Doing a team chart in a game that's rowed 20x20 is probably the worst exercise in futility and a completely inefficient use of my time

But old habits

caught up finally!
keeping up with this game is going to be a task lol. I know we have 30 pages already, but alot of it is just fluff. I saw some good points by clov, and cory here recently. I need to look over the sili/ kiv situation again.

I have a gaint quote list to still type up now ><

I've noticed, too that we're playing with parents - that's cool, I hope to still be playing Mafia when I've had children.

I'm 15 years old. And now I'm broke. Take a lesson from me: Stay in school, wrap your tool.

Yates business hours are closed ffs

Putting in the over time. Baby needs a box of diapers.

Yates, are you caught up?

Almost. I'm at Beck's post quoted above on page 26 or 27.

One more time with feeling: i made no accusation against Pral. I prodded him to participate because if he happens to be scum this game, i want content to analyze. If I haven't made this clear enough in this and other threads, I DON'T BELIEVE IN META. Good players can stay consistent across alignment and bad players will get caught making mistakes with or without meta on them. Other than wanting to know if particular arguments are out of character for a player (if i start advocating no lynch D1, there's something weird going on), things like affect and tone are meaningless to me, because they can be faked so easily Sent from my SM-G900P using Tapatalk

I don't see how the bold isn't a complete lie.

Since nobody is doing anything ... [v]Pralaya[/v].  If my memory is right, he likes to lurk as scum, and hasn't checked in yet.  Pral, where're you at?  Start laying some content down.

That was your vote and explanation.  You could have just voted him and made a comment like "Come out and play" and left it there.  You deliberately pointed out that you associate him with lurking as mafia, and you point out that he's not being active.  You didn't say, "I think Pral is scum", but I think there's a pretty clear insinuation in that post.

Also something to note is that Pral wasn't the only player that hadn't checked in at the time either.  So it's interesting that Kivam singles him out.

I have a mild concern about a player but I am not going to air it out yet

The player I was concerned about was BFG.

At the time BFG had made a single post:

Good morning :)

Innocuous enough. I think this is about ~8 AM her time, so a checking in before work/whatever type deal. I expected she'd post a couple of times and chat around before her volume dropped off, as she's been very comfortable and very involved in her last handful of villager games.

Nothing followed this. Again, not going to condemn someone who could be having a busy morning, IDK what people's IRL deals are, whatever. But it reminded me of something I had mentally noted down in 9 to 5 mafia when I was her mafia partner for a day (she subbed out around ~n1) - BFG has some trouble naturally interacting in real time with people as Mafia. IDK if it's just that little trigger in your brain that looks over a post and goes "should I post?" not hitting out of some weird self-consciousness, but I remember it there, and I remember in the one day I was playing with her I was making sure to talk to her ITT and give her lines to pursue because she wasn't really moving on her own volition.

She was more active in a different Mafia game - AH's Pokemon game - and I am going to look it over when I get time, but even know her contribution is one "larger" more succinct reads posts where she discusses various things (#582) but again is not really interested in communicating openly and in real-time. Reminds me a lot of Cass tbh - assumes people will find a wall of words / reads villagery and leave it alone for some time, but lacks the minute-by-minute commitment and willingness to relax and discuss ITT.

Not a condemnation and I want to to chew on it some more but if I would guess this is Mafia!BFG more often than Town!BFG by a fair margin.

That was around 8.40am my time and I needed to get to work, I've since been out all day/evening

hi DM

um im still getting used to the layout, the post quotes, and everyone's pretty faces so i might need a little bit

my name is Beck, feel free to ask me any questions

and i'm off to work so i'll be poking my head in throughout the day

So I'm home from work and am trying to catch up while cooking dinner but for every post I read I feel like two more are added.

I've noticed, too that we're playing with parents - that's cool, I hope to still be playing Mafia when I've had children. Anyway. My apologies, Kiv, for being a Jets fan. :P

Anyway, so yeah. I'm still getting used to this forum and everyone, and these hydras are throwing my head for a whirl. But I'm also getting used to it. (At least this forum is only 20ppp.)

- I've noticed there's a lot of friendly small-talk and jokes here without a lot of agressive retorts. Some forums I've played at will take "jokes" very seriously and it's lame. So that's nice.

- Some players seem to like to comment on everything they can, which isn't alignment indicative, just a play-style. But I enjoy concise posts, more often than not I've found scum in long posts trying to steer thought.

- Cory is a pretty popular guy.

- Interesting back and forth between Kiv and keyholder a few pages ago? Like it's agressive but then apologetic? Kiv, why the removal so suddenly?

I love when I'm trying to make a post and it says "30 new posts".

Seriously.

But dinner is about done, I'll be back soon to conclude catching up.

Worth noting on the same line of thought I have played ~1 game with Beck where he was a villager and I remember him being far more relaxed and conversation then he's been in this game

I don't want to BOX HIM OUT because I get this might be a culture-related jump but the Mafia Universe game was also with several people, was content-heavy AND had many unfamiliar faces, and he had little problem adjusting and making intelligent posts there

Well you've been back for a bit to catch up on the thread and you're still going with WoT "here are my reads" catch-ups rather than presenting your reads as they come in and interacting with people around in a meaningful way

Back in the day Despot told me something about reading you through how you present your WoTs and discuss but I don't remember what he said

And I feel like that's not really even your villager style nowadays anyway

I actually didn't think about that.  I'd have to check to see who else hadn't posted yet, but this could be a very helpful observation for later.

Yates, are you caught up?

Yes. NOW I'm caught up. I knew if I didn't put in some overtime I'd be in eternal catch up mode. Screw that noise.

What was your problem with Bewbs? I'm thinking about sheeping her and Hally onto Kivam.

Posted

I mean Ocicat/John Snow are yet to check in at this moment

I don't really know how relevant that is to making a read or how "helpful" that observation would be

In either alignment I could see Kiv pointing out Pral not posting because Pral has such a known habit of missing long stretches

Doesn't make the action itself any better, but if you asked me "who's a player that hasn't posted yet?" he would come to mind first just because of the association

I was going to try something new and try to establish my reads in a more alanna/bfg sort of way. I really am trying to clear up the confusion that I can sometimes cause .

but maybe it is a bad idea after reading this /:

Think early on in HoC - I associate Town!Nyn with being incredibly committed to her reads and genuinely pushing them.  It's not uncommon for her to write multiple paragraphs at a time trying to push somebody and explain her side.  She barely said a sentence in a half between two or three posts where she pushed Kivam.  I wanted to see how committed she was to it and how much effort she actually made in explaining herself.

This seriously just rings false in my head

Honestly there's nothing wrong with trying new things as long as you are transparent about it and what you are thinking makes sense

Don't feel dis-encouraged because people might read you differently, if you are villagery they will reassess

Really?  After our discussion yesterday, you don't see how Kivam - specifically - singling out one inactive (who he admits to having minimal experience with) while there were others he could have mentioned could be worth noting for once there are some flips?

wot's i think are a good way to keep your thoughts in order, and makes it easier for people to actually understand you. although I am just quoting, and typing my thought underneath currently lol. after last game, and my soulread fiasco. that is what a wot is yes? because I see the term used, but I don't know what it means

Posted

Clov - it might be insinuation from you. It's not from me. Can't really say much more beyond that. You'll either believe me or you won't

Okay let's play this out hypothetically

Kivam flips mafia

Pral, Player A, Player B, Player C and Player D all were inactive at the time of that post

Give me your reads on Pral and Player A-D and what Kivam only mentioning Pral means

Convince me any line of throught regarding this is > rand.

Because when I got back it was nearly midnight and it's faster to read the thread in one go without interruption. Plan was to read thread, leave thoughts, sleep, start playing tomorrow in 'real time'. I got half way through the thread by 2.30 (I'm slow anyway and half asleep) and posted what I had. I was going to try and finish the rest of the thread, but it's too late for tonight and will have to wait.

That's perfectly fine

The problem is when it is a crutch and you hide behind it rather than interacting with people individually. I have had zero problem with the way you've posted this game, I marked #21, #29 and #62 for you trying to talk to people and force hands and stuff that helps me work you out in a linear fashion

I mean I'm mostly being selfish, as it's about what's easier for me

But that's just my opinion, man

Sili - why disappointing? You're misreading my subjective intent, the same way clov and nyn are. No amount of arguing is going to convince you about what's in my head, so what's the point?
