Life can be hard when you're a genius.  This was a fact that Hallia was well aware of.  After a long day of tinkering with her teleportation device, she was simply exhausted...who knew that transmitting physical material through time and space could be so much work?

 

Hallia took off her glasses as she laid down and activated a complex series of alarm systems designed to blast anyone that entered her room before shutting off the lights.  Her friends had been dropping like flies (this is a joke I'm making, mostly because the last nightkill was a frog.  too subtle? LMK guys), and Hallia was beginning to fear for her life.  Still, she couldn't let the bad guys intimidate her...much.

 

The door to her room slowly opened.  The next second, a figure was standing over her - as if she had teleported across the room and past the sensors.  Whoever it was had gone completely undetected.  Hallia never even woke up before a knife was dragged from one end of her neck to the other.  The woman disappeared again.

 

Sometimes, science and magic aren't so different.
