I don't think they've heard of masochism, Cindy.

This is why we need more Jews.  I took my masochism in with my charoset and matza as a child.

the rest of them have better jobs and stuff :(

Okay, I've not read this whole thread, but the majority of the arguments I've seen against day one claiming miller, is that it makes the claimee a target (and usually gets them killed), and nullifies scum hunting (and creates wifom scenarios). That's kinda ridiculous. Day one lynches are rarely the bastion of scum hunting, day one lynches are MEANT to set the scum hunting scene. There is very little scum hunting that can be done until you have a mod-confirmed role/alignment/ability to work with.

Revealing as a miller on day one is likely to raise the discussion level, and further future scum hunting past what a normal-day-one-crap-shoot-lynch would, whether they lynch you right off or not.

I'm not saying that I'd reveal as a miller on day one every single time, but the fallacy that it would hurt the game is just that--a fallacy. People whineifom all the time, but wifom doesn't really exist. People vote on what they believe. They believe one thing or another, or commit to nothing. Revealing as miller doesn't create wifom, people create wifom in their own heads; and to fix that they just need to commit to a belief, or commit to testing a theory, or hang back. There's no need for wifom to ever bother anyone. If there are two opposing options, figure it out. Don't whineifom. Wifom is a product of personal indecision.

I tend to agree with that.  WIFOM is pretty much unavoidable in any opposed binary decision.  I probably wouldn't flat out claim miller D1 unless town were up against deadline with very little going on, but i might try to get myself lynched from the start so as to try to remove my role and provide less artificial information than I would by hard claiming.  Then again, I usually prefer not to hard claim regardless of my role :P

I prolly wouldn't claim either unless I saw a good opportunity to make something out of my reveal; but death in mafia isn't a bad thing either.
