@ Tig I'd be more than willing to share some armchair philosophy on play styles one of these days, can't give you an essay tonight but maybe we can have a candle light dinner in post-game or something.  What I'd say for now is while our style might be unfamiliar to you, you've been around the block, so presumably you have methods in your head for determining who you think is most likely to be wolf and generally framing a vision of the most likely scenarios that could play out.  It doesn't have to be right and maybe you're right and we're all wrong, but the more you show your work the easier it will be for the rest of us to figure out what's going on inside your head.

I understand the wait-and-see logic regarding the SK. My MO is to speculate on game setup, but that did not go over well last game, or the game before as it's only been heard as wifom, so I'm intentionally avoiding it. Even though I really, really want to talk about it... but I digress.

I'm avoiding setup spec because A.) we just lost last game because of it and the fighting, and B.) what's the point? We got mafia and we got town. Lynch the people playing like scum. Keep it simple.

So, I begin with A.) and explain something that has been ignored over and over this game - why we lost the last game. ed knows. Tress knows. Clov did know. I've been really ultra-clear that I take responsibility for part of that and am not going to repeat it this game. 

 

Seems simple enough to me. Why it keeps getting lost in the shuffle seems odd...

 

Part B.) is a very clear way of me explaining that I have and will focus on scum hunting. I've not speculated on the possible setup combos, or possible roles. Ain't gonna do it, in large part due to the fact that mod confirmed she changed it. So you tell me what the point of speculation is?

 

You trying to say my interest in mechanics was abandoned is laughable.

 

You are creating a narrative to fit what you want to others to see - you are not looking at the game with the purpose of solving it. Cory throws around votes without reasons, fishing to see what the crowd wants to do, and you swing in and push the direction with "analysis" of how the game should go.

 

But aside from teammates, I'll bet there's not a player out there that doesn't have at least a small suspicion that you two are having everyone on. Your post about astute scum needing a leader is priceless - and looked who stepped in to lead, but isn't really leading per say.

 

Do me a favor and answer two questions:

 

1. Do think it's alright that Cory doesn't give reasons for his votes?

2. How would your slot play if you were scum?

I'm a bit detached aorn (and the reason why i typically vote with no reasoning has to do more with my meta - is people know that i'm typically voting someone because they are the person i feel is mostly likely a wolf. not a pretty answer but again - never liked showing my work in math class :P)

I'll say DPR's post there at a skim feels more familiar based on my limited experience with him and that immediately raises doubts, but without going back to check ATM I'm pretty sure his push on me as a wolf in Zander's game wasn't particularly different from his push as town in Lost. I'll have to think about it.

1. I think Cory's put in more work than anyone else in this game so I don't really care that it comes out across 40 posts over time instead of a huge wall of text. That's a playstyle difference and while I'm obviously not attempting to discern his alignment so I may be reading more into his posts than people without TMI, I struggle to buy that anyone thinks he's been hiding his thoughts here and just chucking around unexplained votes all game.

 

2. Cory's more shallow as a wolf imo. The moment when we learned this wasn't true C9++ and were just like yolo lynch the wolfy people might have felt like scum!Cory in a vacuum. Not that obvious but a little more willing to roll with ideas without exploring all options, not as eager to seize command if the game is naturally working its way towards a mislynch anyway, long stretches where the thread feels lost followed by a late phase charge on a villager that people will roll with because they have no guidance and Cory has a history of lynching wolves... I suppose those are little things.  Probably the big picture is more what the thread state is like.  Cory is a village organizer.  If people are running wild all over the place and there's not a sense that things are coming together and villagers aren't being encouraged to recognize each other and cooperate, he's probably a wolf.  That and lol Niniel getting lynched D1 over Kronos or Darthe if he's town just isn't going to happen.

 

Me, I can't fake my level of investigation and questioning.  I gloss over stuff that I would challenge as a villager because it doesn't resonate in my head as something to question when I have TMI, and I can almost always get away with it for a day or two but over time the disparity adds up into a really obvious difference.

@ Tress you focus a fair bit on motive behind what Niniel failed to do, specifically your comment about her not welcoming Tig to the game stood out to me.  As a wolf, she's not looking at everyone in the first place.  Wolves have an agenda in their head and things outside of that agenda often get overlooked regardless of the player's alignment.  I've always been particularly bad at this sort of assessment--distinguishing who a wolf is focusing on reactionarily vs perceived future threat vs hopes of a mislynch vs w/w agenda from the start, so it's hard for me to agree or disagree on much.  I do think her lack of mentioning Tig is null in that if she wasn't focused there in the first place she could have just glossed over the sub-in regardless of Tig's alignment.

 

I don't know if I'll have more to say on that WoT or not, I'm in frantic kid patrol mode right now.  Independently of Niniel what are your thoughts on Ed and DPR?

Obviously you'd call me a liar, because that's miles away from C9++.  A slight deviation from the open set-up does not flush the set-up in its entirety down the toilet.  Darthe drops an uncountered claim that makes a hell of a lot of sense here and he didn't wait for most of the field to reveal before doing it, you're dismissing probability of a doc out of hand because this is not a completely open set-up, and you're also telling the "real" doc to not counterclaim, it just all reads to me like you're in quite a pickle and desperately need a mislynch and you're going to stir the pot with people like me and Darthe rather than any of the serious suspects because you don't want any of it to be useful information if you still go down today.

I mean obviously you did get into it with Ed for a while first.  You've been transitioning away from that onto people outside of the POE.

And I suppose a villager can find whoever they damn well please to be suspicious, but you've been largely ignoring Tig and Tress as far as I can tell.

Basically it just looks narrow to me.  Without ISOing most of what I remember of your earlier game when people were generally leaning town on you was pushing consensus villagers, and since your back's been against the wall you had a go at your counterwagon and then turned back to more or less consensus villagers. 

 

You'll call this a misrep and intentional twisting because that's your gig, maybe you've shown broader coverage than I remember and I can ISO that later but if you have it didn't stick out to me, and I'm generally looking for how other players approach my top suspects.

Can you just put a little faith in Darthe? I have balled out on DPR several times when he was a wolf. Its not in his choice of words or anything like that, its his stances. The guy becomes pretty apparent when he is a wolf because he plays objective based mafia.
