And BFG is looking good, loving the questioning

I agree with this ... which makes me think BFG is likely dead tonight.

Interesting strategy question - in a game like this, with likely no doctor, is announcing our town reads a particularly good play?

Hi Kiv

Yep, it's like deja vu all over again.  Pretty much my typical D1.

You are more engaged than in the past few. A game?

Posted

Soon enough you wont be able to shut me up. Remember, I'm most annoying on the weekends Leelou

Maybe you can actually spark some life into this game. Are you town?

Yeppers. And I haven't read the last 14 pages yet so I don't know what kind of life I'm going to spark. haha

I don't see why not; if we're announcing scum reads or those we're willing to lynch, it's going to be obvious anyways. Besides I wouldn't think the mafia is so dumb to not know any one player's town equity based on the flow of the thread. I can see where you're getting at in us having consensus town and potentially no doc, but I really don't see it as harmful to strategy to announce reads.

EBWOP *no doc

I had to look at the setup. I'm not paying attention, obviously.

Setup: 13 players

3 Mafia Goons

0-1 Town Innocent Child

0-1 Town Tracker

0-1 1x Town Cop

0-1 Town Jailkeeper

0-1 2x Town Vig

7 Vanilla Town

Catching up, I have a town read on Kiv, BFG, and Leelou.  I really like that short read list she posted.

I feel a bit better about Thane.  I think my problem is that I always scum read him, but now that he's posting actual reads based on game play, I like it.

Ready for more Laine.

I don't know about Seph.  My gut tells me town though.

Not liking Tina or Shad atm. (Gameplay that is, I love you both <3 )

Posted

ehh, I think you spilling the beans, had the dissuade factor. not sooh, nudging shad.

All due respect, Seph, this is silly.  Once Player A (Shad) has gotten pressure for voting Player X (You), Player X is no longer low hanging fruit and a cautious mafioso isn't going to come piling on to a bandwagon.

@BFG, because the "0-2" implies an assumption that they were actually attempted reads - i.e that darthe is town Sent from my SM-G900P using Tapatalk

I really dislike this post by kiv.

darthe posted them, so they are reads. apparently something you forgot while interpreting my post for me is MAFIA have to make reads as well!

I never once have called darthe town, and no it does NOT imply that.

[unvote]

[v] kiv[/v]

And this is also silly.  (Not the vote, but the thought process).  Mafia members don't make or post "reads".  Mafia members actually know the alignment of every player in the game, so anything couched as a read is nothing of the sort; it's a fake read (whether calling someone townie or scum).  But I'm getting the sense that you either haven't thought through the semantics of it or wouldn't care enough to make sure your post was clear, which would make that a null tell rather than potential TMI

TO the first part, the reason he was getting pressure, wasn't because he voted me. its because he didn't vote me until I asked him why he did not.

2nd part. your right they do know alignments, but I do not. I have no way of currently knowing if darthe is mafia or town.

So to me they are reads, and I will agree, or disagree if I want to. ITS NOT SILLY, it is me playing the game. I have no way of knowing if they are fake until a flip, or end game.

I really disagree with about everything you are saying lately.

I am feeling pretty good about everyone here. I need to re read a scum game with bfg, just in case because I know her games are similar.

hallia is more of meta, and tone, but she has given more reads this game then in most of her scum games :) keep it up!

@bfg - gun to your head, who do you lynch today? Sent from my SM-G900P using Tapatalk

Same question back at you?

Hallia or Tina, for the same reason they're almost always my choice on D1 ... because they slide under the radar without contributing much, and if I don't have a better D1 scumread, my default is to take out the players who aren't contributing in hopes of nailing lurking scum - or at least avoiding an enigma that needs to be dealt with later in the game.

In fact ... [v]Tina[/v]

I'll leave my vote there until she provides some content to the game

I think I agree with Sooh - it seems like you are poking everywhere right now. Not sure if it´s townie or not.

1. You will never see me posting a lot.

2. I´m one of the few that have voted this game, I think that is contributing.

3. I´m almost always your choice on D1? I don´t know how many games we have played together. I´m sure there are some but the only one I can remember right now is the Care Bears Mafia.

1 - yes.  I know.  I'm not concerned with quantity as much as quality, and until you just engaged, there wasn't much in the way of quality.

2 - Here was your vote:

[v] Seph [/v]

And hi Shad! I don´t think I have played with you before. I fear I will mix you and Seph in my head.

No, a vote with no explanation and a hello to another player is not "contributing"; it doesn't do anything to help solve the game and doesn't do anything to help clarify your own alignment.  Content. Reads lists. Thoughts on other players and not just the one voting you.  You don't have to post often - but if you're going to post rarely, make the ones you do actually post count for something.

3. Yeah, I vaguely remember that game, and I'm pretty sure I voted you D1 to prod you into participating, too.  (Of course, I also don't remember whether I was scum or town in that game, so ...).  I think I may have done it one other time as well.

Look, this is a philosophy thing for me.  Inactive players annoy me - especially when I am modding.  So part of my goal for D1 is to rattle as many cages as possible, generate as many reactions as possible, and especially from players who would otherwise stay silent.

So yeah, I will always be looking to send pressure your way (or Hallia's or other players known to be low-volume) on D1 in any game we play together, because that tends to bring you out with more content, which makes it easier to read your alignment later in the game.

I had not posted much game stuff when you wrote this but if you look at my post right before the vote you will see that I had a reason - I voted him because of possible TMI. I think I even quoted your post and said that I agreed with it.

I understand if you don´t like people that doesn´t post a lot. There are not as much to base your oppionions on. But I´m not a spammy person and I usually post things that has to do with the game. It doesn´t matter how much you poke me though, I won´t post more because I can´t post more. It´s not that I don´t want to be more active, I´m just not able to. And what you are getting with this is a post like this where I have to explain this yet again.

And no - in the Care Bears game I don´t think you did because I remember that I jumped into the game after 30 pages to read. You were mafia then. Not that that has anything to do with this game, since it was years ago. Your post makes it looks like you always poke me in every game we play but I can´t even remember playing in many games with you and when I played years ago I was more active than I can be now.

I just want to understand what Kivam is talking about when saying I (and Sooh? Don´t remember who it was.) was stopping a potential Seph wagon. Did you want it to be a Seph wagon? You unvoted Seph after that, which I take that you don´t think he is mafia. So you wanted a wagon to see who would vote him to catch mafia? Would people voting him be more likely mafia? I didn´t see many people wanting to vote Seph before that either. Actually, there were a lot of people defending him.

Yes, I wanted a Seph wagon, both before and after I thought he was scummy.  The vote on him was real, based on inconsistencies in his posts ... at least, given how I and others were reading them.  But his explanation for the discrepancies was a good one, and I believed it - at least enough to make me unvote.  But precisely because I thought his explanations were good, I waited to actually unvote to see whether any other players would pile onto him despite his answers - since that, to me, would be a sign of potential scum.  That's why I'd say people voting him once he had some momentum would have been more likely to be mafia; he already had a 3 vote train that had built before his explanations, so adding fuel to the fire would have been an easy scum play (and less easily understood as town play given his explanation).

Could you link me to the "a lot of people defending him"?

I don´t get the first sentence. You wanted a Seph wagon before you thought he was scummy? Did you mean town? Because you think he is town now, right?

I will have to go back and see who defended him. I know there were people saying that this is normal Seph play etc.

Posted

I didn´t find many people defending Seph, actually. It was Sooh and Talya.

I kinda like that Seph is trying to kickstart things. I think that's very positive for his alignment.

Oh I have a big boy job now, I'm a financial advisor, so daytime you prob won't see me like you used to.

Congrats Darthe, hope it goes well. Does this mean you won't go post mad....please?

should Darthe wield the axe... would be good, he'd be town then

Thane and seph have a wolf between them I think
Darthe... I usually like your early reads, but going 0-2 on page 5 is not a good look, I think that job is affecting your brain!

at the moment, i highly doubt that Darthe. Seph seems quite town, unless he's pulling somehting off from start D1 (which i doubt) and i have an awesome anti-wolf power up my sleave. So, if you're town as well, i'd like to throw you on the townpile and keep looking elsewhere

I'll town read Seph when I manage to piss him off and harvest massive emo town tell again.
Lol, well shad if you want to thunderdome on page 6, bring it :) it would be a much easier game, if I can get a town read on you. I have never seen you as scum before, and it worries me with how well you have been playing.
I feel like Shad's method for town reading me, is actually my method for town reading Dice lol.

Town list of awesomeness
Dice
Sooh
Thane

I suck at reading leelou, but her posts are fine. If she Is mafia, and darthe is town, I will the the cfd to him :)
Tayla I want to believe you are town! But if that is the case I think I need to give it another 15 games before I soulread again...
[V] darthe [/v] the soulread couldn't have been all wrong :(

You have explained Thane, why Dice and Sooh as town? There are other posts which explains your soul read thing. In which you say you were probably wrong, but you vote Darthe, what is your reasoning behind Darthe.

You misunderstood me. The soul read was of the scum team kiv.
If you notice, the town reads I gave you, are the ones I posted about itt.
There have actually been 0 flip flops, what do I look like LeBron james??

Wait. What?
Yuo
Yup, apparently I need to be more clear, because I see how it was read the other way. I thought soulread were always of the scum team??
Leelou don't be too upset, it's only page 6, and I doubt I was even close.
I was hoping to get a reaction out of darthe with all this, but kiv is just as good :)

So you are saying that you did it to get a reaction.

I'm getting a slight town read on Seph, he usually has me as town and says nice things to me when he is wolf, lol. Seems more relaxed in this game so far. So I agree just trying to get the game started

I really liked the interaction between the two of them.
Sooh is probably my stongest town read, her tone is great, she isn't posting cautiously. She is all around towny in my eyes!

I'm kind of agreeing with you on this one.  Tone is strikingly different from Alien and SW.  Sooh, are we team mates for once?

I hope so.. If you're town we are.

I'm a bit irked by the way you've been using semantics against Seph so far in this game. To me Seph reads like trying to kickstart the game and wanting to get reactions, which he has gotten in spades. Not sure how people are reading this as a scummy move.

I kinda like that Seph is trying to kickstart things. I think that's very positive for his alignment.

Posts like this are basically word vomit.

You have always been such a sweetheart, Darthe

[v] Seph [/v]

And hi Shad! I don´t think I have played with you before. I fear I will mix you and Seph in my head.

I don't like this vote.

Also not a fan of Shad's vote on Seph.

I'm not ready to go out and hard defend Seph, but I don't see anything scummy in what he's doing. He's poking and prodding and getting people to react to him. Actually Shad's vote on Seph is probably one of the more emotionally involved votes I've seen Shad make.

Well, I like cats and Norwegians. :D

I like cats and Swedes

but I will always and forever make fun of Sweden and Swedes whenever given the opportunity. It's a promise.

OK, so I'm stuck on my cellphone all day and it's kind of a PIA to ISO or look at posts side by side. Depending on who's watching the baby tonight I might have time for a more thorough go then. Here are some general thoughts:

Sooh - I've seen her as scum twice now. Her mafia game was consistent and carried a completely different tone than I'm seeing here. Feeling pretty positive about this slot D1.

Leelou - As scum she gave almost no explanation for her reads, acted pretty snippy towards people, and was pretty obvious about trying to set up a mislynch. In this game her reads come with explanations which feel honest to me and she's not tunnelling in on an easy target. I like what I'm seeing so far.

Darthe - Hasn't been terribly involved and I want to believe that scum Darthe leaps at the opportunity to power his way through a scum game, job or no. His observation about me was accurate and that tells me he's paying attention. I will never trust Darthe, but I don't have any cause to suss him so far.

BFG - Tone and queationing is identical to our last game, but her reads haven't been as in depth. I think town BFG should be able to thoroughly establish herself as more content becomes available.

Talya - She totally stumped me last game. If there's anything I take away from that one, it's that scum Talya is more cautious about going against the town consensus. If she's scum I don't think she's someone I'll catch early.

Kivum - I've been likening his game to Darthe's in mind, and that means he's dangerous. I find myself excusing a lot of things I disagree with as hunting and testing people. Hopefully that is the case. I want to see how he handles things as we approach EoD.

Dice, Seph, and Hallia have apparently all been scum lately. ISOing those games when I get home might reveal a lot. Hallia town told like crazy in Belichick and she seems more withdrawn here, like she was in Alien. (She was town in both but Belichick was more recent.)

Thane - He hasn't done much yet. I've read him easily as scum before but had trouble figuring him out as town. I want to think if I'm indecisive on him long enough that itself will be a town tell. But he said something very... interesting earlier and I want to see what comes of it before I make it a talking point. I'll say for now that he's earned a D1 pass from me.

Laine - Please be town Laine. <_< Focusing on activity levels has steered me wrong as often as not, but scum Laine was our first lynch last game and she knows I know what to look for. I hope she comes out strong and silence isn't for self-preservation here.

Tina - I'm probably least comfortable with this slot right now. Town read on BFG and aside from that, not much that I remember. Where Sooh and Darthe had, I think, reasonable reactions to my Seph vote, hers doesn't make much sense to me considering she doesn't know me and she herself voted Seph. I'll read her reaction again and have some questions when I get home.

Typing on a cellphone is terrible.
