Like it's such a weird thing to say even for Thane. He's not questioning or speculating the mechanics, he's critiquing the balance of a game in which no wolf roles are actively known based on some town roles that have been either revealed or claimed. I believe it was in an attempt to lead up to a Lenlo vote? I need to reread that and why he said that because it's just not clicking and that's not what I'm talking about when I say "Thane talks about mechanics sometimes"

 

I believe he is opposed to a Lenlo lynch and trusting the claim.  I don't even remember what prompted the comment - it just seemed like something a townie wouldn't be saying basically ever.  There's exactly ONE reason town would make that post, and I don't believe Thane would ever take that approach the game.

If I remember right in US Lenlo was pretty busy and not really invested in the game, someone called him out for a "slip" he didn't make and since he was up against 15 mafia that was pretty much the end of it.  For whatever that's worth.

I also just realized that deadline isn't tonight.  My work week is Sunday through Thursday, so today was my "Wednesday".  I was about to say we need to get this down to one or two candidates and hammer out a lynch, but lolme.

He wasn't invested in Woodstock either. But that's not universal to him, I've seen him as a tryhard wolf before (I wolfed with him in Real Genius some time ago where he got really far and played very well)

 

I guess the question I have is whether or not he bothers to hide behind a roleclaim at all, which is NOT something I remember him doing as mafia and did not do as an attempt to defend himself in previous games while getting run up as a wolf.

But that could very much be dictated by his teammates, so IDK if it's even worth thinking about. If your teammates wanted you to claim a role to fish out a CC / dodge the lynch, they'd probably go with doc. That's a pretty DM thing and sort of ingrained into why actual doctors get lynched all the time.

I can just see Wolf!Yates making that post thinking "well, if one of us flips wolf, the other will be clear because we'd 'never claim that' after what happened in Star Wars / etc / the 'lynch all masons' meme that has happened since"

 

Just seems like an intentionally-tricksy sort of thing that rubbed me the wrong way

Would you believe I don't really see any reason your alignment + claim combination impacts his claim?  If you're a 1-shot rolecop, regardless of whether or not you're town, I think that increases the plausibility of a 1-shot doctor.  Without trying to game the mod too much, I don't know that Nolder decides "Let's make town powers unlimited, and mafia 1-shot"
