I know! It's not a common name either. Still catches me out when people say Wes on thread. I always think they mean me

Haha, that's awesome Wes.

Bah. Coding got mixed up. It's in tiny print... but I'll write it again...

Dare you accuse me of fabricating the thesaurus?

So you apply the 17th definition given to the word null to fabricate your case? How about using the appropriate first definition? "absent," As in "absent" definitive information pro or con.

I'm still far more suspicious of Peace for not wanting to really discuss it at all.

Oh, I know you're not dictating how the conversation should go... but I never said that.

Oh, but the previous quote just did.

I said that I was suspicious of you for not wanting to discuss it. I am suspicious of anyone who writes off the only substantive information we have as useless.

So, again where did I say useless. How do you leave off the fact that I stated we needed more evidence.

You are awfully quick to paint a target on anyone back.

That was not a dictionary. Refer to my statement... that was a thesaurus with alphabetized synonyms. So, your point about me using the 17th definition is void.

Me saying you were not wanting to discuss something at all is not the same thing as me saying that you were dictating how the conversation should go. Those are not equivalent statements. "We shouldn't go anywhere" is not the same as "we should go to the park."

Twice you said that the information - the only substantive information we had - was a null tell. Saying we need more evidence in a mafia game isn't a very brainy deduction - when do we not need and want more evidence? The point is, this is the information we have. We should be discussing it and squeezing out every possible meaning there. Twice, you regarded it as a useless tell. Null = useless.

Would anyone else like to chime in? The rest of you lot are too quiet.

It can't always be about you, Wes.

From,

Null does not equal useless. Null = no discernable information.

Please tell me what you can squeeze from that information.

Answer me this... do you think the information was useful or useless?

Lily and I (and some others chimed in) discussed it thoroughly and deduced two possibilities; Verb even found the evidence compelling enough for a vote. So, I'd say we did discern something from the information.

I really think that many people just say something is a "null tell" when they are looking to bury or dismiss a thought. Then later they just say we already decided that wasn't important. And it frequently works as the groundwork was already laid out.

Trying to fabricate a case instead of making one. The fact that instead of acknowledging your mistake and moving on, you continue to twist words and state outright lies is making you look very scummy Kate. What's worse is you accused LZM of doing what you are doing.

VOTE KATE

Peace, it sounds to me like you are doing a job of twisting words and fabricating a case yourself here. How does alphabetical order mean that the words listed later on in a list are less significant? Useless was not toward the end of Kate's synonym list because it was less important, it was there cause it starts with U. And I am with Kate on your equating "dictating where the conversation should go" with not wanting to discuss it. You made a point of trying to shove the issue at hand under the rug as not worth talking about, from what I can tell. Which strikes me as also trying to dictate where the conversation should go, in fact... dictating that we should not talk about certain things if you find them close to outing your scummates.

@Kate: are you then saying that we should go to the park? I think it's too hot outside for that.

Wombat's post definitely seemed to say that he is pro-mafia here - he wants townies here dead. Indicating him town over there.

Let's go back to what triggered my wifom/null tell argument. Here you state that wombat is pro mafia in this thread based on his protown statement in the game 1 thread. My point was that scum often make pro town statements (and later clarified that town players do the same.) So if scum and town both make the same types of statements then the net result of the statement is neutral or null or wifomy.

This wasn't hard evidence. It wasn't a gotcha statement by any means. Here was his statement.

Btw. If we see any power role tells in the other thread, (GAME @2) we should point them out so that the other mafia team can kill off the other town's power roles ^^

I added the blue for clarification. Now you tell me, would it be just as easy for a member of the Fatima scum team to make that statement as it would for Javier town player? I think it is. Hence why I called it a null tell. Not enough information is provided yet.

Lily and I (and some others chimed in) discussed it thoroughly and deduced two possibilities; Verb even found the evidence compelling enough for a vote. So, I'd say we did discern something from the information.

Verb later stated it could go either way and was called out on why he voted. Which he hasn't answered.

Basel, I didn't know it was in alphabetical order.

But for your information here is the actual definition.

null

   [nuhl] Show IPA

adjective

1.

without value, effect, consequence, or significance.

2.

being or amounting to nothing; nil; lacking; nonexistent.

3.

Mathematics . (of a set)

a.

empty.

b.

of measure zero.

4.

being or amounting to zero.

So why did she choose to use the thesaurus instead of the dictionary to prove her point?

Verb answered twice, actually. I know. I asked him about it both times (the first time, for the info, the second time, more for clarification.)

You didn't answer my question about whether it was useful or useless information, though... and, if the information is empty or amounting to zero, I guess it would be useless information, eh?

Posted

No Kate. The info could be useful in the future combined with other posts he makes. But I don't think it would be a reason to vote atm.

But looking back the real post we are talking about is NotBOBS post calling Wombat's statement scummy. Am I right about that?

NOTBOB could very well be on team Fatima and be trying to make Wombat look scummy. At this point we don't have enough info to determine that. But later, I agree, putting things together can make it a useful statement.

Was looking to see if anybody would latch onto the "case" and hop on. Also, my impression is that he actually was scumhunting over there. I know there is no real evidence - just my impression. Therefore, I voted him (and also looking to see if folks piled on).

Now that we've discussed this more than I was hoping, that other reason is useless. Not having a better place for my vote right now, I'll just leave it there.

You were right, he did answer, but it looks like he agrees with my impression that the evidence isn't there.

So let's see. Peace has:

A. Accused one person (Kate) of twisting his words while simultaneously twisting her words, namely the aforementioned bit of turning not wanting to discuss it into trying to dictate the conversation.

2. Attempted to dictate the conversation himself by doing what he could to kill discussion on the Not Bob/Womby thing.

III. Misrepresented the facts on Verbal by saying Verb never answered? Or just somehow missed Verb's reply... twice?

d. Evaded a direct question on whether the info was useless or not, at least till just now when it became clear Kate wouldn't let the issue go till she got an answer on this issue. At which point it became obvious even to the scum team that further refusal to answer would just seal his doom, I am guessing.

Not many people are online now are they? I suspect peace will get an earful when they get back though

Lol probably. But that there is a perfect example of a fence sitting post.
