  I'm not sure when she was referring to, but until last night, I thought Lenlo was pretty much rand to be anything.  

 

 

All of this is really weak, but in a game where most people have either sounded pretty good overall or been null, probably my best "lead".  The only other thing that's felt wrong to me so far have been BWN's pop-in/out, and AJ's respond to Lenlo for what I thought was a reasonable starting point.

Hallia never makes it back after this.  So Hallia, if you could answer Chris's question in your rebuttal that'd be great. 

 

The whole thing about Lenlo felt really weird to me.  Like, there is little explanation of the read, no real expansion on it, no real progression.  It's just there, and for Lenlo being one of her townier reads, she interacted with him exactly once.  I don't know how she normally plays, but I find that I tend to interact a lot with my town reads.  Granted she didn't have a lot of posts, but she really only interacted with Cass.  I'm not sure she instigated an interaction with another player.  She mostly just responded to things other people had said without asking any of her own questions or really adding many of her own thoughts.  There is a general lack of curiosity and desire to solve the game that just rubs me the wrong way.  She seemed weirdly defensive about the comment Darc had about her read on Hallia.  I can see that it if was a misunderstanding, maybe, but the defensiveness kind of continued with Chris, someone she had said she was more or less town reading as far as I can tell based on her few comments.  I get being frustrated if you feel like people aren't reading your posts, but if you haven't actually explained things sufficiently, I don't really understand the reaction.

 

Similarly, she says she's curious about seeing the interaction between AJ/Dice.  There is no follow up on the comment later.   She also says she's curious to see how her and Dice interact.  I'm not sure they interacted once.  If they did, it was only from Dice commenting on something she said and not the other way around.  I found her scope of people she interacted with to be exceptionally narrow, especially given how active the game was.  I realize she got behind, but even her early interactions when there wasn't as much to get caught up on, she didn't really interact with other people that much.  

 

So I ask you, good people (and kangaroos), do you think this is enough to condemn Hallia?  I ask you to consider it closely.

I can't think of anything I'd really do differently; I played as often as I could and was as honest as I know how to be.  I've been called snarky in the last like three games that I've played.  I think that's more to do with being more confident as a person, as I have become over the last year.  I do believe that's going to clash when I don't interact with a lot of people here as much as we had a rather spotty game schedule the last year or so.  I do expect this to continue, and so I won't apologize for that.  

 

I'm town, not quite sure why I was picked but that's their choice.  I can only ask that you read my posts (all of them) and make whatever choice you deem best.  Either way it's been fun thus far.  And I'd like the journey to go ever on and on.
