So, my to-do-list when I get back is to ISO Hallia, Verb and Lazy, try to make sense of Dice and have a good long listen to my gut about AJ. AJ has been playing a really good game, which makes him town in my book, but he has also janked my tail enough as mafia to make me suspicious of him by default.

I'm really struggling to read Lazy too. I appretiate the jokes, but seems very selective where he puts his attention.

 

Also want to hear more from Verb. Not a big fan of Verb in the background here. 

 

Speaking of, just had a look at the post-count. Cory has 100 posts more than number two, which is Nyn. I'm struggling to catch up here! 

 

Going into the long weekend, there could be no doubt that I was never in the background on anything.  I find that more often than not it is scum making the little remarks about me being away for a weekend.  To get me over a weekend is a huge deal - I'm very rarely online.  I'll try and poke in for a few posts here and there to stay afloat, but you can almost never expect serious time spent on mafia over the weekend.

 

So again, this is something (the background peanut gallery-type comments like this) I associate with scum a lot.  FYI.

I've reread everything.  I'm struggling with the Cory/Des interaction.  My D1 went with Des-town and Cory-maybe town until late day, when I thought both were town.  Now I'm worried that the entire argument and subsequent emo was a ruse.  Cory keeps labeling himself a "near-consensus villager" when he was anything but.  Several people FOSed him, or even cased him a bit.  Des was on him, I was on him, Clov was on him.  Considering that was 3 of the more active D1 players, you can't label him as "near-consensus" anything.

 

I'm not saying this makes him scum.  Since the emo, his posts have been really good and I've been thinking they were very pro-town.  But I can't shake the early discussion he and I had, and then the pressure from both Des and Clov........Clov never really relented, and is now dead.  Des has relented, and is now saying it was all a ploy to not have him get NKed.

 

Meh.  I ducked out once the emo got a little silly, and didn't read a damn thing over the weekend.  So I'm definitely not "in the flow of the game" like I was earlier on D1, so take whatever I'm saying with a bucket of salt.

2. The idea I would fake a blow-up as a ruse is laughable. Clov's argument was he remembered a handful of games where I was scum and volatile. I can get volatile in either role, for sure... But ask anyone who has played more than one or two games with me what tends to happen when I get mad at someone - my towncred drains quickly. One of the major reasons why a popular scum tactic with people who know me is to piss me off, as I will throw away my clout and become demotivated. How do you think faking a blow up would SERVE my purpose as Mafia?

1.  The blow up with Des was reasonably early in the day, so I think we're getting lost in the details perhaps.  I'll move on from that - don't care.

 

2.  Not laughable.  Think of the bolded, and then reread the few sentences before.  You've answered the question yourself.  You outline a scum tactic, and then position it as something that shows you're town......and you wonder how that would serve your purpose if you're actually scum?  Was that a serious question?

 

3.  You really don't like it when people don't automatically believe you, eh?  You trust that Des was doing all that he did to gauge reactions from others and protect you from NK.....do you think that was a valid excuse?  He certainly didn't seem like he was applying the light pressure indicative of somebody trying to keep a low boil going to help you avoid NK - he was at times full bore on you.  That's a pretty fine line to walk.

 

 

Let me be clear - I like fake-arguments.  I've seen it done well as a mafia tactic, and I've employed it myself.  But arguments =/= emo.  Emo is the 'take my ball and go home' kinda thing you started to pull before cooling off and coming back more collected.

 

It is entirely possible that I was annoyed with your little fit to the point where I'm unable to be reasonable in viewing your play in this game.  I can say for a fact that it sucked the life out of the game going into the weekend, and was a major reason I avoided the thread and didn't even check in to read up and make a quick post or two.  If that is the case, and enough other players think I'm way off base on this, I'll leave it alone and not mention it again.

Re-reading on Hallia now. Buddying up to Nyn and Cory. Votes Lazy while saying that she doesn't really remember anything from him. Claims VT out of the blue? Slightly pushes for a vig shot on Clov for voting her instead of securing the lynch....

 

And... everything already covered. Doesn't look too good. I know Hallia often coast through on meta, but this isn't just inactivity, it's wolf.

Thane. Fair enough not posting earlier due to work. I have the samr issues. However tell me straight up. In a hypothetical situation, if you were sk and was being lynched. Would you claim sk or town vig? I think all of us here would go town vig.

 

On to aj. About hallia. Dunno. Im getting null from her and i dont know you all very well. Would be interesting to see the flip and outcomes tomorrow.

 

And could someone start a separate thread for all the acronyms beng used. I dislike having to ask or look stupid for not knowing.

Verb: this is not the first time I've been told I ruined a game for someone, so if that is what is happened I'm sorry you feel that way. But gauging people emotionally is a big part of my game, even if requires me going a little nutso at someone I know well enough to understand that way. Mafia is an intense game and my roots are IRL games - this is pretty low intensity for me.

 

The idea that I would FAKE an outburst as a scum tactic is what is laughable. Clov argued he remembered me getting angry as scum before - not "fake angry". If you want to argue I was angry at Des for not townreading me as Mafia and I got volatile for "getting caught" I wouldn't call you laughable. But let's be clear: my "tantrum" did little but draw heaps of negative attention to me. That is not a "ploy" that makes sense, and it will be a narrative I will continue to battle all game.

 

But I'm fine with looking bad if it helps me figure out what I need. That is the dance of CorryCurn.

 

And if you think I got mad... Wait until you see Des after the Spurs get mauled in the finals.

Take a look at page 84. Csarmi posts a list of possible roles in this game (not all gonna be there but if its in the game its from that list right). 2 hours after this Thane "claims" his Vig Town killer role from that list. Could be he is legit. Could be he isnt. I am surprised noone else thought of this though. I mean hey there are multiple possibilities around. Doesnt matter about Counter Claim or whatever. I dont doubt he has a NK. What I doubt is him being Proven town. I mean seriously that list contains 3 possible killers. Vig town, Serial Killer (3rd Party) and Jack of all trades which offers a few different possible powers (this also doesnt specify town but is likely to be). So just think about it. Actually think about it dont skim and go, meh lazy is not being very lazy. He is offering something up. He must be dodgy cause there are no jokes. Lets kill him.

Vig is only temporarily a safe claim for a SK. JOAT, on balance is unlikely because people will get suspicious if there's only 1 kill from now on.

ISO on Verb done. Still not feeling too great about him either. Comes into the game cranky (claims its carryover from another game), focuses alot on Cory, then gets cranky again from the Des/Cory-fight (a cranky within a cranky - I'm afraid if I comment on this I'll end up in limbo). Soft-fos'es/nudges me for pointing out weekend inactivity. Nothing too tangible yet, but somewhere to keep our eyes.
