On a different note, I personally am starting to see the benefits of combining the old and new playstyle. We can't solely hunt scum or town, it has to be both. Eliminate those who are most likely to be town from suspicions, and then scum hunt from the remaining pool.

Kudos to the scum team for the bold play d1 with the wolf heads thing.

My M:tG inno face card with werewolf in the bottom text was better.

I'm beginning to see a pattern emerge where the main Mafia forum is high stakes play and the BT/Thak games are more just for casual fun.  Might just be a coincidence but I kind of like that, and I don't intend to play anything like my usual high octane game in the BT one I'm currently signed up for.  Maybe we could try to make that more of a thing so people who don't enjoy one atmosphere can still find a comfort zone?

So... We should make it ok to personally insult people on this board, while it's not accepted in the social groups? I honestly see it as against what the site stands for.

Y'all did great, this game is tough and all that. I would actually like to talk about the high tensions now that we are all on the same side, if we can do that peacefully. I've played quite a bit of mafia, this is probably about my 35th game and this game had more personal shots at people than I have ever seen before. In my memory, the game used to be about what was said, logically building a case. Not who you're friends with, who you know best, and who you don't want to be a wolf. Now I personally feel like I shouldn't be playing because I'm no longer in the "in crowd" that all know each other. I'm not saying meta is bad, it is effective sometimes, but this game was entirely too personal the whole way through.

Not even talking about Nyn btw, because what she said wasn't actually intended to be hurtful, it just ended up striking something and that is. Whole separate and private issue between those involved.

Well put, this is the major criticism us "older" players have with the newer methods. They work, sure......but they aren't fun, and I play this game to have fun. When that fun is removed, I don't play.

Hence why I no longer play much.

I said the same thing in dt. I am more than aware of how the game is played elsewhere and how personal it can get but I didn't expect it here. I also explained that my reaction to what was originally said was a major overreaction. I should have spoke with Sooh about it but I didn't and that was my mistake but I often spoke to "shanti" about how warm and welcome it is here. Of course there are always exceptions to the rule because "that's just them". I understand that what was said was something completely not personal but I have apologized for my overreaction. That's all I can do. Everyone else on this site has defended some people saying, "if they knew even part of the circumstances then they would apologize" but that's untrue and we all know it, because "that's just how they are". I'm about to make your day though darlin because this is my last time on DM. But I'd like to leave you with one final thought, since you aren't like me and don't know how to apologize about even unintentionally doing something wrong I'll hand some of your own advice back to you

Gfy!

I just want to pop in to clarify a couple things. First off, having played on many different sites, a majority for 3+ games, this sort of thing is not regular. Anywhere. There are no forums I've played on where this sort of stuff is okay. I've played on dragonmount a fair amount. This is not regular. I get that it made the game unfun. Things like those do. The problem is, what then? How do we improve on that situation. In my opinion, a failure on the side of the community is when exactly this happens. When people stop playing because they've had issues, whatever they are, with other players. Why is it a failure? One person has to stop playing mafia, which they'd rather not all things being equal, and this then depletes the level of pleasant and fun players. And I know it's not clear-cut or simple, but if an issue has been taken to moderation and not resolved, and keeps occurring on a regular basis over a long period of time, there's not much else to do. But each person that leaves is a huge blow to the community. The gist of this is if you feel like your only choice is to leave, I get that. If you feel like you've seen this and you can't seem to play a game without stuff like this coming up, that's realistic. If not, if this is an isolated incident or something that's not representative of the DM culture at large, which I feel like it really is, everyone would prefer not to see you go. It's up to you in the end, but either way, you leaving would be a significant loss.

gg all and thanks for playing

good job shanti and tigs in particular

I don't think Shad's saying personal attacks should be okay on the main board, just that the games are more competitive than social groups (which is pretty much how it's been).

To some extent there is a correlation I'm sure, as more competitive games = higher time investment & personal investment = likeliness of conflict, but that's not the intent, just an unfortunate side effect. The goal here would be to make our more competitive & heated games to be as civil as possible, limit game-to-game vindictiveness & personal attacks.

It can be a thin line between the conflict the game presents by nature and our own personal conflict with others, but finding that line and abiding by it, imo, is good for the game & good for the forum.

I've always thought there's a certain sense of satisfaction from playing to one's wincon and doing due diligence after being peeked red, even if it wouldn't ever make a difference.

That moment when you're still not part of the group despite eating a bullet and accidentally creating an alignment indicative situation that helped catch two of the mafia

Standard practice is to release it once all members have ok'd it
