As town I do it. Reread the first game I played after my hiatus, some time in late 2016. You and Nyn wanted me dead by the end of day 1 and I couldn't handle it.

So here's an interesting thing, (cop, tracker, roleblock, doc, vigilante and mirror These are the things that Hallia could give. Tracker + Watcher wouldn't both be on the same side regardless of whatever happened night one.

@Krakalakachkn answer is, people panic when backed into a corner. they stop looking at all the pieces and focus on small sections not really noticing where they fit together.

Honestly I don't feel backed into a corner.  I did what you are saying once before, a while ago in one of Aiel Heart's games and I'll never do it again bc I'd rather take the chance I can talk my way out of it.
