Ive seen Town!Shad get so absorbed into games, and I dont think its something he could just shut off like that.

 

 

I've been accused of this shit in like the last eight games I've played here, even when I'm the top poster by a mile.

 

I literally can't play a game of Mafia on DM without being told I don't contribute enough.

 

I contribute more than almost anybody.

 

Not going to get baited into this and if y'all keep on expecting me to put my life aside every time I play a game I'm just going to play somewhere else.

What do you take from him 'not realizing how the traitor worked'. Was it legit? Was it alignment indicative?

She posted the vote as a "snap vote to Zander posting the Trump thing" but hadn't given an actual read of him.

 

I developed a Town one while she wasn't there.

You have a qt. That's hydra play, two heads to cover but also twice the liability on thread.

Slightly off-topic, but when playing as a hydra, do you get a standard QT like if you're mafia or in the death thread? I haven't been part of one before.

Ok, I'm back. Lots of interesting stuff happening in the mean time. You can disagree with, hate on, or generally disapprove of my claim, but I'm seeing an incredible amount of focus and consideration over details that we simply weren't at before I'd done so. However, I'm still seeing people who seem confused as to why I did it, or why I felt it was the right move for the time. So, I'll go ahead and recap once more:

 

I know I wasn't the prime suspect or even close to a lynch when I claimed. My decision was based on a few pieces of information simultaneously. 

1. I was completely sick of the dynamic between Zander and myself. I owned up to my part last night and tried to move on, and he continued to tunnel me harder no matter what I said to try and look at other people as potential mafia. Every time I posted I was being accused of not reading posts, having flawed conclusions, and generally I felt that I had completely ceased serving town's best interest by continuing to engage him when he did so. 

2. Marsh made a post I quoted in my claim post that mentions a way town could glean some information about the scum team depending on what (if any) power rolls we (town) had. It completely made sense, but despite reading the setup a few times, I didn't feel I was able to put the pieces together myself knowing my role and that we had an IC. So claiming could give town some info on what the wolves have in their toolbox. 

3. In the buffy game, Marsh was town cop and was NK'd the first night, without having any real major connections to people he believed to be town or people he was sussing. We had lost a major power role the first night and we didn't get any decent information as a result of it because we didn't have much content from him to go on. 

4. In this game, up until I claimed, it seemed that we were headed for a random lynch when deadline arrived, because no one was really agreeing on anything, and people were just entrenching themselves deeper: Sooh had taken on something of a "you're all against me anyway" tone, Zander was riding me like Secretariat no matter what I said, Darthe was contributing short observations and brief questions, we had two players who'd barely posted anything, people still casing based on play from Manbat's time (not that this is inherently a bad thing, but it seemed more of a primary focus than anything Cass was doing in real time) - There was no one really stepping up to the plate and leading a scum hunt, and miscommunication, misremembering, people being too lazy to catch up in the thread themselves (or people who were just legit too busy to do so) was leading us to a D1 lynch that would've told us nothing and helped in exactly zero ways. 

 

A lot of my play with Zander prior to my decision to claim my role was based on knowing that I had this option at any point - I know it's generally viewed as a crazy or ill-advised move so early in a game, but since then we've seen a lot of quality content from people trying to squeeze the most out of our few remaining hours before deadline. Sure there's some WIFOM, and there's some dispute over whether or not my method was truly making the most out of my role. But I picked a point to reveal where I felt it could still have a positive impact for town instead of coming across as a last minute "don't lynch me!" if Zander kept trying to go for my throat. I obviously hadn't established enough townie cred with most of the players in here, so my viewing ability becomes marginalized by the current perception of me in game. 

 

Then I realized that if I lived through N1 and viewed Zander in secret, what then? He definitely would've been my view in that scenario, and if he showed guilty I'd already made a case on him that had holes in it, so I doubt I could've done better knowing for certain. If he flipped town, everyone would wonder why I was trying so hard to vet him, especially since I'd tried moving beyond him twice, and he kept pulling me back in. It would've happened, and we'd have gained nothing. 

 

Given all of that, I feel I made a good play by claiming now, I feel we've got a decent chance at lynching mafia or getting a solid flip on someone D1 that provides players on D2 some real info. If I survive the night somehow, I've already pledged to you all the option to control my viewing. If I die, I was able to get town trying to work together even in my sacrifice. It felt, and still feels, like the right move for me at this point.

I can never tell if you're being sarcastic or not with things like this, but if you're sincere, then that does make me feel a bit validated. I just started to view the role itself as my best ammunition at this point in this game, instead of the role's ability.
