  1. Jagen shook her head at waved a dismissive hand. "I am glad you spoke your thoughts. I share them, as it happens." Guardians, indeed. Whoever came up with that name, whatever they considered themselves, people only had the Aes Sedai for guardians. The men were too new, too dangerous, to be considered anything else as of yet.

"The Asha'man, they must be put under our watch and care. However fast they learn and train with the One Power, there is still a long way to go, yes?" Goodness, but it was weird talking so casually of men and channeling. "They have little to no training in anything else, and only their ability to channel holds them together at their 'Black Tower'." Her tone said what she thought of that name.

"Nonetheless, they must become and stay our charge above all others. I will encourage as many of our Red sisters as possible to bond as many as they will, much like the Green and their Warders." Her blue eyes rest on Elin's. "In a couple of days I will be taking a trip to the Black Tower. I'm looking for sisters to accompany me."

  2. Celestine watched the man's eyes go to the children nearby. She pursed her lips slightly in thought. It was regrettable that children always seemed to be the first to suffer when food shortages happened. But she could only do them so much good. So many a Sister had told her when she was Accepted.

"They come to the White Tower, you know," she told the man before her, her accent naming her Andoran. "For Healing, when they get sick." She sighed. "The Wheel weaves as the Wheel wills, but that doesn't mean we are helpless." Her smile grew, and it made her appear very joyful. "That makes me inspired. We have a hand in helping the Wheel to weave it's Pattern, and we should all do our part, if we're able."

She gave a smile to the children, at least one of whom smiled back, then she turned to the man. "And you, sir...? What inspires you?"

  3. Jagen did not understand why the other sister would want to wear a dress of common-folk, but she did not bother asking. Some Sisters just liked to dress rather plainly, she supposed. Jagen's own dress was silky gray, though her cloak and gloves were red.

"I did not mean to disturb you." Her eyes flitted to the journal just momentarily. "Though, since I am here. Yourself, I would like to know what you think about our bonding of male channelers." She moved to sit on the bench about a foot away from Elin, arranging her skirts. "While it is common knowledge now, the bonding, it is still new to us. Even other Ajah sisters have begun to do so." She wished it weren't so, but she could not stop what already was. "Have you met any of these.. Asha'man yet?"

  4. Jagen had just returned from her visit to Adnor. After riding her mare some way, she had made a gateway to get back. No need for those to see gateways who didn't need to know they existed, now. The Sitter almost plucked off her velvet gloves, then decided against it. The weather was a bit colder up here. She drew her cloak around her and headed from the designated Traveling grounds to the West Stable, not too far off. Giving the mare an apple and a pat down, she made sure Vega was settled before heading up the wide path towards the Tower.

The visit to the Black Tower had left her uneasy, but she hardly let it show. It had only seemed to confirm for her her worst fears; whatever madness the men had there had not gone away upon the cleansing of saidin. If that had truly worked as they said--what if something remained, however small?

She let out a soft breath of frustration; she hated not knowing answers. Especially when time seemed of the essence, and it certainly seemed that way. How far away was the Last Battle?

As she went up the path, a figure caught her attention, for she was wearing black. The color certainly echoed her thoughts, but it was hardly appropriate to be wearing. As she got closer, she saw the red needlework, and recognized Elin.

"An unusual color choice," she commented, her voice fluttering her veil.

  5. Celestine was able to visit the city as an Accepted, but only for certain hours, and not very long, at that. Finally she was able to visit the streets on her terms, and there was so much to see. She wanted to take it in and do so as a sort of tourist herself. Though new to the shawl, she was not wearing it out here. Instead she only wore a yellow and pink lacy dress, descent in cut and in a nice wool, embroidered with flowers. She had a scrip at her side, her shawl and ring hidden inside, along with some money from the bank. A strap over her shoulder secured it.

She paused briefly here and there, to admire buildings, to try food, and to just sit and watch the city. And, in truth, she also wanted a break from the halls of the Tower; learning all she had to since gaining the shawl was as tiring as any day as a novice or Accepted.

Celestine paused before a man doing nothing other than staring up at the architecture of the city. Or rather, he was looking at its grand beacon, the White Tower. She couldn't help but smile at him. "Beautiful, isn't it? I can't stop finding it inspiring." She spoke a bit loudly, but her tone was friendly.

  6. I was disappointed the Companion didn’t say how Moiraine and Lan made it to the Two Rivers riight in the nick of time.

I’m also disappointed only one Black Ajah member had her readon listed for going to the Shadow.

It also had no Ajah customs which I also found disappointing.

Maybe one day they’ll release another with more information on random subjects. I hope so anyway. RJ HAD to have a ton of notes left behind about stuff that didn’t make it into the books but was nonetheless part of them.

  7. The world could wait on the White Tower, as Jagen saw it. Whatever she was doing, and no matter how far she was, she would drop it and head for the Tower. That beacon greeted her in welcome triumph every time she returned to Tar Valon, and this time seemed no different. The world was changing around them, and quickly, but the White Tower would be there through it all; she would be there. A symbol of timeless power and strength.

It was her home, and it gave her comfort. Even though she looked as if she just came from Tarabon, braided and veiled as on her first day in the city, Tar Valon, and the Tower truly was her home; her mother died over century and a half ago, and she had no living relatives she was aware of; nor did she care. Her sisters were here, in the White Tower, the place that shaped Jagen and showed her who she truly could be and what she could become. Since the day she took the shawl, the Red Ajah had her devotion.

She took in the sights of the city as she rode in, but did not slow her large, black horse. Past all sorts of unique shops like none others in the world, the city seemed a little more crowded than usual to her. Perhaps it was because of the war, and famine. And the Dragon.

Jagen left her horse with the young woman in the West Stable and glided up the wide, graveled path. She plucked velvet her gloves off as she recalled the message she'd been given; the reason she was now enveloped by the shadow of the most powerful symbol in the world. The Crimson Banner calls. She climbed the spiraling staircases up to the Ajah quarters; once she opened the door that lead to her home, she saw many Reds there, some faces showing urgency. Others anticipation. Jagen certainly felt that way, but she kept her features smooth, giving a couple of smiles to those she knew. It was not long before one of the Sitters spotted her and told Jagen to attend at once; she was jsut in time for the important meeting.

In her room, she washed up and dug out a deep red gown threaded with gold. She then chose her oldest shawl for the occasion, the first she had ever been given, preserved with a weave to look as new as the first day she had received it. The long, red fringe went to the back of the tall sister's knees when she wore it high on her shoulders, wrapped around like a banner.

She made her way thusly with the other Sisters to their most secret chamber. Jagen almost wondered if, perhaps, just perhaps, this was a call to attend the Grand Emergence. She was not sure how she felt if that was the case. While some sisters did not care to dwell on the unsure, Jagen wanted to be prepared. Just in case. One could not be too careful with anything.

Yet nothing could have prepared her for the smooth ter'angreal box that was uncovered by Muirenn, after she had revealed how she came to be in the Red Ajah, and Jagen had newfound respect for the other Red. She was not expecting the journal, either. Bonwhin's journal. What an odd thing, Jagen thought initially. She did not keep a personal journal, only a log recording some activities that were important to her. She thought journals frivolous, silly things. But sometimes useful.

As for Bonwhin herself, Jagen was not sure what to think. She was better than Tetsuan, she supposed, but still had her faults. Whatever other Sisters in other Ajahs saw, the facts to Jagen were in her favor. Bonwhin ruled for more than fifty years, one of the longest of any Amyrlin, and under her rule Guaire Amalasan, one of the most dangerous False Dragons in the Age, had been gentled. Artur Hawkwing may have brought him, but did not listen to her--a simple matter of respecting Tar Valon's law!--and that had caused a Light forsaken mess. Hawkwing was a fool, whatever else he did, in her opinion.

But Jagen held few illusions; whatever her triumphs and faults, Bonwhin was but a woman. Learning of what was in her journal was unsettling in some manner, but the Red was so intrigued by the knowledge gained, few of the revelations bothered her--until the picture became clear.

Then there was the ter'angreal. The recording, however that was done, was real. A man... had begged a sister, his sister in the Power, when both were Aes Sedai, to help them. She ketp herself from gasping, unlike some others. But still she breathed deeply. Between the two items and all they meant, Jagen's mind was working fast to process it all. She breathed a bit deeply, but it was more because she was so focused on what she was learning it made her run out of breath. Seeing that man from the ter'angreal had been both unsettling and fascinating.

Leona talked first after asking Perine's permission. "Highest, Sitters and Sisters under the Crimson Banner. What you have seen today has and will change the history and the future of the Red Ajah. It is a wonderful opportunity to show the world our true duty to this world. How we have kept the watch like we promised so long ago. This information will rock the foundations of the White Tower and maybe even earn the Red Ajah the Seat once again."

The question came then if they held this to the Crimson Banner, or to reveal it to the rest of the Tower. Jagen's instinct was to keep it to themselves, at least for now. What purpose would it serve in revealing it? There was no obvious answer yet.

She listened to the others, and nodded her head in agreement with Maegan, that the journal stay hidden. She was of the opinion the ter'angreal be shared. Perhaps that would be well, but Jagen hardly cared what the other Ajahs thought of the Red, as long as they agreed with their necessity.

She stood with the others to leave once she had taken it all in, choosing not to share her voice; she wanted time to think on this matter. The Taraboner shook her head slightly, standing there briefly. It all bared thinking about certainly. But all she said at a fellow, younger Red's inquiry of her thoughts was, "The Wheel weaves as the Wheel wills."

Indeed, it did. But was it mocking them, or was it what they needed? Was there some clue in what was revealed, in Bonwhin's journal that needed more reading to uncover, that would give them an answer to how to move forward, or lead them towards one? After all, whatever the beginning of the Red Ajah--Jagen frowned thinking about it that way--it hardly changed their purpose now... didn't it?

She soon found herself in her room thinking about it in an almost dreamlike state. She had ordered a tray brought to her room yet hardly touched the food upon its arrival. The Dragon was reborn, and channelers were showing up everywhere. Men who could channel had started to gather under his direction, and she loathed the thought. It was why she had been in Andor right before coming here. She hoped they would end up killing themselves; let them fight and go mad among each other and leave the rest of the world out of it.

She channeled her food warm again, ate, and dressed for bed. The sun had gone down hours ago. She took a deep breath and tried to relax herself. When the sun rose tomorrow, she would have to think of what this would mean for her Ajah, and how she could help make sure they remained as strong and timeless as the Tower.

OOC: Old topic but I felt the need to respond.  (And encourage other Reds who weren't around at the time to do so!)

  8. Is Aubriana at all in line to inherit her family's fortune, or does she have siblings who are ahead of her?

I think through some lessons she'll learn the importance of Aes Sedai. Perhaps Jagen may talk to her about that... do an introduction to her White Tower training. If the MoN wants her or approves her to do that.

  9. Ohh my ... Jagen really made a bad impression on her hahahaha.

Hm! Well I have a new Yellow sister, too, and I'm waiting on bio approval for a White. I don't see her interacting much with novices, though >_> But my Yellow is quite sweet!

What kind of things motivate Aubriana?

    • "The Hunt for Namandar RP" (done in 2003-2004) details have been added. Thanks to Jaydena, I now have a copy of this RP thread. While no Reds were involved, nonetheless it's worthwhile knowing about.

Arie--I've thought about it some more; Phaedra will be considered a new Highest, taking over after Maegan (as per your latest post mentioning her, she was injured in Cairhein, I believe you said). This way Maegan's legacy is kept, and now we stay in line with the NSW rules (I clarified with Chaelca that it seems a non-optional rule).

Thank you everyone! Can anyone recommend great RPs going on? I think I am much suited to play an Aes Sedai than a male channeler, no offense.

Yessss, we have active characters in the White Tower! *nods vigorously* Come join! @Taymist heads the RP division. And you can find information on the Boards about how and where to submit biographies for characters! @Kathleen heads the White Tower, and WT bios ended up getting submitted to her.

Check out this board. It'll help get you started!

  11. The illustrations in the BWB are HORRIBLE and I can't believe it ever got approved for printing... they should really, REALLY release an updated version. (Then again, I guess the Companion IS the updated version, since it has all of that information and more).

The Companion is miles better, but a person doesn't need both unless you're a collector. (The Companion still left a lot to be desired though... *sigh*) But also, the BWB doesn't have spoilers. That I recall.

  12. When the door opened, a servant answered it. She bowed appropriately to the Red. At Carraidhin's comments, she looked uncertain back into the apartments of Jagen Sedai.

"Come in, Carraidhin," came the older sister's voice. It was less friendly than last time, but neither did it hold anything negative; her tone was business.

Jagen was finished with her meal already and rolling up a short note. The servant waited patiently until Jagen handed it to her. She curtsied again to them both and quickly left. The Sitter moved from her desk and gestured for Carraidhin to join her at a small table that held a tea tray, three chairs surrounding it. She already had tea in one cup.

"Some years ago when I was at a village," she began, hands in her lap on her white, red-slashed skirts, "I met a young girl who had a broken leg. Her mother asked if I could Heal her. It was unfortunate I have little in the way of Healing ability, but that is besides the point. The girl, her leg was injured, her mother told me, by a bear trap. The mother, she was so upset she almost wanted me to take action, somehow, against the man responsible. Her village had not done enough to appease her." She paused briefly, her eyes watching her owl, perched by the window and watching Carraidhin warily. "What she told me later was that she had seen the trapper coming out of the woods just the day before, yet she let her daughter out to play in the woods anyway." She finally picked up her tea and sipped it. "The mother had no one to blame but herself. She knew the danger, and let her daughter wander anyway."

Setting down the cup, she finally made eye contact with the other sister. "One who has been gone so long from the Tower should not wander without knowing what is unseen." A brief pause. "We have a lot to talk about. I'm assume you know of the Black Tower, yes?"
