On a game related note am I the only one who cringed at Pral's "ZOMG Zander so towny" post?

 

It was a joke right?

I kind of did too, mainly because I expect Pral to come in with a decent chunk of substance once the game has been running a while.

 

But then I looked at the timestamps and thought he's probably still catching up, so I'd give him some more time.

How often do you guys actually lynch a wolf on day 1 around here?

First question, yes.

 

Second question, depends on the field, but when there are few to no slankers I'd say we lynch a wolf D1 at least half of the time.

 

This game has had quite a lot of slankers.

 

 

Ok, that's what I figured and lends into what I'm saying.  I can see it here 60 pages in, no votes, no content, just a bunch of people calling each other town and spamming.

 

It seems extremely inefficient and ineffective and makes for a shit done of terrible reading. 

 

I'm not going to come in here and try to be a mafia savant, and tell you all how to play.  I have my flaws as does JN...but 60 pages in and this game isnt going anywhere. I wonder why?

TBH despite a number of Dave's posts from now make me go he's still far more likely to be Town imo.

And if I'm wrong it'll become increasingly obvious later in the game with what I've seen thus far. Not lynching him today

Honestly it will be interesting to see who flips what. But I know that an inactive will be killed in the night (it's something mafia would do and it's a good strategy that doesn't give anything away), so we won't get any real clues as to who is town or mafia.

So in my opinion, we have to lynch someone for better or for worse.

 

:dry: I know you guys will interpret that as scummy, but it's not. In fact mafia would want no majority to be reached so that they could get two kills.

 

Which brings a thought to mind, has anyone been hindering the build up of any train on a single person? Maybe some clues are there

List incoming - I don't have a lot of hard reads except for a few townies so in order to maximize my annoyance of JiF I'll just post what I'm thinking so far.  It'll be fun!

You make that sound like the only correct way is your way, which is not true.  JiF has been playing his way on JN for years, and he's done well.

 

I think the biggest difference is the amount of subtlety used.  JiF and I both come from a mafia time/place that prefers more subtlety than the way mafia is played now on a lot of sites (POG, MU, etc).

 

Two routes to the same destination, imo.

 

I signed up for a second game at JN because I liked it, not because I want to change it.  

 

But I'm going to be a bit defensive when for two straight games strangers show up to tell us how much our playstyle sucks.  I took deserved heat for doing the same in my first JN game.

Ironic you say that, when that essentially is EXACTLY what Tom & Cory did to us here at DM when they first came over.  I battled Cory a lot at first on that very subject, and we came to an understanding (I think) that different doesn't mean better - it just means what I said above = 2 routes to the same destination.

@JiF #1091, read changes are only unaccountable in a dead game where people just post "I think John's a wolf" etc without any reasoning. That generally gets lynched here if it goes on long enough and there's not a strong meta basis to know that the player is going to holster their thoughts as either alignment. Villagers change their reads all the time, but they do it for reasons, and the more effective players are at expressing their thoughts the more the wolves are forced to make up bullshit to keep up.

 

I moved Darthe from town down to null a few posts ago because I feel like he's mostly been chucking out one-liners about people without much expressed thought or follow-through. It was a decent look for him early game vs doing nothing but we've reached a point where he should have more. It's easily faked stuff, hence null.

 

See? Read changes, Shad is still accountable. Open villages slaughter wolves.

 

In theory you are but you're actually not.  We shall see I guess.
