No use talking about who we think is "strong" or "weak". All it will do is get people defensive for being picked as strong, or defensive for NOT being picked as strong.

Reading the first few pages, it is not easy to get initial reads. Based on Sili's opening posts, the responses by people like Nyn, AJ, and Nolder are very easily made by town or scum - therefore, I'm marking that entire discussion as null.

Pretty much, yeah.

Dice got defensive over the wrong thing. Thane was normal. I dont think protecting feelings actually benefits us.

There are some merits to the conversation but ill go into it later.

Dice got defensive over something you should have expected him to.  I haven't decided whether you did in on purpose to allow the conversation to drift towards that "FoS", or not.

After last game I won´t say "I won´t vote Sili ever" again (even though he had not been recruited when I said that), but I think this is town Sili. The comments about who would be picked as mafia didn´t really tell me anything but Sili is trying to start the game and is ready to hunt, which I think is typical town Sili.

what do you mean by cagey?

On thane, it makes sense he wouldn't have much to say, but his first post was very sure-footed and I can't say I like that. At this point I'm just trying to see the town in him.

Guarded. Your responses to me sound clipped since getting push back from players on your theory.

Just thinking

just responding to pressure where appropriate.

This is kind of where I'm at concerning Sili. I haven't decided whether I think his angle was sinister or not in nature.

Another thing that bothered me was the ease which Kaylee was willing to roll with the idea.

I addressed this already this morning but I'll pull the quote for you. I just didn't put my full thoughts on the matter down last night.

Hello

Feels good to be back in a Mafia game, I can feel the juices flowing already.

I'm with Nyn on this subject. Highly circumstantial and would vary person to person depending on how the randomization went. The part I don't like most specifically is suggesting the focus be on a certain group of players who are considered better than others while the remaining are theoretically given a pass.

I'm not caught up yet since I went to bed early but wanted to comment on this.

I personally have no plans to give anyone a pass. Sili's idea made sense to me in the fact that I always pay more attention to stronger players. As I said before they have the best chance at fooling me.

Secondly it made sense as it's something I'd do as a weaker player.

That said I basically don't trust anyone until I read them as town.

Here it is AJ

Don't you think he could have posted this as any alignment?  Especially early in the game, it is very easy to post "townie posts" when scum.  It gets harder to do as the game evolves, but it is never easier than it is when people haven't even checked in yet.

Your post here basically functions as a CYA for you to be wrong on Sili, while buddying him at the same time.  No bueno.

Kind of expected though, right?  Anybody labeled as "strong" is going to dislike the notion, and say so.  Anybody labeled otherwise will probably like the idea regardless of their alignment:

1.  if they are town, then they might see wisdom in clearing the "strong" players first, or people who easily fool them

2.  if they are scum, then they like not being the center of attention early on and being able to blend in better with easy posts to make regardless of alignment

Basically, I don't like how Sili has spoon-fed easy posts for people to make regardless of alignment - it makes the first few pages of this game a complete crapshoot (with a few exceptions).

Who is Boo Boo?

Greatest scum huunter ever.

I could make the argument you have more than 1 misspelling in that sentence, heh.

I got fooled last game since he got recruited but I feel that I know Sili by now. I have played with him as mafia, and caught him as mafia, and he is not acting this way when mafia. As you noticed last game - he became more quiet once he got recruited. I noticed it then but never thought it would be a recruit game so I chose to neglect it.

What did you mean with the bolded? I'm sort of unsure as to what you're referring to.

The fact I know you are talking about the "uu" and the extra "s" is pretty damn fuinny.  LOL

Not a bad post all together.

What were the few exceptions you saw?

I admit there's some validity to your statement about either alignment being okay with the idea if they were characterized as "weaker" that I hadn't considered. My thought on it more aligned with the idea that if Sili were just presenting a bad idea that scum could ride the momentum to pull down strong townies early on.

Mob mentality/witch hunt kinda thing.

I meant I'd recruit strong players. Those that I think could help me fool others. (Verb, Nyn, Red, Leelou and probably Crusher).

Gotcha. That's what I thought you might be saying but I wanted to clarify.

That is null for this game.  If he is scum, he never had to "be a townie" because he never was - he was chosen before we began.  Last game he had to try not to change his posting style, and I'd argue you're using hindsight knowing he was recruited last game to say he was acting differently.

I'd further argue that Sili's opening in this game is extremely easy to make as either alignment, just as I've already said many of the responses are easy to make as either alignment.  I stand by my initial impression of your post.

(CYA stands for Cover Your @$$)

I agree with you on this.

As for exceptions, I'd say the top 2 are XXX and Tina's opening posts.  She's riding the fence on Sili (IMO), and that would not have been possible without his entrance like it was.

I'm saving XXX because it hasn't happened yet and I'm not going to 'lead the horse to water', so to speak.  :-)
