Does anyone vape?

Do you like it? I'm trying to stop smoking and this will be the second time I have gotten a vape and I'm trying to quit using it.

Any advice?

I quit smoking using Chantix, which I consider a wonder drug. My only advice, and take it with a grain of salt, is to not give up the vape until you're sure you won't go back to smoking.

Chantix worked until I ran out of the pills. It was like as soon as I stopped taking them, the urges came right back twice as powerful as before. Plus my kids said I went crazy while on it. The mood fluctuations were scary for me.

Hey Torrie!

Quitting is HARD! I did it but I didn't have Vape as a choice. I quit using the gum and an app on my phone called Quit Now. Whenever I had the urge to smoke a grabbed a piece of gum instead. After about 2 weeks I was seeing a decrease in the amount of gum and after 6 weeks I didn't have any more cravings. The first year after that was tough, especially being around other people smoking, but I kept using the app that showed me how well I was doing and that worked.

I agree with Lily though, whatever you use don't stop until the urges are gone.

Good luck!

bubba's sorta trying to quit.   he's tried vaping, but (much to my disappointment) still buys a pack every other day  <_<   this is his 2nd time trying to use vaping as a replacement, but the different style of smoking isn't doing it for him.  we went to a vape shop, where they actually mix the liquids with the different strengths of nicotine.

to vape correctly, you have to pull it into your mouth (kinda like sucking on a straw, just not pulling as hard) then inhale the vapor.

if you're serious about it, i'd 100% suggest going to a vape shop, rather than buying the ones from behind the counter.  its a bit more expensive, but you can get all sorts of flavors, and control exactly how much nicotine and they also said something about being able to adjust the 'throat hit' with the vapor *shrugs*

Thank Rhea and Red! I'm a  1 1/2 pack smoker a day. I've got to do something to stop.

I've gotten both my vapes from the vape shops and do the nicotine juice. The first one I got was the vape pin and the second one is the bigger (better?) one. I tried one from behind the counter, but it was crap. I mean pure crap. It tasted horrible.

One of the issue I have though is I feel like I vape a lot more than I smoked.

You could always try going cold turkey. I did, after smoking almost 2 packs a day for over 20 years. Haven't felt like a cigarette since the day I quit. It's not hard for everyone, apparently.

I vape from time to time.

I'm in a weird position where I've never quit (my "worst" was a pack-a-week during college) but since then i call myself a "pack a year" smoker, which confused my doctor to no end.

"Why don't you quit completely?"

"I don't want to."

"It's bad for you."

"I smoke maybe 6 times a year, I doubt that's the least healthy thing I do."

I've tried cold turkey, Elgee. My kids told me I was never allowed to do that again. Evidently, I became a raging witch.

I wish I could only smoke a pack a year, Tyzack. I wouldn't worry about it either, if I only smoked that many.

I can't offer anything more than support, Torrie, but I wish you all the best in quitting!

My dad quit cold turkey when I was little after I puked all over the car when he lit one up as we drove through the Alps . . .

Kid who gets easily carsick in the back seat + very curvy/winding roads + cold outside so windows rolled up + heater on in car + cigarette smoke = kid who didn't get the window rolled down in time and sicked up all over the back seat = dad who quit smoking cold-turkey

I'm rooting for you!!!!!

I'm also a "pack a year" smoker but I'm sort of at the point where I haven't smoked in over two.

When I was moving over the summer i found two unopened cartons in my closet.

I guess I was feeling reblious on one of my over-seas journeys...

I have two unfinished packs of cloves, a few packages of pipe tobacco and some cigarettes my sister smuggled out of China. They're just sitting in my freezer right now. I might just throw that stuff away. ;;>_>

Ha, one of my cartoons were cloves, the other were Galiouse...

Wow, Cloves. I hadn't thought of them in years, although I never really liked them. Too harsh.

Wren, are Chinese cigarettes different than American cigarettes?

They are significantly harsher than a pack of Marlboro Red. Snap the filter off a Red, dab the cig in soot and ash and that's what you get.

She brought them back to deter her from smoking, not because she enjoys them in any significant way.

I send strength to all who are quitting smoking.

I was with my mother when she died of lung cancer.  It involved lots of suffering before that happened.
