Not really concerned with what goes on in the Orgs myself and I don't think it would be wise to tell them what to do even if we could.

I think we just have to look at the reality of the situation and adapt this board to the environment.

Games are going to continue to happen 1-3 at a time in the Orgs so I think up to 4 more here is too much.

I think either ONE game at a time (alternating between advanced and basic) or one of each at a time makes more sense than up to two of each at a time.

My game was quite active. It had 24 players and only 3 replacements - one of which was completely unavoidable. It managed over 3000 posts.

We only have 1 game on at a time. And we don't start sign ups until after that game has finished.

The Orgs are managed separately and what goes on in them is decided by their Org Leaders.

In the BT we actively encourage our new Members to learn how to Mafia. It's a big part of making new friends. And we have all our other Games too. But we are all very active and involved in our Games.

Our Games fill up quite quickly and are reasonably active and they have a nice atmosphere, for a cut throat, do anything to win type Game such as mafia - and we have worked hard to get it that way.

If you want new people to play, and old players to come back, and current players to stay active - you have to work at it. And do some encouraging and stuffs.

And offering bribes. That generally works too.

And chocolate.

I think we should do a trial period here on the main board with only 1 of each game for a while, and see how that works out. And everyone recruit their friends!

orgs are seperate from this board.  what this place offers to players over the orgs is the gaurentee of a balanced game when you sign up.  but yes i will say that the amount of games ran in the orgs does effect this board.

one thing i will say, is that the orgs running games used to be a problem; we used to have 5 orgs outside of this board running games, and this board would average 2 Advanced, 2 Basic and a Fast all at the same time.  not to mention people from this site also playing on MJ.  what happened, players stretched themselves thin, inactivity became a huge problem, games stalled out and people started quitting.  this also happened to be when DM 7.0 switched over to 8.0; so we were also dealing with almost a month of DM crashing and not being able to play.  we got to DM 8.0 and within a month the solution was reached to overhall the Mafia Forum and limit the games on DM to this board.  all but 2 orgs stopped hosting mafia games, and even then the BT and SG didn't host games for a good handful of months. now the BT and SG regularly host a mafia game, which has its pros and cons but is not the main problem.

sometimes i do wish the orgs wouldn't run games there, that all Mafia games were limited to this forum. but, the benefits to the Orgs running the games outweighs that.  when a game is ran in an org, people who normally wouldn't be exposed to Mafia are exposed to it.  imo, Orgs are responsable for majority of our new blood. and new blood keeps thsi game alive.  so i'm against restricting the orgs from runnign their games so long as they dont go buck wild with the games.  the BT and SG both have mafia players as their Org leaders, well respected and vet players i might add.  they care just as much abotu the game as we do and wont let their orgs harm the over all mafia game playing experience on DM.

the problem is when players get impatient and want to run their game NOW, but see the long line in the que and decide to line jump by taking their game to an Org.  theres a reason why they say "patience is a vertue", so cool your grits, wait in line and in the midterm sign up for other games to get running faster and active.

another possible thing we might want to see about doing is seeing if the org's that run games will let us advertise our games on their board when we have signups; like their game runners advertise their games on this board.

another thing, this forum is a sub board tucked among alot of other sub boards.  so our Mafia forum doesn't really jump out and say "HEY GUYS I"M HERE" unless we point people to it.  ya'll that are in the orgs and playing in the org ran games; make sure to mention to the players over there that dont play outside of their orgs that games are ran at a faster and larger rate over in this forum.  in otherwords, recruit the org players to our board.

this way, the Orgs get them hooked, and we keep their habit fed

We don't mind links to sign ups on our Main Board :)

We will spam them within an inch of their lives though lol. BT members generally do this anyways.

And our queue is ridiculous long. No one is going to get their game going faster by moving it to the BT

I totally agree with you Red; mafia in the Orgs makes for more new blood. My first experience was the annual HP mafia in the WT; and several of those who play now started out there, Time did at least and I know several others tried it out more after that one game.

I´m not sure we need to do something at all. We just wait for the sign ups to fill up and then we start new sign ups. We just have to wait for players to fill the games, no matter how long it takes, and then the next one can start. I´m sad that many people have quit playing but I´m happy for the new players. Some of them have become good players after just a few games. I think that many, like me, have realised that it´s good to not play many games at a time and that is good for the activity. I rather see a few good, active games than a lot of slow games.
