Games are boring so went ahead and read what has happened this day. I will say to Testy, you might want to reconsider that playstyle. Of course it is your choice. I hope you continue to follow the game and guess along about who is mafia and who is town. In some game sthe mod sets up a separate QT thread where all the dead players can talk about the game. I don't know if Darthe has/will set one up for this game since most already can still talk to their mentors I assume.

I have a question for everyone. If you were in the mafia team and you could choose three roles for the town to have which of the following would you choose and why?

Innocent child: MOD confirmed town player. can either be confirmed at game start or after they PM MOD and ask them to do so.

Jailkeeper: each night can jail one other player. doing this protects that player from all actions and prevents that player from taking any actions.

Tracker: each night can choose one other player and see which other player(s) that player visited

1-time cop: on one night can view another player and learn their alignment

2-shot vig: on two different nights can shoot/kill another player

Since I asked I will give my answer first. enclosed in spoiler tags so I will not influence you.

I would choose Innocent Child, 1-time cop, and 2-shot vig. IMO Jailer and Tracker are more powerful town roles, especially in a game with no doc and no full-time cop.

Innocent child is just a confirmed townie, which is good near end game but is not active in searching out mafia

the cop only gets one view and sometimes those get wasted on a townie that is just acting weird.

Vigs often shoot townies creating WIFOM. also mafia can try to fake claim vig easily in a game like this.

Wow, you posted fast Turin! I would say your three selections seem to make sense, but I'm not familar with all of the roles so other people might have a different opinion.

Yeah Mish and Davrick, thanks for the heads up on the Bold Red thing. I must be going color blind or something.

Without looking at your answers here is what I would say:

I would not choose a Tracker. Too powerful and if they uncover two mafia and then let everyone know that puts mafia at a major disadvantage.

Of the remaining 4 there are two options. If the mafia chooses to an IC, then I might avoid a jailkeeper. This is because a jailkeeper could keep the IC safe and then you have a confirmed townie for the game. Or, you could also avoid the 1-shot cop because this could potentially uncover a mafia which would be a major disadvantage. Tough choice.

Finally, I'm assuming since this is a newbie game the normal rules of "avoid setup talk" are going out the window with you asking that question. All posts are gameplay posts but this topic seems like you are trying to help us newbs think about these things as we learn the game.

1 time cop for sure. The innocent child just depends on what version is being used, as I understand it if the innocent child can choose when to be confirmed, it makes it a much more powerful role. A 2-shot vig could be devestating for either side, I'd have to agree on that as a possibility.

I'm not so sure as you are Starry. This could be trying to be helpful to make the newbs think, wich isn't really his job, but the mentors, or he could be trying to influence town.

But I also gotta say, if Turin is town, then that post from you Starry looks like hard buddying up.

Welcome Turin! As for what roles I would choose...I am not sure. I don't really know how easy it is for towns to track down mafia players to make that call. I really should play more games.

I think you meant me here, not Starrik.

Night went, the wind blew, the clock struck 12, then 3, then 6. As before the rooster crowed and another day began, a day mostly like yesterday except...

The courtyard was filling quickly as the men rushed in to pull down the body, it hardly looked like him anymore. The hanging would have killed him on it's own, bloated tongue and blackened face gave evidence to that. However this needed to be done quietly and so they had given him something first, some toxin that had blackened his veins and made him swell until he cracked. It was horrible. As they pulled his body down, some of the children saw just before their mothers tucked their heads away. It really was him.

Zanibar, regular villager, has been poisoned and hung up.

It is now Day, here is your countdown until Night:http://www.timeanddate.com/countdown/generic?iso=20121129T111347&p0=412&msg=Night+2

With 11 alive it takes 6 to lynch.

Well, wow, that came as a shock, I expected to die during night. Mafia picking off the inactives pool? That smells like inexperienced to me.

I agree, but remember. Everyone is mostly inexperienced and they all have mentors. We cant just blow everything over as newb mafia players this time I think.

Why would you have expected to die? I should re-read, but off the top of my head I don't remember anything that would have set you apart, especially moreso than LZM's power role claim.

This whole post pings hard.

Ok. So here are my thoughts.

I jailed player a last night. Now here are the possibilities as i see them.

A. I cotrrectly jailed the mafia team member who controls their nk. And the town vig took out Zan. A highly unlikely scenario but not out of the realm of possibility.

B. The mafia nk'd Zan in an attempt to discredit my claim in hopes of a speed lynch on me. Highly more likely scenario.

Im obviously thinking its the 2nd option.

With that said im gonna keep a close eye on anybody who tries to build a case on me

Len, I've played enough to not pull a stupid move like that if I was mafia.

This is getting to be the problem with this game. If you play for long enough with experienced players, basic 'mistakes' will be discredited because the player is experienced. FoS on Mish.
