Is this true?

Norwegians use the word "texas" as slang to mean crazy, it has emerged. But when did this start happening, and how unusual is it?

To most of the world, Texas is known as a big state in southern America.

But to Norwegians, it is also a word that frequently crops up in everyday conversation - often in the phrase "Der var helt texas!" [That was very completely/totally texas!].

The word is slang for "crazy" or "wild" and is used to refer to a chaotic atmosphere

Yes, it's true.

Something can also be totally Harry, which means that it's kind of hick.

Wouldn't Harry mean magical?

the expression "Harry" came way before HP was even a thing

Well.. I suppose that's an image that would resemble some people in Scandinavia, though which language he's supposed to speak I have no idea

He's speaking muppet :)

This much I know, but I have seen plenty of muppets speaking actual languages

I´ve never heard of those expressions before. There is nothing like it here in Sweden.

I'd say that was insulting but then I recalled that I think of most Scandinavians as variations on the Swedish chef, so...

Ha, ha.

It´s obviously Danish. *nods*
