I hope that answers your question, Cloud.

Yeah it does, thanks.

I profusely apologize to the game for being late.  I don't check this board daily and wasn't expecting it to start until next week.  Thanks to Darthe for finding me.

I will get caught up as soon as I can.

Welcome to the game!

My thoughts up to this point:

My role claim is what it is - you can like it, dislike it, do whatever you want with it. I'll admit to knowing zilch about Kingdom Hearts, which I'm sure will come to light sooner or later, so no use in pretending otherwise.

I've been pretty vocal about talking at night. That's on record. I like things that are on record - it makes it really hard for a player to spin later if something comes back to bite them on the ass. Great way to catch scum.

I'll take another stab at explaining my feelings on the differences I see between making comments and making cases.

1. As anyone goes through the game, they'll see things that they find scummy and things that will strike them as town. I like to make comments about these things - it puts 'em on record. It also is a way to highlight something that others might have missed, which I always appreciate when i have to do a quick read-through, etc. it's like a little note to throw in a file...

I especially like ot do this on D1 when there is no confirmed info to go on. Our only advantage is to get people talking, get them on record, and hold them to what they say.

But, taking notes is not casing or voting.

Specifically, I did not vote Wombat. I never had any intention of voting him. I'll antagonize him to no end because I know where he cracks, but to be fair, he was giving the same back - and for the same reason. I'm wary of him right now and he's on my suspect list, but below others.

Also, because it has been mentioned a few times - my switch to vote Darthe was for exactly the reason I said it was. His posts have been of little to no game value and mostly consist of discussing other's play without any real analysis of motive, which is to say that he gossips a lot and then admits to making pointless posts while claiming that he has a reason. He's pulled this at JN a few times and it has been a complete disaster for whatever side he was playing on. At the time I voted him, there wasn't a train with more than three votes, so I figured other's might be interested in seeing him go as well. I stand by my vote.

As for being accused of "fearmongering" ( I believe by Wombat) I pointed out the deadline because we need info. I'll tell you that from a Town perspective, it was a mistake to not lynch me - the Town needs info, and without it, we're going to lose. Missing any future lynches is a sure path to a Town loss.

I've tried to say all of this as flat as possible. It's just information. We need it to win.

I'll address the emo stuff in my next post...

Emo stuff:

I was going to quote Despo a lot here, but It's probably better just to make it short and sweet. This is a game. Nobody is actually interested in hurting other's feelings or making things anything other than fun.

Having said that, it's a game where players are required to lie, to deceive, to try and prove opinions and sometimes even bully their point up to be as visible as possible. I'm certain that nobody is interested in pushing things past a point where somebody says that they are truly offended or hurt - that's completely unnecessary, pointless and not in the spirit of the game.

But, I would not recommend this game to someone who knows that they are oversensitive.

My playstyle involves sarcasm and flourish. It's just how I play. I'm active, I'm loud and I will absolutely rattle a few cages to get reactions. I figure everyone else is doing that as well.

I don't care at all when people try to meta me, stereotype me, try to pin me down, etc. It's all part of the game. I'll do it back. I'll use colorful phrases, compliments, insults and pictures to do it.

If anyone ever suspects that something has gone too far, PM the mod and say so. It's the mod's job to keep things cool. Anything said in the game thread is just part of the game and considered playstyle.

Des, I find your playstyle to be whiny. You also keep mentioning the last game and my criticism of your play - let it go. I've seen you play well, and I've seen you play not so well. Just move on. we all have good games and bad games, that's just how it works. Play the game your in...

I'm oversensitive, but I do ok, lol.

In the interest of fairness and clarity I would like to note that this is in fact an Advanced game.

I described it as "relatively basic" in the past. This was to mean you would not see roles you've never heard of because I made them up nor game mechanics such as those used in later games like the location changing. This game was meant to be a "calm before the storm" type of deal, to let anyone who may still be relatively new to mafia get a chance to play in a more normal game before we dive into games where we leave what's normal far behind. That's my hope anyway. This game is Advanced and everything after this is Experimental.

While I don't disagree with Des on the short days, it is Nol's game to do what he wants.  The guy won't sabotage DM mafia to prove a point.  Well, maybe a little.  But the fireworks will be pretty!

I don't believe it.

Basic_Game.lookupRole(Beloved_Princess) = -1

Huh?

I'm a code talker.

Beloved Princess is not generally a role for a Basic Setup which I think Nolder mentioned this first one basically is.

Sorry, that should have been "Pagliacci"

Slightly off topic but any time I hear the name Pagliacci I am reminded of the "clown joke."

Johnny AND THE CLOWN

Johnny is poor and has been all his life. He doesn't mind it much, except for the fact that every year when the circus comes to town, he never gets to see it. The years pass and every year he watches the circus come and go with a tear in his eye. Then one year as the circus is leaving and he once again experiences that feeling of loneliness and desperation he makes a vow to himself. "Next year," he says." I'm going to see that circus if it's the last thing I ever do."

The next day he applies for a job at a supermarket stacking shelves. He gets this job and works his heart out. He works every night stacking shelves, earning money. He spends very little, and saves heaps. He is the best worker the supermarket has ever seen. He puts up a company record streak of 42 employee of the week awards in a row.

A year passes, and the circus comes to town.

As soon as the gates to the circus open, Johnny races up, first in line to buy a ticket. the excitement overwhelms him. He walks around the circus. He sees the animals, the freak show, buys a hot dog, plays on the clowns. And then he sees it, what he's been waiting for all these years...The Big Top.

Johnny races into the tent and takes a seat. Pretty soon the tent fills up and the show begins. It's a packed house and the buzz is electric. The dancing horses come out, then the elephants, then everyone's favorite, the clowns. The clowns run around and do their act making everyone laugh. When all this is finished, the head clown - a world famous clown known as The Great Pagliacci - picks up a microphone and says "Now we'd like to pick a member of the audience to help with our show."

All the lights go out and a spotlight circles the crowd. and, as luck should have it, it lands on Johnny. Johnny is ecstatic, he nearly shits his pants with excitement. He can't believe his luck. The head clown comes up to him and says..

"Hey mister, are you the horse's head?"

"No." Johnny replies.

"Are you the horse's ear?"

"No"

"Are you the horse's tail?"

"No"

"Then you must be the horse's ASS!!!!"

And then whole tent erupts into fits of laughter all at Johnny's expense. Everyone is laughing, except for Johnny. After all that hard work and dedication he has just been humiliated in front of his entire town. Angry, embarrassed, humiliated, and with tears welling up he makes a second vow then and there that the next time, when the circus comes to town, he'll get his revenge on the clown.

As he's walking home, still fuming from the humiliation that the clown caused, Johnny thinks of ways that he can get back at the clown. Death, violence, poisoning....and then it hits him. Johnny will give the clown a taste of his own medicine. Next year, Johnny will blast the clown with the biggest insult ever!

The next morning Johnny flips through the phone book looking for someone who can help him with his revenge. Then he finds an ad.

INSULT SCHOOL

Sick of being picked on? Come to our school and soon you'll be verbally attacking people with vigor!

'This is just what I need!!!" says Johnny. So he rings up the school and enrolls the next day.

So every day Johnny goes to the insult school, studying hard so he can learn the best and most harsh insult so he can get back at the clown. On top of this, he still stacks shelves at the supermarket to get the money for the circus. Day in, day out Johnny works his tail off honing his craft.  He has become a master of comebacks.  He never loses an insult battle.  His insult talents have far surpassed those of any that might have been able to teach him more.  He has become a legend in certain circles and some call him the "King of Quips" or the "Sultan of Sting."

All along Johnny has been following the circus through the paper to keep tabs on the Great Pagliacci.  In his research he is able to uncover a pattern that will ensure he gets the justice he needs - the spotlight ALWAYS stop on seat C-19 - the very seat Johnny had been sitting in that fateful day.

Finally, after three years of immersing himself in insult education and planning his revenge, his day arrives...

As soon as the circus opens it's gates Johnny barges to the front of the line, pushing people out of his way hell bent on revenge. He demands a ticket for seat C-19 and throws $5,000 down at the ticket booth.  Stunned, the teller ruffles through the tickets to find ticket C-19 and presents it to Johnny.  He gives the ticket seller the money, snatches the ticket and storms off with a smirk - revenge would be HIS!

He sees all the regular acts. The animals, the freaks, the clowns. He's so excited that he goes into the Big Top an hour before the show starts, just so he can get a good look at his seat. The tent begins to fill up and the show starts...

The dancing horses come out, Johnny yawns. Then the elephants, Johnny tries to stay awake. And then the act Johnny has waited and dedicated THREE years for, the clowns. The clowns run around and do their act making everyone laugh. Johnny wonders why everyone is laughing, it's the same routine they have been doing for years now. When all this is finished, The Great Pagliacci emerges.  Johnny's mouth goes dry.  Pagliacci picks up a microphone, exactly the same as three years ago, and says "Now we'd like to pick a member of the audience to help with our show."

Johnny sits in anticipation of what is about to come next.

All the lights go out and a spotlight circles the crowd. and, as "luck" should have it again, it lands on Johnny in seat C-19. Johnny sits cool, calm and collected. Pagliacci comes up to him and says..

"Hey mister, are you the horse's head?"

"No." Johnny replies flatly.

"Are you the horse's ear?"

"No, I'm not the horse's ear" Johnny states as a matter of fac.

"Are you the horse's tail?"

"No, no I'm not the horse's tail" Johnny replies defiantly.

"Then you must be the horse's ASS!!!!"

And again the whole tent erupts with laughter. Except for Johnny. He sits there staring straight at the clown, a look of pure evil and hate on his face. His eyes red with piping hot coals of rage.  The laughter quickly dies down as everyone knows something is going to happen. The crowd watched. This is Johnny's moment. The moment he has dedicated his life to for three long years.  Johnny slowly rises to his feet - never breaking eye contact with Pagliacci, cocks his head to the side, he takes a deep breath, looks at the clown and says...

I'll post more in a bit in response to what I see happening and players setting up meta, etc. But for now, I'm the Beloved Princess.

Is this real right now?

Posted

Our Yates, just a heads up that this place is PG-13 so you can't use the F word, funny though it may be :p

You'll get fussed at like I did.

Posted

We should have killed the beloved princess.. Seriously, I almost wouldn't mind throwing the game to kill Mish and Tina for that level of BS.

...this place is PG-13...

So... why am I here again?

I *did* put it in spoilers.  Maybe add an NC17 warning?  My bad...

Posted

:p lol it's not a big deal to me like tht I just know that some would be more.. Impolite in how they chose to share that info with you.

Lets kill DRP and have a party?

You're awfully keen on my demise. i find that amusing given that I've at least contributed to the game (even according to you) and all you've done is wave your ass around. Did you think you might get around to posting any game content, or are you just going to continue to dazzle us with your awesome remarks?

(That's sarcasm, btw. It's the opposite of Despo's humility.)

You keep saying that I'm not doing things, but I have found what interests me thus far and am working towards it's Demise.. I would consider that productive.

I said you are not contributing. Players who find what interests them and "play towards its demise" are mostly scum in my experience. But you get on with your bad self.

Debating this is pointless. I don't much care what your standards of contribution are, my only aim is to help my team win and I will do so however I can.

The level of irony in this post is almost unbearable.
