i'm looking forward to doing all of BC and Wrath on my Horde alt. It'll be like the first time through on my Alliance main but better because i know where all the towns are and to watch out for felreavers. for my other alts though i'll be leveling them in the random dungeon finder till they hit 80. once they're 80 i'll just go around unlocking dungeons and then spamming the dungeon finder again.

So. Some thoughts from further down the road...

Made 85 in decent time and geared up enough to hit a heroic or two with some friends as a kitty. I've done...I think all but Lost City of the Tol'vir on normal, and all but that, Halls of Origination and I think Throne of the Tides on heroic. Also tanked my first heroic last night.

Kitty is still frustratingly positional. When you get a chance to camp on someone's hind quarters and load up the bleeds and KEEP THEM ON, you do good damage. Otherwise (which is most of the time), my damage kinda stinks relative to the others I run with.

The fights are, for the most part, interesting and varied. A lot of new boss mechanics, very little stand there and murder. I like that as a player, just frustrated with how it affects my damage output. Some of the fights I think are a bit too dependent on CC ability. The Magmadar lookalike in BRC comes to mind in that respect - without at least two full cc controls I'm not sure how you do that fight on heroic. Trash dps on the tank is wild. I watched my health bar (which is around 125k as a newly geared heroic tank) zoom up and down in heart-stopping fashion. I've learned how to hold group aggro again but I can't recover nearly as well from a dpser pulling a group as I could in Wrath. A mage I was with last night yanked early aggro on one of the storm dragon mobs in Vortex and promptly got eaten - "You hit it before I could melee it" is what I told her. Threat on the whole is ok, but I need a bit longer to solidify stuff now, and dps who don't focus really make my life hell.

Archaeology turns up some nifty stuff but it's all kinds of time consuming. I think I'm around 270 now. I picked up the fossilized hatchling in the grind up that far. That's a baby raptor pet that is skeletal.

Herbalism is at 540 (tauren racial bonus). Alchemy is around 516, so almost there on that. Cooking and first aid are maxed now, fishing at 460 or so, solely due to fishing dailies. Alchemy has been bothersome due to the amount of herbs needed for the flasks now.

Dinged 81 on my holydin. Soloing with the shockadin build is not too bad, nowhere near as painful as holy leveling was in Wrath. Done only basic stuff on my warlock and haven't touched my ally druid or my mage yet.

I have gotten my Arch up to 250ish as well and got the raptor companion... whoopie doo. I am hoping as you level it further more rares pop up or this will get boring fast.

I have my mining up to max and my JC up to 521. JC is hard to level past like 515 as you only have on recipe that gets you xp and it has a timer on how often you can use it. I also thought it interesting that the highest jewels are Bind on pick up which makes me glad I got the intellect one only.

I have about 5-6 pieces of heroric gear now and finally got my mana unbuffed over 80K. I still do not feel prepared to heal a heroric. Shooting for 90K before I attempt that. I think I have run all herorics but only have gotten through a few completely.. I think 4. Deadmines isn't so bad until you get to the final bosses. Grim is a bit tough. Really the herorics are getting much easier especially if you have an ok healer and a good tank.

Next week my LK group is making another run at him. I am hoping since we all know the mechanics and hopefully have better dps we can make quick work of him.

Getting the epics in Archaeology is extremely hard. I lucked out on my priest and pulled the recipe for Vial of the Sands fairly early, netting me the first on my server (Shattered Halls) to have it. Sold three for about a 40k profit each before the next guy finally got the recipe and tanked the market. Now I'm farming up herbs and making Darkmoon cards for the fair. It's all about them benjamin's n' such.

I created a new character on another server. "Aygros? Or Arygos, or something like that"

Anyways, its still a druid, I've gotten it up to 32.

My main, on Alleria, is 78... Planning to transfer that when I win the lottery.

My new-druid though, Is inscription/herb instead of skinning/leather like my lvl 78 tauren druid.

I've already sold a 50g glyph...

Can't tell me thats not worth the money, my god, that shits cheap to make. :P

Holy shit. I don't even have 1 damn 85 yet. I dinged 84 the other day, and am almost 1/2 way to 85. Ugh...vacation without internet sucked.

In other news, like Emp said, we hopefully kill Arthas this week. Finally.

I've got one 85, an 82 and I think an 81. Newborn is seriously cutting into playtime. Oh well. Said 85 is nearly raid ready as a dps. Not so much as a tank.

Got my first normal run at BRC last night. Having learned BRC on heroic level made me think the normal version was a piece of cake. Heroic was painful.

still have my 78 haning alone on Alleria. My newbie druid-worgen though is up to 43. (would been 50 by now but was to busy on an anime binge last night)

So only 35 more levels till that ones to 78! Then the fun starts happening!

It turns out for some reason that we could not enter ICC last night. Whenever someone would enter it would go to the loading screen and never load... then kick us out of the screen in a few minutes. Odd. So our group headed over to Naxx and downed the last two bosses. The last boss actually wiped us a few times due to icing party members. Otherwise it was pretty easy. We will try downing the LK next week.

Yeah, I was pretty pissed about the loading screen glitch. I was looking forward to putting Arthas down and moving on. Doh.

I did run my first Cata 5-man last night - normal mode Stonecore. People still seem to forget they should see what other classes have for new spells and not just their own. I was trying to tell people that I can now bind elementals (most of this damn expansion, lol) for 50 seconds, and it took 2 wipes for them to listen.....and it was a guild run!

Oh well, we got a good cc rhythm down and the rest was pretty easy. There were a few 'oh shit' moments where everybody was at about 10% health or lower, but we didn't wipe due to that. My feeling is that the DPS weren't properly positioned. Unless Cata dungeons are totally different regarding AOE dmg, pretty much only the tank should be getting hit. Raids are different, but Wrath dungeons were cake as only the tank took hits if done correctly. Is this different now? It seemed that 2-3 people had aggro and were getting slapped around - I wonder if it was the tank not being used to tanking it Cata yet.

You can Hex too which is nice. As a priest I can Mind Control and bind undead (useless in almost all the new cata instances). MC is probably the most unrealiable of all the CC out there though.

You gotta treat these instances like raids. You mark your targets so everyone is on the same page and you shouldn't have too many issues. Stonecore has a few places where trash has some AOE that is tough like those big rock guys that spawn the geods and the boss fights can be tough if the party doesn't understand the fight. I know on heroric Stonecore is pretty hard. Luckily you can skip the first boss which helps and also carefully skip lots of the trash.

It is nice now that most people running random herorics are getting geared. The first few weeks I only got through like one random. Recently I get my daily in with little issues, especially if you run with guildies. I love when I can get in a group where either Paksie or Saniel tank... then it feels like I am running an old LK heroric.

Yeah, my run was with Varju (of course). He had only tanked 3 or 4 instances so far, so he was rusty. He marked targets, but kept forgetting about my cc as the healer. I told him I'm good to cc as the first few seconds of any fight have me only worrying about positioning and not healing.

Once we got the rhythm all was well. I'd love to run with San, but Varju and I have been a tank/healer combo for the entire Wrath expansion. Although healing is much more stressful now.....not sure in a good way, either. I think I'll find myself swapping to DPS whenever another guildie is available to heal.

They made it a lot harder to heal because it was generally so easy to do so in Wrath, outside of the harder raid bosses. I mean, I couldn't run out of mana except for Arthas, and the reason I was so low on him was dps death that strung the fight out. That said, it's way harder to heal than it is to tank, and it's harder to tank than it is to dps responsibly, and too many dps can't be bothered to do that. It's irritating. I've been leveling a holy cow to be a healer Horde side, cause I don't have one and because I don't know a ton of healers that side.

Got Superior last night (items at...I think its 333 or better in each slot) and the slow climb to 9000 achievement points continues. I'm about out of easy points though.

Having fun so far, still. I do wish they could do something about Tol Barad, though. That place only changes hands if the defense is completely stupid.

I've had my 'lock at 85 for a couple of weeks now. I'm taking it slow because I have had an unbelievable amount of grief getting geared! I'm finally able to queue for heroics, but after days of trying and only getting groups with idiots I've become disheartened with Cata. :( I think I'll wait till other people are more geared, haha. I'm apprehensive about leveling my other 80s because of this reason too, and because most of them are healers so it'd be even harder... woe is me!

I somewhat do not mind it is a bit tough. Heroric should be hard. I am not sure it should take hours to clear an instance. And if I do clear something so hard, 70 Valor points is like a slap in the face. No idea when I will be able to buy my first piece of Valor gear as I am only up to like 620. Anyway, it is getting better so don't be disheartened. And don't heal (unless you know the tank) until you feel ready. I keep saying I will switch to healing once I hit 90K mana unbuffed. I think I am at 85K now.

Verbal did Varju try walking into ICC again? I hope we are good to go for Wednesday.

The problem is that Wrath spoiled people pretty badly. Unless you were a brand new 80 in quest greens and some blues, or you were doing the Halls of Reflection right after it was released and pre-nerf, pretty much everything could be rolled into a ball, mass-tanked an aoe'd down. Heck, even a good chunk of ICC trash could be done that way. No CC, no thought, no discussion, just pull pull pull. I did 10-12 minute heroics all the time, not talking about the really short ones either. Having trash that can and will kill the tank even with good healing was a bit of a shock to a lot of people.

The boss fights in heroics had very little in the way of random damage abilities that could threaten even a decently geared clothie. So lots of people stood in the fire and got used to it. I think that partly contributed to why so few people got Firefighter or Yogg+1 or Freya+3 (the hardest Ulduar hard modes), or cleared ToCr in heroic, or cleared Arthas - heroics weren't preparation for raiding at all in Wrath, aside from helping you attain gear with badges.

Heroic Stonecore for example: Ozruk destroys a lot of PuGs. He's not actually all that hard aside from the sheer amount of tank damage, he just requires precise movement from tanks and melee. The number of people who can't grasp things like RUN AWAY or MOVE IF HE IS FACING YOU is astounding. Same with Corborus: DON'T STAND IN THE DUST CLOUD OR YOU DIE. There's not much to that particular command. And yet people still stand in the dust cloud and get eaten. I saw a shadow priest (his first time, so there was some excuse and it didn't happen again) take a 67k hit from Corborus and die from falling damage on the first burrow.

I've been tanking and healing a long time in this game. Standing in the fire annoys me more than just about anything else in the game and almost inevitably draws a rant from me. Sorry about that. /hides
