Just so you all know
I don't share her view that everything is going to be okay.
Season 1 was poor especially from a writing POV and near unrecognizable from the source material.
Now you tell us that the changes are going to be even greater in season 2. Will need to be a remarkable improvement in the writing quality to save the show.

No. Only two nails (also not the right skin color) - Sarah confirmed that it's not Tuon. It's definitely Suroth. Also - I think there's a strong chance (there's a theory circulating that I think is correct) that only Darkfriends can "see" Ishy - who regular viewers still think is the Dark One - he's still passing himself off as that. I also think it's correct that they have Rand sword fight Ishy as the very final scenes and I think Ishy will stab him and the S2 will end with Rand "dying" (check on my season predictions thread - shameless plug).
My main comment on the First Look photos is that the costuming dept is doing the best job of anybody on this show so far. Special Effects and Writing team needs to step it up to their level. Though, in the past, I've been heavily critical of the writing team (I was so disappointed with the Finale that I left Dragonmount all together and stopped paying any attention to WoT stuff for almost a year). I have "come-around" in that I think there were a number of legit excuses for it being bad: Covid, Lead-Actor leaving, trying to tell massive story in 8 Season, 8 Episodes each. So - I now have hope that this Season can be better. If it can come even close to how good S1 Ep7 cold open was - it could be a really legit show.
I will take the fact that production has said it's not Tuon. It was purely the fact that she was wearing a veil and that was a large part of Tuons early story to ponder the possibility.
However the things like the look and the nails I would not use as evidence. The nails look like a prosthetic rather than natural nails that I think the books describe they are also extremely longer than I imagined I find it hard to imagine they would not effect Turak's sword handling if they are as long as that photo makes out.
It would also be possible to have had them change Tuons appearance from the books considering how much other stuff has been changed. Unlikely but possible.

On the Dusty Wheel livestream Sarah Nakamura wouldn't comment on people's guesses as to whom it wass but did say it was not Tuon.
My assumption is Suroth and Fares Fares will be taking the place of Fain as Fain will be integrating himself with the Whitecloaks.
OK. I don't watch the DW it was more that the veil was such a big part of Tuons story early.

Just looking at the seachan photo is that a veil on the middle woman so could it be Tuon?

Could it be possible they will hold the final 2 episode till early 2024?

just watched a rewatch of the series over the last few nights....
anyone think maybe Perrin is attracted to Rand;
1. challenges Rand to treat Eggy better which at first glance is some kind of hint that he likes Eggy....but...what if he were upset and Rands aloofness, based on his own feelings
2. in that scene he clearly states that Laila was 'the only women i ever loved'
3. later in same episode he confirms with Eggy that he loves Rand.... its the same episode which got me thinking, it could be bad writing, but he commits his love for Rand and denies his love for Eggy in two very close scenes. so it could be he is refering to something greater than a platonic love interest
my original thought would be it would ruin the story a bit, but on reflection, if its done right, and his love for Faile is chanelled into his love for Rand, and it means one less character with one less side story (the recapture of Faile and the whole horn stuff at thge last book, it really could work if done with a sensitive nod to the original character
as in Perrin doesnt really need to change his character ARC significantly, we know he is driven by love and loyalty to one specific person....
Its a possibility in eps 7 they link Perrin and Layla engagement to the day that Rand and Egwene get together, with Nynaeve complaining about them fighting over Egwene but then Perrin states that he never loved another woman than his wife. Would be a small step for Perrin having hid his feelings for Rand behind talking to Nynave about Egwene instead.
I would say its 50/50 for me that this is the path they are going to follow based on the first season.

Pretty sure it was the after effects of the bowl of winds being used as the bowl used saidan as well while elaynes gateway was purely saidar.

Verin wasn't a surprise because she lied in Book 2 and was about to murder Casudane. It would have been more of a surprise had Taim not turned out to be a DF.
The big question for me was if that one general Weirmon?? Was a DF or just really dumb and incompetent.

He was revealed to be a DF after Rand gained the ability to spot DFs. Exposed after Rand saved Lan's forces I think.

I got a few chuckles out of the Rima video, certainly caught me by surprise.
I think the room might be the White Tower basement where novices are raised. Other people are speculated the Stone of Tear. Who Knows!
It almost looks like columns, but they seem bent and seem too low for the hall in tear, and it almost looks like cloth behind it which does not make sense. I suppose if it's after a fight scene it could be damaged.
Maybe the raising room for novices but there's no bloodshed in that actual room that I remember. In the visions maybe but not that room.

Terrible scenes that should never have been in the show
- Egwene being thrown off the cliff.
- Two rivers being turned into a dank hovel.
- Nynaeve killing the trolloc and being able to sneak up on Lan to the point of getting a knife to his throat.
- AOL scene, if you where going to have a AOL scene it should have been the prologue from the book so much better and also sets the stakes and world building up so much better.
- Butchered all the fight scenes except for the blood snow.
- Healing bomb and Egwene appearing to heal Nynaeve from death (i'm aware they said it's not the case but its what it looked like).
Good scenes
- Blood snow was good apart from the stupid cloak pull.
- Did not hate some of the Logain scenes.
- DojoToad, ironisles, WheelofJuke and 2 others

This talking point keeps coming up and it's simply not true. The tv show didn't merge the one power into a single power, they just didn't explain the intricacies of the one power in the first season of the live action show.
The two halves of the one power are briefly talked about in the animated shorts that come with the TV series on Amazon. They are cannon to the tv show.
It was one of the major problems with the show the distinct lack of information about the magic system. In fact the world building was just terrible overall.
Making another show so that you can understand your show is shit writing.

Gal Gadot needs to play an Aiel. She already has sword and martial arts training from the Wonder Woman movies and being in the IDF.
She can't act at all though,

Plaza would be great she has that slightly off-putting vibe as well as the ability to go more heavily into the deranged mode when pushed.
She was spectacular in Legion.

I just finished a reread and while the current traveling people are searching for a song I thought it was really interesting that when they actually broke away from the Aiel they wanted to find a place where they could be safe so they could sing again. It wasn't the song that was important, that was something that was twisted over time. I think this is interesting because this is exactly what the Tinkers find in Seanchan controlled Ebou Dar with all of the traveling people gathering there due to how safe it is. It's true that they may never find the song but they did find what they were originally looking for which was a place where they can be safe and sing.
“Sulwin stepped back, then held his ground with his companions. “No, Adan. We are supposed to find a place of safety, and some of us mean to do that. My greatfather used to tell me stories he heard as a boy, stories of when we lived in safety and people came to hear us sing. We mean to find a place where we can be safe, and sing again.”

This material may be protected by copyright. There are also the 2 segments from Rand's trip to Rhuidean that could be relevant.
Firstly the story of how a group of Aiel in the past sang to one of the companions for hours as he killed them one by one while the city's population escaped.
Secondly one of Rands ancestors was in the fields with the Nym as they sung the harvest songs. It's possible that if the tinkers ever reconciled with the Aiel that they could in fact pass through the rings and hear the song again. That is assuming there was an actual song to be heard and not a distortion of the truth. Also probably the origin of the Aiel reference to fighting as a dance.

I fear this may happen.
If they try to do too much non-readers might be saying "wtf?" too many times and not care about the characters. Which, IMO, the first season didn't cause us to invest emotionally in the EF5.
That wont happen season 3 is already or almost about to shoot.
What i can see is if there is a drop-off is that they could push to complete the series at the end of season 4.

Because there's a time jump? C'mon, man.
No because he said there will be a time jump and the characters will be more mature and less naive. Either one in isolation and I would not have made the assumption.
My guess is that season 2 will start with a 3 to 5 minute recap of season one and then we will get an approx 6 months later time jump.

Interview Marcus Rutherford
https://www.leftlion.co.uk/read/2023/february/marcus-rutherford
Highlights of the interview
-
a time jump between seasons
-
the main characters less naive, more jaded and dark
-
a big jump in writing and visual effects this season (don't know if it was the interviewer or Marcus who said that)
I suspect the time jump will allow for Nynaeve and Egwene to start in Tar'Valon, maybe Rand in Cairhien?
Sounds like the character development will be done off screen.
That interview does not give me a lot of hope that the 2nd season is going to be a improvement.

Perrin is a wolf brother and a master smith. It always read to me like he was adding something from himself into the making of the hammer.
The best comparison for me is the seed that Rand gave to Elayne for making new angreal. The seed takes power(temporarily) from the user in order to empower the angreal. Perrin adds to the hammer from his skill and being a wolf brother. The fact that darkhounds are turned wolves adds to this as well.

If you don't or can't enjoy the show for what it is and as it is, you might as well not watch it because nothing that happens going forward is honestly going to be satisfactory for you.
Well you can enjoy the echo chamber of mediocrity by yourself then if you wish. But until the show improves or ends I will continue to express my dissatisfaction with it in a constructive and civil way as I have been doing.
I am a 30+ year fan of the original IP who was super excited that my favorite book series was coming to TV .
I would love to be able to walk away from the series but because of my love of the original work it is almost impossible that will occur no matter how bad the series gets.

That will have to be an awful big rabbit. But its fine. If the show gets amazing, then the commentary changes from WoT sucks to it had a slow start but was awesome after that - definitely worth the watch.
Agree. Season 1 I hated but if the show can improve I will be overjoyed. I was incredibly excited when I heard the show was being made and that lasted all the way till the first 3 episodes came out. Can it beome great, maybe, will it I doubt it.

Are you actually criticizing the way the Trollocs looked in Episode one? I thought that was one of the few things people universally loved.
The look was better the movement around the fight sequence around Moiraine was very ordinary.
Where will S2 take the WoT
in Wheel of Time TV Show

So many.
Those are big issues from the first 3 episodes.
Also
For me the entire first season's writing is basically on a CW DC level.
