Rand -

Been thinking about Rand's rage vote on me, apparently using a situation from another game as a reason.

At first, I chose not to respond to it and fight the urge to OMGUS vote.

Then, I ate an orange.  Tasted good, but then my hands were sticky.  And not stick in the fun way.

Washed my hands.  Dried them.   Thought about the good ole days.

But then that nagging suspicion crept back into my noggin.

Why would Rand need to go to such lengths to justify his vote in this game?  Sure, day 1 randomness is random but.....he placed his vote on a player he felt no one would question his motives on.  Why....that would require a preset guilty conscience BEFORE he posted.

So.....@Rand.  Why the need to OVER justify your reason for voting me?

For people who weren't in the game, its a slight pet peeve when people vote someone like that without explanation, I wasn't in the game so I hound them on it, and then I get called out for it.

Which game are you talking about?

In this case, I'm talking about games in general, basically making references to games which not all players were in, but not saying that its a reference.  But the game that I specifically made a reference to was Hoof's game.

Then I really have no idea what you're trying to say.

Basically I don't like it when people vote someone because of a past game and don't say it was supposed to be because of a past game.  Because later I case them on it, and they said oh it was a reference stop being so serious, and then I get FoSed because of that.  It happened to me, don't remember if it was here or in EpicMafia.

Why so anxious for a lynch, TG?

TG, you are rapidly switching between serious and goofy and I ding understand the transitions. What's up? You on crack?

Another game with 100 pages of D1 spam posts will be soul destroying for me, so I'd rather get this game kick started and at least push some gameplay.

Gonna start this all with a contradiction: I agree - but I still think your eagerness is pinging. Doesn't really make sense, but eh, thats what I feel.

I'm gonna sit in my corner and observe.

best tr is actually Mynd right now, so [unvote]

Without fail, EVERY time someone has made a point out of "sitting back watching" D1 they've flipped scum.

I like Clov already.

Me too.

Beside that I don't see alot to comment on. Not a big fan of Drunk coming off with a random list, including himself in the top three and then going all "I don't need your pity" when given a free pass D1.

Don't like how Csarmi/BFG dropped off the radar either, after I mentioned them overplaying it. Where'y'at?

Top 3 for town: Tommy, Mynd, Clov

Top 3 for scum: Drunk, BFCsarmi, Rand

Well at least I can begin the exception to the rule.  A vote on someone because of one scummy post is a scummy vote, especially when you specifically said earlier that you've barely played with me and need to get to know my playstyle, is a scummy vote.  Largest scum read is now Vos.

So your largest scum read is the person that is voting for you? How enlightening.

I try so very hard.

Pfft, that's just an OMGUSFOS and your argument is a kinder-garden-argument. "Everyone who says someone is stupid is stupid".

And the fact that I don't know your meta has nothing to do with it, it wasn't a meta vote.

@Vos - our activity will be very erratic.

I'll be able to play mostly from phone (because of my health condition) and BFG has a very unreliable schedule these weeks (which is why she only wanted to play as a Hydra). You'll see us appearing and disappearing a lot.

Lol that wasn't at all the argument that you said it was.

I said that voting someone based off one singular scummy post (unless its a slip of course) is trying to draw reads out of way too little info.

And it was a vote based off of the types of posts mafia make.  If I, as town, make posts that seem like mafia (important: there is a difference between posts that seem like mafia and posts made to advance the goal of mafia), then that is part of my meta that you don't know already.

Well, yeah, sure... but come on here. You said something I read as überscummy. Trying to half-vague meta-defend yourself with "Well, but you don't know if I say superscummy things as town!" just won't float.

Secondly, you are flailing hard at a single vote at page 12. Makes me feel real good about where I placed my vote.

I believe the bolded is (essentially) trying to draw a distinction between "being scummy" and actually being scum.  You're absolutely right that there is a difference.  I don't see how that distinction is relevant to his vote though.  It's almost like you're conceding that the post he voted you for WAS a mafia-ish post but you're upset that he's voting you for it.  If he's town, isn't that EXACTLY what he ought to be doing at this point?

I'm also not sure how it relates to your meta.  If you're acting like mafia, you're acting like mafia.

But that wasn't my only point.  My main point which no one seems to be responding to here is that you voted me based off one post.  The things I've said after that are not related to your vote in the first place.  The fact that you voted me based off one post that you thought was scummy but was obviously meant to be a joke is in itself scummy.

And was my reaction to one vote large? Yes, but thats because I'm not only defending myself, but I'm also fosing Vos at the same time.  Thats why it looks bigger than it actually is.

FOSes or putting someone on a scum list are characteristic of a scummy post.  But posting that you're going to sit in a corner with a gif shouldn't warrant a vote.  Thats the difference between mafia-like posts, which can vary on perspective, and posts that are intended to change game flow.

And what you just said is directly related to meta.  There are some playstyles that some people find scummy when they play with them.  I for example found Mynd's beat the grass technique scummy the first time I played him.  To me, it was him, acting like mafia.  But that's just how he played.  That has so much to do with meta.

For as long as I've played on DM I've never heard this so called rule.

I've seen it mentioned multiple times as an unwritten type of thing.  I'm sure somebody else can attest.

Gonna start this all with a contradiction: I agree - but I still think your eagerness is pinging. Doesn't really make sense, but eh, thats what I feel.

Vos is #LOCKTOWN.  I'm pushing it because I know I'm town and I don't trust anyone else to push it.  They might have an agenda.  Any decent townie should be suspicious of another player getting out in front while at the same time understanding the want to push scumhunting.

Well at least I can begin the exception to the rule.  A vote on someone because of one scummy post is a scummy vote, especially when you specifically said earlier that you've barely played with me and need to get to know my playstyle, is a scummy vote.  Largest scum read is now Vos.

Rand, what would your reaction have been if Vos found you to be incredibly scummy but didn't vote you?  I find your defense to be a narrative in which Vos can't win nomatter what he does.

But that wasn't my only point.  My main point which no one seems to be responding to here is that you voted me based off one post.  The things I've said after that are not related to your vote in the first place.  The fact that you voted me based off one post that you thought was scummy but was obviously meant to be a joke is in itself scummy.

I disagree completely on what you refer to as a "scummy post."  And the argument you are applying about yourself applies to Vos also.  Maybe it is Vos' playstyle to always vote "popcorn" posts nomatter what.  Either way, like I said above, it reads as narrative.

Top 3 town that doesn't include yourself?

What would have been said had I NOT included myself??

Bring it gurly boyz.

I'm smelling so much mangina I need a plugin...

Can you elaborate on your reads?  I don't see how you reached a townie conclusion on either of them, and I'm not feeling great about you lumping yourself in...

Only one I know of for sure is myself.

The rest ..............I'm still charting.

But that's precisely what I mean - if you find a certain playing/posting style scummy, the town thing to do is push attention in that direction.  Therefore, you SHOULD be voting and pushing the people playing to that style. In this case, obviously Vos thinks people who make posts like yours are likely to be scum...regardless of how YOU play, I don't see why he wouldn't be inclined to push you at this stage.

I c wut u did thar.

Pfft, that's just an OMGUSFOS and your argument is a kinder-garden-argument. "Everyone who says someone is stupid is stupid".

And the fact that I don't know your meta has nothing to do with it, it wasn't a meta vote.

Top 3 town that doesn't include yourself?

What would have been said had I NOT included myself??

"Hey look, this guy doesn't need to specifically state he's town to convince us"?

You make a lot of good points, Clov!

Nothing would have been said.  Notice nobody else who has given "top 3" reads has included themselves.

Noted.

How many have given a top three read??

Drunk is confusing as hell. I feel like he is, objectively, the wolfiest player in the thread so far. But when pushed, he refuses to change tact. My experience says that's more likely to come from a villager or someone with a social disorder, but having never played with him before, I'm left guessing.

Drunk, what is it you think you're providing to the thread right now? You're fronting this air of mystery, but instead of coming off as if you're secretly making good points and keeping them to yourself (Clov: think Walt), you just sound like you have no ideas and no concept of what to say.

For someone who has played mafia before and should know that the means to town's ends is transparency and curiosity, your brand of obfuscation is scummy.
