This is a rather quiet celebration...

 

National Old Rock Day..but*holds up hand*

 

today is also the day the typewriter was patented...think about it...the first keyboard....

Rocks.

The foundation of our earth.

WIthout old rocks, we wouldn't have old buildings. Rome would be a really boring place to visit without all those old rocks. And stonehenge would just be some field in Britian.

Without old rocks, we wouldn't have Led Zeplin, Aerosmith or the Rolling Stones. We would be stuck with all the new rock bands. After a certain age, they would just disappear.

I'm sure ya'll can think of more.

I like rocks, some of my favorite places are covered in them! Paetric has mentioned a bunch, and I like to spend 2 weeks or more a year climbing others.

 

Rocks are the foundations on which we build our lives. They were here before we came and many will still be towering proudly above long after we are gone!

Just for some interesting FYI....July is National Anti-Boredom month; Hot Dog, Baked Bean and Ice Cream month as well..

 

Now don't snicker to much at that anti-boredome thingy...I read about it.(sounds like Hermione huh?)  and it has actually been around since the '80's growing out a a concern and work with Depression!  No kidding...they caution that when you have a friend who say's they are bored alot..to check on them..many times boredom is born out of depression and the lack of motivation or interest to do anything....

 

other highlights to anticipate in July...Nationalal Juggling Day, Nude Day, Cow Appreciation Day, stick out your tongue day and junk food day..among others..those just stuck in my mind...*grins*

 

Today though..is Cheer Up the Lonely Day.  Maybe take it as a goal this week of something to do...take a shut in neighbor a cake or salad, send a card to an elderly relative or friend, drop of cookies to a Care Facility..give someone a call and say hello!
