I think one of the biggest differences between LOTR, especially Paths of the Dead and WOT and it's elements is LOTR was PG13 and WOT will most definitely be R/TV-MA which I think will give more tonal freedom. I don't know about GOT, didn't watch, but one thing might be they were more leaning into the sex and blood and dragons to carry the story than anything else.

As progressive as the show will be, I think they'll either drop Tylin and go right to Beslin or have the Gholam, if they include that, murder Tylin as he arrives and Mat stays to help Beslin and free demane. The biggest difference, societywise, is viewers will know what Valda does to Morgase is wrong and worthy of death immediately while not everyone will see it with Tylin and Randland, or whatever it's called, just doesn't have the concepts for male rape. It's shown by the fact that Nyneave and Elayne find it funny where they would instantly kill Valda. The situations are kind of similiar, neither Morgase nor Mat were technically forced but were both in a fortress where a word from Valda or Tylin would get them killed and so for different reasons, they were both taken advantage of in the cruelest way possible.

@Elder_HamanWell Rand and her could've just had the big blowup over her wanting to be an Aes Sedai. That could be a really tense if Rand says DF, especially after the 5 think she killed Hightower.

I also liked the non-answer about who's always late.

It's possible they didn't have the yellow eyes because that would be a giveaway of something big.

Besides, the whole point of that scene is to get Rand and Elayne in proximity for taveren and telling you he's the Dragon Reborn. I have feeling they're going to shy away from as much overtly taveren because plot stuff as they possibly can and hiding the DR means no Eliada viewing, at least for S1. Does no Caemlyn hurt yes, is it anywhere near a deal breaker, no.

I'm the dusty wheel is even now trying to unblur everything and figure out why the metadata for the Logain picture is wrong.
-
Personally I too wish Moiraine were shorter but I like the fact Nyneave is the shortest, considering what she is and who she becomes.
-
I think it's kind of appropriate that Perrin is taller than Rand, I know that's heresy but he's supposed be the god of thunder, he should be tall.
-
I have a feeling alot of Crown of Swords to KoD will be rearranged or shortened.

The ancient symbol of AS, either the seals or just on stuff. action figures and such.
-
It obviously won't be Randland. I just googled it and it doesn't have an official name but I wonder if RJ's notes have something.
-
A good measure I think is LOTR, not the Hobbit movies. If one absolutely refuses to watch the LOTR movies, than they probably won't like the WOT show. Tom Bombadil still hurts though.

My guess is that storyline will just be dropped. either it'll be a normal relationship or they'll find some other reason to keep mat in Ebou Dar.
-
Since Harldin mentioned it, killing Gawyn either in the tower fighting, Elaida's coup, or Dumais Wells, for Egwene's sake I guess. After that, he impacts nothing, except Egwene at the very end, and I don't think she needs a warder or someone with Greyman speed needs to attack Dem.
I think they either hunt something else in Ebou Dar, perhaps Sakarnan but it's gone or the bowl is done without the seafolk.
-
Going further with the Bowl, I think the whole sea folk will be dropped because while interesting, I like the Coramour aspect, it never goes anywhere. I like the journey to tanchico but detested them the rest of the time. I think they could be removed with minimal to no impact.
Valan Luca or at least just make it an unnamed circus and cut all the side shenanigans. I know important stuff happened but the whole plotline needs to be severely truncated at the very least.
That's all I can think of at the moment.
-
Wherever it happens, it might, and probably will be, just the same.
-
Right now, I just can't wait to see the trailer.
-
They'll probably have the Rand/Logain scene or more than one because of foreshadowing, for the views, not book fans plus you probably want to make Rand afraid he'll be gentled and you have to make the audience afraid for Rand.

I had a thought and wondered if they also cast Asmodean and a female forsaken as Aram's grandparents as apparently they're higher calibre actors. As with the Grinwells, the grandparents aren't in the books that much and it might give us, well the viewers, a reason why Aram snaps. I never completely understood the Mesema plot so if they're keeping his and specifically Aram, plots, might be easier to say Aram snaps because a forsaken(Greandal?) messed with his mind than he met a guy who turns people psychotic. Also, the grandparents could be swapped for Kaylie and Ntale in the waste instead of just random merchants.
As for look forward
The Manetheran speech, even truncated, I'm looking forward to that.
Mats old tongue episodes, hoping they do it justice
Mat blowing the horn of Valere, obviously in s2
I really hope we get the scene of Mat v Gawyn and Galad
These last few are a little farther out but I'll assume we get there.
The cleansing
I hope Zoe is practicing the Golden Crane speech now
I'm also looking forward to what changes they make to the last few books, e.g. I think we need to Tar Valon attacked by shadowspawn. That doesn't happen in the books but I just the the visual would be too much for the show to pass up.

It probably wasn't possible to end GOT well and if Martin ever, doubt it, finishes aSoIaF, people won't like it. They liked the blood and sex in the show but not the logic conclusion of that. The book begins with a beheading, Ice and Fire wasn't a remotely happy ending story but people wanted it that way, forgetting that John and Dany are Related to each other so not a traditional ending. Biggest things for WOT is, it's finished, it does have a traditional ending and it will have more going for it than sex and blood.
-
That's the difference WOT is finished so the team can adapt the whole series, not go book by book. The GOT writers may have, foolishly as it turns out, expected Martin to finish Ice and Fire while they were doing the show. After all, if I remember correctly, Harry Potter movies started when the series wasn't finished.

Not that I know but my guess is it'll be 2 or 3 at once and then weekly after that.
