In a vampire game? I'm sure there's recruiting, but not cult. Based on Len's flip, it's obvious that mafia recruits, not cult. And hopefully, with Len dead they lost that ability. I'm going to operate on that assumption regardless.

Can you explain why Len's flip means that there's a mafia recruiting team?

Also, I realise that you may not have actually tried to lynch Mish, but you certainly thought she was scum. Now you don't seem to.

@Ithi, I'm giving Red the benefit of the doubt and allowing her time to make her own decisions. According to her in our QT, she still hasn't read the entire thread yet. I laid out my cases to her, but then stepped back and let her do her own thing. It's impossible to keep a leash on the Bulldog anyway. If she deviates wildly from attempting to work together, we'll go.from there when the time comes.

@Panda, I'm not voting Mish because after Day one, I stopped attempting to link her and Cloud together. I admitted on Day two that the whole thing was concocted to get the game moving and out of the joke phase. Afterwards, she handled herself better and in a more pro-Town way than Cloud did. I mean, c'mon, dude claimed Sensor, the ultimate scum fake claim. That by itself is all the case you need. Sensor....ha!!

The reason why I think Len was the recruiter is from his lynch post. Darthe indicated that he was "the man himself" and the "head vampire." I'm paraphrasing, I can't quote from the tablet, but you get the idea.

Part I: On the Subject of Turin and Recruitment

I like this post from Turin:

See I already have my case on you so don't need to make another one over the joke. I find it interesting that Kae got killed last night. An unconfirmed lurker that missed two deadlines. Especially with a claimed flavor coo, doc, sensor and two masons out there. Very odd. Also based on the scene no one else got poisoned last night. I wonder if there was a way to protect against it or they tried it against someone that was immune.

I think this post from Turin really nails what's making me feel uneasy. Our nightkills have been very strange. Sakaea was not a factor in this game. On night two, TGlems of all people died. Why not kill JLM, BG, Cloud, Mynd or Ishy? The most obvious answer, as far as I see it, is that things are not as they seem. BG may have been recruited the night after he claimed; Ishy or Mynd are also good targets for a recruiter. BG has also 'confirmed' Turin and Basel, and so they would be good targets, but it would be strange for Turin to keep bringing up the topic of recruitment if he had been himself recruited.

The question is, then, how many people are we facing? I have no knowledge of the flavour, so I don't know if there's likely to be a third party or not. I know from experience, though, that it's not uncommon for there to be a cult in mafia games, and they're the ones who normally recruit. We have no evidence of a cult so far that I've seen - certainly nobody has flipped cult. However, nothing from the mod excludes the possibility, and Turin's hinted that his role has something to do with recruitment. A cult would have started on day one with probably one member, and if so would have by now extended that to four members. A recruiting mafia team is a little bit different, and not something I've come across often, but who knows.

My point is, the possibility of recruitment in the game means that we can't trust any individual claim, unless they've been made by a person who's flipped townie. That's not to say that I'm suggesting that we lynch people as soon as they claim anything, since we wouldn't get anywhere if we did that. The information we had on Day One from people would have been the most reliable, but it's likely that up to three people's alignments have changed since. We have 12 people remaining. It's conceivable that if we lynch one today and the mafia kills one more tonight, we could lose the game today by lynching wrongly.

The consequence of all this is that I'm not trusting claims until the person is confirmed by mod flip.

Part II: On the Subject of Who's Scum

The main wagon at the moment is Cloud. I'm starting to like the idea of lynching him to test his alignment, though I'd prefer to lynch somebody that I think is scum, since as stated above we can't afford many more mislynches, if any. I haven't been able to follow the argument for Cloud's being scum, unless it's something to do with him and Mish on day one. Ishy seems to have forgotten about Mish for now, though, so it can't be that. I'd be willing to lynch Cloud for consolidation, but it all feels way too easy.

Ishy wants to lynch me tomorrow, but isn't saying why. That's an extremely convenient play for a mafia or otherwise anti-town person to make, to say the least, and I think that if it weren't for BG's reading (which, according to the above reasoning, I'm ignoring), he would have been called out for it by somebody else. The whole Mish thing is strange, too.

I'm starting to feel suspicious of the Dice/Ithi slot again. Apart from being the initial vote on Lenlo, Ithi actually did nothing to push that lynch. She did succeed in diverting things away from Basel, Cloud, and JLM, although Tress also played a part in that. The way she was twisting the whole guns/teeth thing at the beginning of the day also doesn't sit well with me. Given Dice's play, I'd be willing to vote for her.

Why have we forgotten about Mish? Let's not forget that early in the game she said she'd have no problem voting for Cloud if she thought that he was mafia, even while showing no signs of trying to discern whether or not this was so. I think she's voting for him now, but that could very easily be busing.

Tress, Red, and Kaylee I have no reads on. Red has made an impressive showing, but I don't think Turin's scum. Tress played an active role in lynching Lenlo, but has otherwise been inactive. Kaylee has mostly stayed in the background. I can't think of anything specifically anti-town or scummy from her...

So: unvote, vote: Ithi. It wouldn't surprise me she was on a team that recruited JLM.

Grrr ... I got Fireclouded. Luckily I don't trust DM one iota and so copied my post before I pressed Post.

I will try again

You don't really mention JLM/Smiley as being on your 'definitely Mafia' List, but then straight out say that JLM was recruited. If you thought the Doc had been recruited, would you not have said that. I mean a recruited Doc is a pretty bad thing. i would think you would have clearly included him in your list of mafia.

You have certainly been lurky enough to be Mafia, and your case on me is just a parrot of what Tress said before. I just have to decide if you are Mafia trying to cast doubt on Smiley, or if you really did recruit him.

But now I have a 51 minute call to listen to, which will completely drain away my will to live. Unfortunately alcohol is not allowed at work, so I'm just going to have to get through it the best I can.

Len was The Man. I see lol. When is deadline ... in hours. I don't work on American time.

@ Ishy: Mmm. I still don't know if I accept that the mafia will not be able to recruit now that he's dead.

@ Ithi: Urgh. I don't know that you're definitely on a team that recruited JLM/Smiley; I meant to put an 'if' in there. If Tress made a similar case, I don't know; I do recall that she cast some suspicion on you, but you should know me well enough to know that I don't need to parrot others.

In fact, I'm feeling worse about Ishy now because of his attempts to downplay the recruiting threat.

Unvote, vote: Ishy

Since Darthe has clarified that I can use this:

One I said over the weekend to my daughter:

"Honey I need you to lay down so I can plot on who to kill"

Kaylee, who were you plotting to kill?

Vote Kaylee

Panda; nice try linking me to Cloud and saying I'm bussing him. I'm one of those most in favour of his lynch and have said so clearly, and why. You've gotta do a lot of skimming; there was at least two pages of discussion about this very recently. It's gonna come back and bite me hard in the ass tomorrow if he flips town, but I'm ok with it, as long as we get confirmation on his claim.

@Red and her case on Turin... I gotta say Red, I've never understood your thing about casing before you've read through the whole game. It just makes for confusion. I'm not trying to point fingers at you now or saying you're suspicious because of it, it's just the scond time I've seen you do it and it retracts from the actual situation here and now and makes for a messy game.

But you were Lynched there before Night began ... but ok lol. I think you were talking about this game.

I was alive in that game for a few phases actually.

Perhaps Im not being clear. On Monday 8th January, you said that you said this thing over the weekend - but you were already dead in that game during the weekend. Over THE weekend, means the weekend that has just gone. You were not plotting to kill someone in the Basel Game over THE weekend, because you were dead there. I think you were talking about this game.

Ishy, Dracula is the head vamp in this game. Do not delude yourself otherwise. If any vamp has a recruit ability it is him. To try to say that we are free from recruiting is disingenuous. Len didn't flip recruiter. He flipped day doc.

14 hours is about 5 in the morning for me. I really can't be late home tonight so I'm gonna have to stop messing about here, but I will check again before I go to bed ... I really don't want to hammer whilst most of America is possibly still asleep.

Smiley, I have no freaking clue who you voted for in 849-50 so I left it the same.

I recognize that I entirely missed being on here yesterday.  You have my apologies, solid senior classes from 8 in the morning to 7 last night followed by work kept me away  but I am back now and due to that, you all could not have reasonably known the number votes on any individual.  Thus I am extending the deadline by 22 hours, giving you a current 36 until deadline.  I hope this helps.
