Remember, Mat also killed Couladin and fought the Gholam to a draw several times. Mat is the best melee and I think either Lan, Demandred or Rand, post veins of gold are the best swordsmen.
-
Demandred never for Rand after his memories returned.
-
It's also the point at which Perrin irrevocably chooses the world over selfishness or rather has it chosen. It'll probably change in the show and it also showcases saidin, both light and dark, also Demandred as I assume he'll be put back to Taimandred.

@ThrasymachusYou have some issues there and I have a feeling they have very little to with some props that don't look a certain way and more with characters not looking the 'right' way.
-
I realize small changes may portend larger ones later but I'm sure very few will notice a different sword and dagger design.
-
The difference between LOTR books and movies are quite a few, some large but now I see why those changes were made. I'll always hold Bombadil against him even though I understand. Same with WOT where they'll be plenty of changes which hopefully make it better.
If Marvel fans are happy with Nick Fury's portrayal in the MCU, I think WOT fans can get used rubies being in the wrong place.

Aren't the hilt and pommel basically the same thing which I think is the point. The show is targeted at readers and non-readers alike and of the reader pool, only a tiny fraction, me not included, are aware enough to know the ins and outs of hand weapons.
As for Mat acquiring the dagger, previews are designed to generate excitement, not necessarily bear true and faithful allegiance to the script. Given that one of the characters said lets make a deal over a scene of a decorative weapon, they succeded.
-
I also think it's good that they're casting relative unknowns. Although one thing to consider, if they weren't before, they'll have to break the timeline now, as on top of the time filming 8 seasons, if possible, the extra 1 to 2 years just adds to the fact you can't fake a 35-year old to look 18, again if it goes that long.
-
Also, let's make a deal is such a part of Mat, to a certain extent, that it could've come from anywhere. I mean he's more of a gambler, let's make a deal, than a professional lets make a deal.

You should wait and see, sometimes mental images aren't the last word. Like, as someone else posted here, everyone had one image of Nick Fury in Marvel but now he's Samuel L. Jackson, same with the series. I'm legally-blind so images aren't my thing. For me it will be voices as I've only listened to the audiobooks and I have to get used to more than two voices.
-
The dialogue and picture or whatever, I haven't seen it yet could be from two different places and argument is pointless.
-
If that's real and not trailer games, it changes Mat if he gives Mordeth the dagger because that would indicate he made a bargain with Mordeth, a big no no. That might mean Mat will have some darkness in him throughout the series. Though, I think the fact that Fain is in the series, indicates it's trailer games because Fain's only interesting because of the merging.
-
I hope they don't change it and that's from two different scenes because having Mat accept the dagger changes things too much.

Dumais Wells is the Ashaman working to free Rand, some for good, some for the DO and remember Demandred was originally Tiam so he does think he's dominant. Also most of the people who die at Dumais Well are Shaido men who are in the way. Besides Rand was caged and tortured, as far I remember, Min isn't really shown and Rand is going insane, his reaction isn't stable anyway. Most importantly though, there's been 3,000 yrs of female AS dominance and brutality toward men who can channel and then the pendelum swings.
-
With Mat being who he is, I assume they need at least some strategists.
-
For the amount of money they're spending, one would hope they have military historians on the payroll. My guess is they will because of all the different cultures but the boys at least are good with a weapon to start. Rand gets good with the sword plus you a strategist for Mat, if the show gets that far from Book 4 on, he's basically an instant general.
-
You can make it a love thing too but I think you should give reasons other than taveren for as much as you possibly can.
-
@ThrasymachusI hope they emphasize the noble angle with Elayne and Rand, like she's betrothed or marries because he's the Dragon. Conversely, you could play up that he's the heir of the last house and for that reason, she's betrothed to him. I just think WOT already has too many because plot, elements and other explanations should be found for as many as possible.
-
I don't know if they'll go to the tower since it'll take a long time to get there and to Fal Dara and I don't see a group of AS travelling the Ways. Rand in TV would be too big of a leap.
-
Maybe they'll merge Narg and Bella.
-
There might be some sort of combo commercial, especially if the Expanse is ending in the fall, Carnival Rowe is coming back, LotR and WOT are coming, the boys and probably others, plus movies, they may want to do something.
-
I don't think Rand, Mat, Perrin, Elayne or Nyneave can die. If you kill anyone, I think it's Egwene, earlier that supposed to and Gawyn. @Elder_Hamanthinks Gawyn and Galad should be merged and I see that as an option but I think killing him is better for the story.
Like I and others have said, you have to look at killing characters like Balefiring people. Killing Perrin would require too much work to fix as would Faile, much as some don't like her.
I don't agree but I wonder like an earlier post said, would they leave Moraine dead? I don't like it and you'd have to change a few things, like Mats arc, unless she expects to be alive but the Fins accidentally kill her. I say leave her dead because Rosamund won a golden globe, may win an oscar and who knows what else. Amazon and the show people will probably do a cost benefit analysis of keeping her, and paying her, vs leaving her dead and building up someone new they don't have to pay as much.
-
I have no idea who's right, having next to no knowledge of that but @Elder_HamanI agree that not changing voice actors is important, probably moreso for TV. Having listened to the entire WOT on audio numerous times and much of Brandon's work, I couldn't imagine changing out Michael or Kate at ACoS or something and that will be one of my TV show issues, to unhear the audio voices.

@Thrasymachus if it only takes a month or so, why not wait until all the episodes are done, if they're not, rather than waste money?

That could work for Machin Shin but I think you need a physical manifestation, especially after it interacts with Fain and tries to escape.
