  1. Nice!! I think (maybe) you can see *some* RP forums; at least maybe the OOC (out of character) boards. Or the Biography and Welcome boards. If not you can ask you join I think.

I am always trying to recruit people to the RP side; we’re a bit slow right now but trying. The more people who join, the better! Glad to have you!!

  2. Welcome, Forshookt!

Hm, I think you flip through a physical copy of the Companion before buying, if you can, to make sure it is what you want. It depends on why you may wish o get it!

We also have a role-play side of DM, too, if you’re interested! :)

  4. ooc: I was thinking I shoudln't have done the knock at the end.  >_> I meant to go back and edit that out, but had a project occupying my time after. On the OP, Just to clarify though, Jagen is above Maegan in strength (and actually I'm having a possible adjustment of her score, but that is not resolved, yet), yet Maegan's potency is stronger.

Jagen frowned slightly when it was a novice who entered and curtsied. Now why did Carraidhin deny her? Wondering what the other Red could have been hiding, or what business could possibly have been more pressing, she waved her hand at the novice to come in.

"Yes, Carraidhin must have much to do, and she probably wishes to rest. Nonetheless--what is your name girl?" She answered, and Jagen only went on, "Take this tray to Carraidhin Sedai; it would be a shame to waste the food. If she declines it, then take it back to the kitchens. You are dismissed."

"Yes, Jagen Sedai." She bobbed a deep curtsy, took the tray, and nearly ran out with it.

The Sitter sat back in her chair, annoyed. Carraidhin should not have denied her, even if she was tired, or whatever the sister's excuse was. But as her stomach growled, she began to eat her food; since she was already here, there was little to do except eat. She would not go after Carraidhin quite yet, if that's the way it was going to be.

    ****

    >_> I'm... not quite sure where to go beyond that. But if you want Carraidhin to run into Jagen later, it's fine... probably just have her walking down a hallway or... can simply go to her room, if you wish.

  5. I corrected Jagen's age, btw; she is 190, not 210.

    :ajahred_by_drowelfmorwen-dc43fsu::ajahred_by_drowelfmorwen-dc43fsu::ajahred_by_drowelfmorwen-dc43fsu:

Jagen folded her hands in front of her, one over the other, standing thoughtfully as she regarded Carraidhin. She was not prepared to receive a visitor in her quarters. Yet she would not pass up the opportunity to talk to a fellow Red, especially one she hardly knew. Jagen wanted to know everyone who walked their quarters.

"It seems lunch will have to wait," she replied, "as that question can be answered a dozen different ways. Perhaps two dozen." She thought for a moment, overlooking Carraidhin, then nodded. It was obvious she had just arrived, and not from a short trip, Jagen would have guessed; no, she had Tesarene keeping her appraised of the comings and goings of their Ajah sisters. "Come visit me in my rooms; I will take lunch there. I suspect you'd like to eat yourself, having just journeyed. In that case, we may have lunch together." From the Sitter, the invite was not optional.

And while usually it would be up to the invited sister to find a servant to tell them to bring food for two to her quarters, the Sitter added, "Of course, take a bit of time to settle. By the time you arrive, food should have as well." That would give Carraidhin time to truly settle, wash up and change if she wanted to, but more importantly, it would give Jagen some time to prepare for her unexpected guest.

It was not a servant she located next, but a sister, and she told her to find a servant for those food trays; she hardly cared Anthea would know she was meeting with someone, as nothing unusual was going on. Jagen then headed back to her rooms without another word.

In truth her sitting room was as neat as it ever was, but she marked with a small strip of cloth at least two open books and closed them up; one recorded events during the Breaking of the World--supposedly; most of that knowledge was most likely generations old--and the other was on the Ten Nations. The Sitter also rolled up a few maps and tied them, as well. She channeled to open the curtains of her window and was not surprised to hear the clicking of a beak; Blackwing's large eyes had opened when she did so, and the great horned owl fluttered as if angry. With several black spots giving him quite a heavily mottled appearance, she was a favorite of all the pets she had had before. He turned his head all the way around, tucking it into his feathers, determined to be back to his rest. She almost chuckled, thinking of how he wouldn't be getting any rest while Jagen chatted with Carraidhin.

The food did arrive first, luckily; a servant brought the two trays and curtsied deep before departing. Jagen barely poured tea for herself when the knock came. Perfect timing. She smoothed her red and white skirts. "Come in."

  6. Jagen frowned at the girl as no words came out of her mouth to answer Valeri's question. Perhaps the young noble thought she wasn't being addressed, but no, the Red knew better. The girl was angry, and no matter how well she tried to hide it, it was plain as day.

"This girl, she is Aubriana Daivon," she told Valeri. "The girl, I believe you met her not a day or two past--helped to work out her schedule of learning. Well, she will now be learning a lot more than she could have hoped for." Jagen eyed her dress--blue and green; she would almost be happy to see that silk burn after the girl was put in white. "A new novice, she should be honored," she said, directing her comment now at Aubriana. "Not all girls can channel, and you, it seems, might be here for some time, if I had to wager." She let a small smile touch her lips, and her gaze was not kind.

She gave a nod to Valeri. She would stay, if the Mistress of Novices wanted her to, but it was unlikely; even though Jagen was a teacher for the novices and Accepted, it would probably fall to an Accepted, if not Valeri Sedai herself, to show her to the novice quarters and go over the basic rules, after Valeri got her out of that too-blue dress.

  7. Jagen inclined her head slightly to Adrim, not as an equal, but more like a person as dangerous as she; two wolves who watched one another warily. She followed Nox out quietly. She watched Nox half the time on their way to the stable yard, and made some observations of the Black Tower--stupid name, she thought, when they had no Tower; but the name still served its purpose unfortunately--and tucked those observations into the back of her mind. She'd be making a map of this place, soon, between this information and that of other sisters who'd visited ahead of her. And those who would come. She wasn't sure yet what she would do with that information, and it hardly mattered now; what was important was that she had it.

When they got into the stable and the young boy came up, Jagen looked as if she had no idea how to react in the kid's presence. Before she had been distracted, but she seemed to step around Nox and move away to wait casually near the entrance; in truth, she didn't like kids and didn't want to be around him. But it also made her uneasy that children were here, to be corrupted around men who could channel. "What happens if one is harmed?" she asked, but then shook her head when she saw Nox looking at her. She smoothed her features still. "No, there is no need to wait. But I will return. I may ask for you." Then the Aes Sedai looked away, over the flatness of the town full of channeling men. All around her men still worked with saidin. "You may go."

Jagen did not bother to look at him again; instead, she stayed as she was, watching, still as a statue, until the boy had Vega ready to go. Without a word she swung up into the saddle and set her mare at an easy trot. As much as she wanted to get far away from this place as soon as possible, the Red made herself take her horse out three miles before weaving a gateway big enough for her and Vega to go through, the White Tower shining like a beacon in the sunlight on the other side.

  8. *shakes head* Man, I would have LOVED to read that. So much I wanted to learn--like exactly where and how did Moiraine learn balefire?! Among several other "important" questions. Man oh man I would not complain, honestly, if RJ left notes and Sanderson did that one, too. (I wish!)

  9. From the WoT Companion:

    Quote

Medore Damara. A Tairen noblewoman...She was tall, with a dark complexion, black hair and bright blue eyes, and if she missed beautiful, it wasn’t by much.

Also, MANY Tairens are described as dark skinned. And blue eyes are also common (like Siuan, though she is never mentioned having dark skin, which seems unusual for a Tairen).

    Quote

Gorderan. A Tairen Redarm ...He was fair-skinned for a Tairen, with black hair and gray eyes.

    Other Tairens:

    Quote

"Mayam Colona. A Tairen Aes Sedai of the White Ajah... with dark skin, black eyes and black hair."

"Meralda Belmondes. A Tairen woman who was a member of Cha Faile. Almost 5'7" tall, she was solid with a very dark complexion."

"Nyein Kalede. An Atha’an Miere Aes Sedai of the Brown Ajah... She had a very dark complexion, black hair and dark eyes..."

"Rosara Medrano. A Tairen Aes Sedai of the Brown Ajah... tall, with black hair, dark eyes and brown skin..."

  10. Jagen smiled politely as she set down the tea, half finished. Watching that boy, she was sure he was faking it--or was he so mad already that his mood really was fine, just that quickly? The Red could not be sure. No, she was sure she had enough of him today.

"That is very kind of you, Nox." She stood and adjusted her skirt and looked between them. "I believe we have had a good conversation today. But I will be heading back the way I came." She left it at that. No need to give any details on what she could or could not do, or how strong she was. Or even where she was going. Yet Nox was strong in the Power, it seemed. "Perhaps next time I visit, we may have tea again, but I will announce myself next time." She paused, then added, "And perhaps bring a friend. My understanding here, it is that Aes Sedai are not so uncommon around the grounds anymore.

"Now, I hate to take any more of your time, but you could escort me back to the stables, yes? I think I've seen enough for today. And it is almost time for lunch." She looked expectantly between them, not really caring which would offer her that escort. What was important in Jagen's mind was that she should not walk alone here, and it was always better to be seen with someone; let people make of that what they would.
