If I'm putting Standard into the sticky, then I want 2 things:

1.  somebody do a write-up for it - just 1 or 2 sentences

2.  I'm going to change the # of games to 2 overall, regardless of what type they are.

If everybody is ok with #2, and somebody gives me #1, I'll make the edits.

How is

"A Standard game will contain mostly standard mafia roles. The focus of the game will still be the traditional Mafia format of Basic games, but moderators may throw in a few twists to make the game more interesting."

Looks good to me.  I'll edit the sticky.

But before I do, what do people think about removing the "Mod Council" and just letting people run their games......but if they are wildly imbalanced and suck as a result, the consequence is that I won't put them back on the queue for Advanced - they'd have to commit to running a Basic/Standard game instead.

Thoughts?  Keep the council?  Screw it?

I don't know to be honest. Whenever I run a game I ALWAYS run it through one experienced mod at least. Most of the times it was two. The question is if people are self aware enough to do that on their own accord.

It does seem unnecessary for players who have run multiple games to continue submitting to a council, but traditions are traditions.

To be perfectly honest I would prefer players new to modding to have their games checked in general, but I'd just have a "check with an experienced player/moderator" type policy than a council.

Down with big brother?

IDK, my opinions probably aren't great, but take them as you will

Hence the need for some kind of policy, I guess.

I would always be happy to look over anyone's set-up in the future if they were inclined, and probably better someone like me than someone who players here frequently and would have to abstain because they know the set-up.

I would imagine most games (advanced) are NOT running through any of the people listed, so it might make sense for me to dissolve a process that isn't being followed anyway.....

Verbal you could always go the other way and become a full-fledged tyrant, start dropping banhammers here and there

Probably wouldn't be fun but would be really exciting from a drama standpoint

No, your opinions are good.  My only concern is that "check with an experienced player/moderator" could end up being somebody like Darthe.  We all know what would happen as a result, heh.

Firing shots at Darthe aside, that is the only piece that concerns me, but I guess it isn't any worse than it is now.....

Or keep approved people to check, but add a few more names so there are more options.

For new mods, not experienced ones.

So the queues would be basic/standard and advanced?

No, there would be 1 queue, and mods could run whatever they want - no more than 2 games running at any given time.  They would just label their game appropriately, and if the balance sucked big time, I might not let them mod Advanced anymore......

Heh, I thought about that, but then what happens next time you and I butt heads in mafia?  ;-)

I kid, I kid.

OR DO I?

All that really matters is that we remain a community and we all continue to fire shots at Darthe

I'm putting that in the sticky.

What happens in Mafia games stays in Mafia games

I vote the Leelou Proposition of 2015 that the Modding Council is expanded by the powers that be to encompass whatever community modding are vets willing to double check games, and that it's a process that players who are experienced game moderators (have run 2-3 games on-site) do not need to go through in order to have their game run

That sounds like a fair and just policy, l'chaim mazel tov
