Are they really saying that the last WoT books gonna be published in 2012? WE HAVE TO WAIT MORE THAN A YEAR FROM NOW! Everything before this said late 2011, a year after Towers of Midnight. Just like how ToM was a year after TGS! I mean really we have to wait even longer for the final book to come out!

The release date of the final volume is only a year and probably less than six months after the release of ToM, that's not bad considering the probable size of the book.

I agree with Yuoaman....A Memory of Light is going to be massive, and writing that a book of that size takes time. So long as it is written well, I wouldnt mind waiting even longer(not that I want that to happen of course). It wouldnt surprise me if this book is damn near double the size of ToM.

Brandon has said that AMoL will be approximately the same size as 'The Gathering Storm' and 'Towers of Midnight', and the release of AMoL is supposed to be Feb/Mar of 2012, about 16 months after release of Tom. Part of the delay is that Brandon has said that he has set aside 2 months for a complete re-read of the series and the supporting notes before he starts on AMoL in order to make sure he has ALL of the important plot threads and unanswered questions in mind when he starts writing the last book. I, personally, think that this is very commendable and considerate of the fans. I would rather wait a few extra months and get a complete book that I am happy to read, instead of getting the next one in November of 2011 and then it ends up being extremely disappointing, leaving too many things just up in the air. that is my preference, some may prefer to have the early release=bad book, but I'm willing to wait to make sure it's good.,

I was lucky enough to snag myself 3 complete sets of the comics, but the later ones really were different than the ones in the first run. The art was not bad just different in the latter books and I liked it better in the begining. I also missed the glossery that was in the earlier issues. I hope that they include that when they release the GN. I will have to get 3 of these too in order to make my sets complete. Hope they include some of the stuff from the preview issue as well.

Given that I paid for the whole set in 2005, got 5 issues then and one issue in 2008, will Tor give me the whole thing for free?

I'm expecting to be given this for free since I paid for an entire series of books I never received. A couple of months ago, Les sent me an email saying he had the last three issues of New Spring and was preparing to ship them out. I never received anything again on NS. I did receive WOT #2 though...wow, another series I paid for and still haven't received.

It would be nice to receive the graphic novel in the mail for Xmas and for FREE. How many times must the WOT fans get screwed. Both GRRM Hedge Knight comic book stories were completed on time and extremely well done. And done by the Dabel Bros. The same Dabel Bros. who can't get WOT done on time. Red Eagle, Dabel, whomever, do right by the WOT fans. Or get lost.

And get me my books.

Guys, you need to keep in mind that TOR had little if nothing to do with what Dabel Bros + Red Eagle did or did not send out - expecting their product for free due to another company's error is a bit silly. :P

No, it's not silly. It's the right thing to do. If TOR bought the IP outright to produce this book, I could probably even make a fairly good argument in contract law that TOR is the successor to the contractual obligations of Dabel & Red Eagle (henceforth, collectively, the "Thieves") to those of us who were cheated by the Thieves. What is more likely is that TOR is licensing the images from whomever is the ultimate holder. If one of the Thieves is currently the license holder, it's fairly simple for a powerhouse like TOR to force the delivery of the remaining comics to those of us cheated. It gets more complicated if RJ's estate holds the licenses, but again, they also are able to easily force the Thieves to live up to their contractual obligations, or at least refund us.

Perhaps try writing a polite request, explain that you paid already and never received the full product, and see if they would reward your long patience with a free or discounted copy.

It never hurts to ask. And might yield a satisfactory result and a letter to them would be more successful in attaining your desires outcome than anything you'll post here.

Also, we are talking about $17.00 product. I understand it's more the principle, and $17.00 is still $17.00 dollars, which is a lot when you only have a little. But honestly, you only get refunds or compensations when you ask for them, and generally you have to prove that you paid what you paid and when you paid it. Like with a reciept, but I would encourage all of the people that had paid for the New Spring series to either ask Dabel Bros. for a refund or ask Tor for a discount.

I have been waiting for this for a while now as I never wanted to buy an incomplete set. I wonder if we will get a digital version for tablets too? Would be nice :-)

I so wish the main series can be completed in a similar vain or an animation series to be made as I dont think a movie is going to come about and even then if I am wrong, and it does; I dont think it will meet expectations. I feel the series has become too big to be reproduced for cinema and would culminate in a watered down product.

I have all the comics at least all the ones released. I thought Dabel Bros and Red were pretty pathetic. Taking to long to release them, complaining about money. Seriously not very professional at all. It's nice to see that the whole thing will be one graphic novel. 15 dollars 17 dollars that's nothing sign me up ^_-

As many of you may remember from the forums, I had put gathered many individuals who never received the final copies of the original comic run, and was in contact with Dabel on their behalf, as well as my own. The problem with providing proof of purchase is the length of time that has elapsed since the initial purpose. When the series first came out, my wife (then my girlfriend) purchased the series for me as a birthday gift using her college email account as the mode of communication. That account, along with the electronic receipt was reabsorbed into the ether more than 3 years ago. Many I've spoken with share this sort of problem, where the length of delay has exceeded the reasonable time for storage of purchase documentation. I have tried in numerous email to convey the frustration and dissatisfaction of the customers to those producing the product. In all of my communications I have been nothing but polite and straight forward with the individuals I've contacted. Those of you I've spoken with will know that the results have been less than satisfactory. In August of last year I received the first response from Dabel:

Hi Andrew how are you doing. As of right now I have envelopes pre-stamped and labeled. We are just waiting on our copies from Dynamite and once we receive them we can send them out. I hope to have an update within the next couple days. Thanks for your patience and sorry for any inconvenience.

A month later, after having received neither comics nor word of their shipping, I wrote another email asking for an update. My response this time was as follows:

Hi Andrew. The box of books was just received last week so they will start going out this week. Thanks.

Two weeks later, after again having received neither my product nor word of shipping, I wrote again asking for an update. To this date I have yet to receive a response. When I was fortunate enough to have a Q&A session with Brandon and Harriet for the Cincinnati release of Towers of Midnight I asked Harriet if anything could be done to influence the Dabels to produce our products or compensate us in some way. When Harriet heard my question her face grew (from my point of view) quite serious and she told me that they have people working on it.

I've emailed everyone who has contacted me with this information, and figured that it should be shared with the greater fan community as well. I'm not certain if a resolution is anywhere within sight, but there is some hope. At this point I am kicking myself for not purchasing issue 7 when I saw it in a comic shop. I thought at the time "surely if the comic store has it, then my copy won't be far behind." I guess that is just another example of why I should never tempt fate. Personally I could care less about a refund. Even with shipping it will come to less than $10. But I am a collector who can't stand when I can't complete a set, and buying the graphic novel would only slightly mitigate my sense of irritation that my wife's gift has yet to be fully realized. I guess I'll just continue to wait and find out.

I hope some of this rant was informational, and apologize if it came across as so much complaining.
