Wombat in general:  Wombat is a player who likes to tactically poke and prod rather than put immense pressure on a subject.  He tends to prefer a "water under the door" strategy rather than acting as a battering ram.  However this is nearly the only long term consistent part of his meta.  He is intelligent and driven as either alignment.  He knows his meta extremely well and will change it after a few games to either test out some new idea or because he simply isn't satisfied enough with his own play.  If I had to pick a top five on DM he would undoubtedly be included.  As mafia I would expect him to be over-focused and un-intrusive.  Essentially Matt Damon in Oceans 11, funny but doesn't make you laugh etc.  Here is A GOOD POST OF HIM TALKING ABOUT HIS OWN META.

 

Wombat in this game:  He starts by voting lenlo to protect me.  Good way to grab early suspicion universally which means he intended to do so.  He then states he believes Deslamigheddon 2014 was genuine but he has conflict with Mish's response to it (as did I) but he gets no sus for it.  Two days later Wombat has an opportunity to catch up (he had been gone) and starts a multiquote.  His first quote is him ragging on Des who has been attacking me.  The rest of his MQ is either innocuous or responses to people responding to Des.  Unflattering responses to be exact.  Next MQ seems very lackadaisical.  I like some of what he said, I don't like some of it, basically the whole thing is just ...

 

 

... anyways I think it has a lot of definitive and unpopular opinions in it which will be very valuable late game and so are bad mojo for mafia to post.  Essentially I get at this point that Womby has taken a controversial stance to get things flowing and that he wants to throw all over the field.  It looks town to me even if I don't happen to like all of it.  But part of me will always suspect Womby because he has been on my side a bit too much to this point.  It is the same issue I have with Tom.  Is that my paranoia or do we three generally view things in similar ways?  The sarcasm is a plus in any case.  

 

A good example of not agreeing with Womby but still finding his post pretty town (or at least hard to do as mafia) is THIS ONE where he simply stated a set of reads.  However he chose the most controversial player in the game at the time, a pretty popularly considered townie by the two biggest town voices, someone who has been solid but reserved and someone who is scummy but isn't getting lynched today at all.  None of these are good for a scum agenda in any way.  

 

Wombat looks really good to me at the moment.  This stuff was all from ten or more pages ago.  We have gotten far enough in the game that early statements can come back and bite someone or at least become relevant again.  I can't get a much better read on Wombat until we get some flips.

I actually agree with this, this is a really bad p0ast from Dap. But what I really don't like is this:

This looks like Dap is easing into linking Des and TG, which is really bad if he already knows TG is gonna flip scum.

The perspective is useful because I've never played with him before. 

My personal opinion of him thus far is he's had good tone and we've agreed on a few things but Des kind of hyped him up as the GOAT player ever before this game started so I was expecting more... oomph, I guess. But I'll try to judge him with what you said (water under the door) in mind. I was expecting the battering ram approach.

 

What did you wanna say about Lenlo? I don't know that guy either.

 

And I keep forgetting Dap is in this game and that he's been sketchy. He's the kind of guy that would be a perfect vig shot.

I've gone back and forth on Wombat a few times. I had him in my top 3 scum pile for about half a day (when he made those multiple catchup MQ posts and I replied to them with "Fluff... fluff... fluff..."; I think it's the same one you noted as bad) but he sounded more genuine to me today despite disagreeing with me on a lot of things. I think AJ is hard town; he thinks AJ is scum. I think Pral is hard scum; he thinks he's more null. I think Kaylee was being sketchy; he thinks she's town. He likes Peace; I'm less impressed with him after the Darthe -> TG votes now that I suspect you're both town. He's kinda like the anti-me in this round, somewhat like Des has been. Is it wolfy of someone to disagree with me? I used to think so, but since trying to get better at this game and realizing I'm often wrong, it's good to have strong counter-opinions, as long as I can follow the thought process behind them and the player isn't just doing some me-too gibberish to get on a wagon (like Pral). I guess he thinks I'm kinda scummy? And I think that of him sometimes, so whatever. But then he just agreed with two of my posts, so that kind of looks like he agrees with me and thinks favorably of me? He seems to enjoy dipping back and forth, like his heart is on his sleeve and every new post makes him feel good or bad about someone all over again. I'm curious to see where his vote lands. Do you like his actual stances ITT? I think you both have Lenlo as scum reads.

I would prefer to get your stances without the influence of Laya's views until we get a flip on him.  Otherwise there's nothing to come back on if he flips town.  I don't like Laya's stances btw and we do have Len as scum reads but mine is less that I am reading Len and more that my impression (memory based) of him right now is more negative than positive.

Okay, if I factor out what people think of each other for now, and try to focus on my interpretation of their level of interest in solving the game:

 

1. Peace - has seemed to be his aloof yet pointed self

2. Turin - absent, but I remember him being pointed when he was around

3. Mish - I earlier said she was playing a mediator role; also seems absent

4. Despo - Despondent but goes hard in the paint

5. Csarmi  Andrej - I think he's mindmelded with me too many times to be scum; also has good points to make

6. Amega - I really can't remember anything about this guy 

7. Hallia - I have a very difficult time reading her, always seems scummy to me

8. Darthe - I like our chat now but I thought you were trollish town anyway

9. Kaylee - I was skeptical of her effort level and after-the-fact participation

10. Wombat - I thought his start was fluffy but now he seems sharper

11. Dap - Rambling and incoherent 

12. BFG - Hasn't made much of an impact

13. TG - Went from scummiest player ITT to being much more vocal and aggressive

14. Pral - Some of the weakest arguments ITT

15. TommyRod - GOAT

16. Lenlo - I like that he's unapologetic about things he's said but I haven't paid a lot of attention to him

 

So if I put people in a ranked order of effort or thread "awareness" so to speak, it looks like:

So... it's a start, without depending on interactions.

I believe there is a second half to that bolded part that talks about something else other than your post deletion. I think it had something to do with my agreeing with someone elses opinion on how easily you changed your mind about Darthe even though nothing he has done warrants such a change? I think thats what it said? Im not sure as apparently its not actually there because you keep ignoring its existence when you say I only voted you for your post deletion which is, of course, not true.

 

I read that as something Tommy said about Darthe.  Not about the timing of me voting Darthe.

As for my joking, call it budding if you want but I just enjoy joking with people, whether I think they are scum or not. Its amusing to me and thats pretty much it. Rarely is there an ulterior motive there.

AJ's vote had the effect of removing momentum from TG and possibly adding it to Des.  All while he wasn't voting Des and seems to be town-reading him.  When votes and motives don't match up like that, I tend to think scum.

 

I can see how you'd think this. The problem I have with it is that you are assuming too much without solid evidence provided. Besides, if I was trying to add momentum to Des wouldn't I be better served voting him instead of starting a new wagon on Pral? It could be argued that I would've been able to find a suitable reason for joining his wagon.

 

Um yeah, I didn't clear Pralaya.  I said I didn't think he was scum.  That's very different.

The despo/csarmi thing looked like a great way to distract from scum hunting. Their little argument had a good chance of dominating day 1 talk. Falls right into the scum play book.

I think they are either both town, or one town and one mafia.

Two mafia doesn't make sense. Especially the way des reacted after Csarmi quit.

 

Going back to wombat for a second. Post 142 he comes in and goes for mish.

After Darthe has rescinded, mind you.

He even mentions that mish knows despos play well as a supporting argument, so linking them.

 

@peace. I see you say later that they could of been on different teams. I support that far more. I just don't see how they both could be mafia.

 

So mish appears and discusses wombats vote on her. Interestingly she ends that post I a toss up between Darthe and TG, but goes for TG. (Due to scum slip)
