Favorite Book in the Wheel of Time series

Recommended Posts

Hello! I know that this question has probably been asked a thousand times on the forums, but i would like everybody's opinion. My personal favorite (if i had to choose), would be the Great Hunt. This reads like a classic adventure story, and i love it. I really enjoyed how Robert Jordan accurately chronicled Padan Fain's descent into something like a pet with two masters, Shai'tan (oops) and Mordeth. I also really liked how Mat sounded the Horn of Valere, and not Rand. It was a very surprising plot twist.

Again, please comment and let me know which Wheel of Time book was your favorite!!

Personally I'd go with Lord of Chaos. Demandred is my second favourite Forsaken, so I enjoy his two PoVs. Dumais Wells is a great scene, and the Asha'man show how awesome they can be. Rands character progresses well too, he comes across as arrogant but I think that's to hide his insecurities and impatience at others

moved to the appropriate board.

My favourite is FoH. Moiraine, Rhavin, Asmodean, Mat and of course, Rand they are all excellent and the ending is one of the best in the series.

Closely behind is LoC, for similar reasons as my minion Manel Rochaid () as you might gather, I too like Demandred. The Black Tower being set up, Rand's kidnapping. Egwene becoming Amyrlin and a whole heap of awesome story.

Third goes to KoD. The last of RJ's books will always hold a special place for me, and after the somewhat sedate pace of the previous book, it really gets the sense of the Last Battle is coming. Rand crazy with Lews Therin and the attack on the Manor, Nynaeve's awesomeness with Lan "The Golden Crane Rides for Tarmon'Gaidon who shall ride with it?" Logain with the Sea Folk, the end of Elayne's Caemlyn storyline. Mat and Tuon - who are always fun - and Perrin finally! done with the Shaido. Good stuff.

1.lord of chaos, for dumai's wells-the most powerful scene in the entire wheel of time.

2.the fires of heaven, for the complete absence of the dreadful "dynamic duo".

3.the shadow rising, for this:"the time for games and subterfuge is past lews therin.

long past." my name is lanfear.

4.the great hunt, for the battle of falme(i laughed my head off when birgitte told rand

that he always choose women who cause him trouble).

My favorite were the original trilogy.

Essentially, for me, the first ten books they go in linear order from best in the series to the worst in the series with the exception that Winter's Heart ending (book 9) makes it marginally better then book 8.

The Next 4 plus the prequel New Spring are roughly in the middle of the series, with Brandon doing an excellent job given the situation.

Note:  I suspect my views are a minority view as I like plot centric or world building novels.  I think the best relationtionship heavy lifting is done in the early mid novels which I suspect are the boards favorites.

I don't know why the search function gives threads like that to me, when I was searching totally different things...

Anyway, I'd like to point out that TSR (which was the first slow book, if anyone remembers that 'fact') lost its crown 5-6 years ago. After being a clear winner for a very long time, nowadays FOH-LOC-TGH-TEOTW are more popular.
