LOL just read the dead thread, I know my play has been pretty bad this game but I'm going to take not mislynching Thane as a personal victory :laugh: (even though it would have made no difference in the end :rolleyes:)

 

Also happy to disappoint Cory about town winning

 

 

 

I also also have a cast iron excuse for mislynching Rand, Verb and AJ

 

 

 

I'm not very good at this game, seriously guys

 

 

 

Also playing most of the game on my phone killed my ability to fact check easily, and I kind of rely on that :(

Haha, you all did just fine.  The Rand and Verbal mislynches were totally justified and AJ's was compensated by the fact that you all lynched Zander over Dice and Thane.  Basically if Laine had managed to get her shot off town still wins due to that.  I think if I'd been alive we'd have been in the same boat, just with Talya instead of Zander hanging around.  I'm pretty impressed by that lynch: DT was unspoiled for a while and I wasn't on to her at all.

Haha, the mafia pairing in this game did kind of trip me out.  Based on my previous games here I was in the habit of trusting the three of you more than probably any other players in this game, to the point where I basically cleared all of you right out the gate and didn't even humor the possibility until shortly before I got night killed.

Nah, to be mafia read by so many people despite being this active I was doing something wrong /shrug

 

@Shad - claiming when I did was the right move 9 times in 10 (I think).

 

Extremely unlikely that mafia had more than 1 shot, since Pral/Yates/your death made NO sense from a town POV and I couldn't be killed by a single shot.

 

I wasn't being town read enough to be able to feel safe enough to avoid vig shots (seriously I get vigged a lot when town :sad:) so couldn't protect anyone else anyway, claiming didn't change that

 

At the time town 'likely' had 3 mislynch/vig shots left. This basically meant that mafia couldn't counter claim. If I'd left it till mylo to avoid being lynched and someone counterclaimed then I'd probably be lynched over that other person, as too many people were doubting me (not unjustly on their part).

 

 

 

ftr I think the only thing I'd have done differently if I wasn't about to become a named townie, was take part in the Laine debate earlier (and vote). As it was I wanted to see how the debate played out, since I didn't need to clear myself at that point (and then took 4 Days to actually use the info :rolleyes:)

 

 

Yeah, I'm not even sure why I called it "bold" in retrospect.  Probably just because it prevented you from protecting AJ or Dice and if scum had a shot left it was definitely going at one of them.  But I didn't really factor in the real possibility of town vigging you.  You needed to self-protect anyway so yeah, claiming when you did prevented Zander or Talya from effectively counterclaiming.

I expected Zander and me to have more difficulty being mafia together, but we can never town read each other like that as scum mates again probably.

 

Talya!! I enjoyed being mafia with you as well! Better than not knowing your alignment. Haha and I think I can read you better now too. :biggrin: well, I hope so...

 

I don't know, but it was a pretty smart move in this game.  I never even humored the possibility that either of you were scum until Rand showed up.  The fact that you were both clearing each other made me feel more comfortable clearing both of you as well.

Ironically, your failure to press an easy mislynch day 1 may have been your undoing.  Rand felt so scummy that I didn't trust anyone not voting him.  :tongue:

I'd bet 2 wolves in the oranges based on wagonomics.  Wolves tend to bury votes on each other D1, or at least bury their vote on a meaningless or impossible lynch.  If I had to choose who to lynch D2 based ONLY on this quote, I'd lynch Rand.  He had a meaningless vote on D1, and in what I've read of him in my catchup, I see multiple FoSes and "intent to vote"-type posts, but I see his vote remained on me.....which was useless.  Add to that his lynch did not go through.  Wolves tend to easily nudge D1 mislynches through, but to have this stall (I don't know yet if there were other reasons for this, btw) makes me think the village might have had a wolf in their sights.

 

More to come on this theory.

i'm pretty much certain that Hallia was not a wolf kill.....Rand, you need to step up your game, i'm getting inclined to put a vote on you.

 

i can understaand the people having some doubts about Laine. I've stated in a previous post that she is lacking the town leader spirit this game... that's how i feel about her at least. 

 

Dice never reacted on where i put him on my list. I think he would have if he'd be town.

Haha, well Yates' death threw that whole thing off.  If Yates had survived the night, Thane could have claimed the Hallia shot and been impressively clear for it in the absence of a counterclaim, because scum rarely burns an x-shot night kill on Hallia in that situation.  With Yates dead, the claim would have just looked like Thane was trying to steal credit to false clear himself.  He could have gotten lynched for it and was wise to keep quiet imo.

Yeah but my WIM was gone by the time I was getting mislynched, and I didn't have the time/inclination to go back and dig up the reasons and properly case.  So I accept that mislynch as necessary to dig deeper into the POE - kinda why AJ self-hammered as well.

 

All good, it worked out in the end.

Thoughts on setup?  I think the mafia would have been much better served backloading their NK's at least somewhat but they prob also need 1 more kill, maybe a single team kill that isn't tied to a player.  Town I like as is.

Keep in mind that town only ever got 1 vig off and our first lynch was armed scum though.  If scum survives the first lynch intact and another hero shot gets through, you're looking at a really short game if you give them 5.  Not that that would be a bad thing, mind you.  This is a pretty variable set-up that could just as easily create 2 day games as it did an 8 day game.

 

I would maybe have a fifth shot that doesn't unlock until N6 or something.  That way you don't get in a situation like we had here where town get a billion mislynches but town can't be totally slaughtered out the gate either.

We're just gonna auto clear each other in every game and hope it works out for the best. We're more likely to both roll town than for one of us to be mafia, right? Especially if I keep bribing the mods.

 

Fwiw, I would never use AtE like that on Zander in that situation if he was town and I was mafia trying to manipulate his vote. I think it did what I intended though.

@Laine:  thanks for not killing me before I even got to check in and play!  I saw that on the scumchat and appreciate it.  I'm currently pretty annoyed at JN for doing that exact same thing when I was the town masonizer, so I'm glad it didn't happen here as well.

It was worse on JN - they actually blind lynched me.  Yours would have been a scum NK, which I wouldn't have been upset over.  I did post that I'd flip tables if I caught up to only be dead, hehe, but I was just posturing there.

I'm just starting to read this QT and the brilliance of it immediately strikes me.

 

Talya was trying to play a little scummy so you two could bus her.

 

That's why I was totally convinced she was town.
