Ok, first this...

Unvote. Vote Mynd.

Ever witness a move that is so saturated in scum it makes your brain hurt? This reeks of a fellow scums last ditch effort to save the skin of a teammate. NEVER post a vote without a description, its almost like a stall tactic to get votes off Basel Gill - however, I'm keeping my vote here.

If Ishy is town, then this is a completely stupid thing to post. At least say you think my breath stinks or something, but the VOTE ONLY post is pure scum.

this feels off to me. it feels forced, and screams of a false claim.

i totlaly agree that theres a good chance that there are vanillas in this game of both alignments, so it's not the claim that pings me. it's more of the way it's worded and the feelign it gives off. that and the emo melt down after just feel forced.

i'm only ify on voting Basel because Mynd is pushing the lynch so hard and my gut is screaming not to trust Mynd in this game at all.

Forced? Yes. False claim? No. If you were town, and facing a lynch, wouldn't you want to do whatever you could to save your own skin? I know this may sound like WIFOM*, but I'm not coming up with any good ways to convince anyone that I'm not scum. If I had some kind of in-game powers, as opposed to mutant powers I mean, I would actually want to keep that quiet. While claiming cop or doc may save my skin today, it would put a sure target on my back at night. And also deprive the town of a useful role, not that it matters to a dead person. So fine, it's just something I thought might potentially be helpful to my case by coming right out and saying that I am vanilla town. It felt like my only viable option at the time, so I would call that forced. It's not like I'm going to blow up a whole planet or anything with some kind of power. (For one thing, I don't have that large a special effects budget.)

Ok, try to follow my logic here. This is X-men mafia. It is highly unlikely that there would be a game about super powers where only two or three of the 12 players in the game had them. How much fun is it to play Wolverine without being able to do anything but say "Hey Bub!"? Nada. The Basic Mafia thing is simply a guideline, more to do with a general rule of how intense or number of players. I know for a FACT that there are roles other than cop, doc, mafia because I have such a role.

Wanna see how it works? Lynch me but be sure to hammer!

So when you claimed to be vanilla town, that was a huge mistake. I don't see any other players claiming to be vanilla town, which leads me to believe you didn't think the town would all have powers, ergo - you are scum.

Now a few words as to my own vote. I've thought a bit about this. BG has been more active the last couple of days in the thread, and I've come to the conclusion that my original logic no longer really applies. Mynd, as Red noted, is pushing my lynching a bit harder than you would expect for town. He might even seem a little overeager. One thing I've picked up during this thread that I didn't know before is that pushing a lynch on someone too hard is usually considered a scum tell. I think Mynd's argument for me would qualify.

Pushing for a lynch is not scum when the person you are pushing the lynch on is in fact scum. This is the point of the game is to lynch the bad guys, or if you are a bad guy, lynch the good guys. One cannot argue that I am scum because I am pushing for a lynch on a player that I am 95% convinced is scum. The other 5% will likely come with the coroner report.

Yes, in fact, but I have yet to successfully convince anyone of said move's scumminess. (And I am not referring to a move in this game.) I do like the turn of phrase, though.

I'm thinking that Ishy's switch of vote from me to Mynd indicates that Ishy is town. Since I know that I am town, regardless of what anyone else says, it follows that Ishy could have either been:

A. legitimately convinced that I am scum, or

2. Ishy is scum himself, and helping to get a townie lynched. But then...

Ishy unvoted me. Since my argument assumes as a given that I am town, scum-Ishy would have no really good reason to impede my potential death. Until his switch, I was still leading the voting. Scum-Ishy would know that I am town, and should want to encourage the lynching of a townie who happens to be in the lead. That isn't what happened... which leaves me with the more plausible option of town-Ishy.

16 hours to go to deadline. I don't like either leading lynch candidate that much. Mynd seems to be claiming bomb or some such thing that will harm the person that places the hammer vote. Making his lynch somewhat dangerous. Basel is only claiming vanilla so even if he is telling the truth it is not a power role lost. My problem is that I think I believe Basel more.

Mynd, I think your logic about there being a bunch of super cool power roles in this game is off base. Maybe you are the one in the minority. questioning Basel's vanilla claim in the way you have is also screaming for people to claim vanilla town. Beside this being against the MODs rules it is not a good idea for multiple vanillas to claim as it just narrows the pool for the mafia to shoot for cop, doc, et al. I find this to be pushing a mafioso agenda.

Since deadline is looming and it is one of two bad choices, I will choose to vote Mynd. His posturing has been to threaten he should not be touched which is putting me off.

If needed I will unvote/revote to hammer. I should be about here a few more hours and then again before deadline.

I'm disappointed no one is following me on Red as I find my own casing rather convincing

oh well, that's just how it is I guess

no sense in leaving my vote on Red if no one is going to follow, that's just a waste

I'm actually fairly suspicious of some of the people on the Mynd train (aside from Red I mean) and I've come to the conclusion that both Mynd and BG are townie so even though I'm not entirely convinced that Basel is scum I think I'm gonna have to join them on his train

Well, thus far, most of the debate seems to be convinced that either Mynd or I are scum. After looking up bomb on the Mafia Wiki, I see that it says that bombs tend to be town. I'm currently trying to figure out how to best adjust my gameplay if Mynd should be lynched and flip town. I think that I will just wait and see what happens.

VOTE MYND

He is one of my top scum picks for thinking everyone has a cool power in a basic game, claiming that Basel is the only person claiming vanilla when just this morning I claimed vanilla as well, and the way he handled BG's PM.

Posted

Just because I know Mynd will ask where I claimed vanilla...

If there are crazy powers out there and if most of the players are roled, there is no way this can be called a basic game. This board has categories set up just so people can run different game types. There are basically three set ups for a basic game that are permissible on this board and none of the have more on the town side than a cop, a doc and a vig. I'm calling BS on Mynd for claiming to have a super awesome power.

Its not fair!!!!!! WAAAAHHH!

Easy sugar. If you are also a vanilla townie, then we need to take this serious. I for one know I am not a cop, doc, or vig, and Im no bloody mafia either. Are you claiming to be vanilla as well?

Indubitably

It's really starting to look like this comes down to a single vote, and a random kill is still looking like a strong possibility. I think I'd be on the edge of my seat even if my life wasn't at stake.

... I would rather not join on the Mynd lynch, thank you very much. This bandwagon reeks of something terrible.

This is odd, though. If Mynd were a bomb, scum wouldn't want to be on the wagon, would they? I mean, if mafia wanted to push a lynch on Mynd... ugh, I'm confused.

I really do get a feeling that Mynd is town, guys. I've been getting the stronger town reads from Nolder and Mynd all game. If they both end up being mafia, I'm going to eat my shirt, I swear.

Didn't someone once mention the possibility of a serial killer in a basic game? I honestly find a serial killer to be a more far-fetched role to place into a basic setup than a bomb. I was actually getting the feeling that Mynd was claiming either bomb or hunter and not jester, but ehhh.

I'm finally getting actual scum vibes from someone, though--hello, Ishy!

I... believe I just contradicted myself in my own post.

I really don't know what to do. I get the feeling that Mynd, Nolder, AND Basel may all be town. (Basel though, ehhhh, he's a newbie so it's been seriously hard to get a read on him for me)

Oh, there we go.

... Well then.

I really really think DM needs a redefinition of game types

I remember I fakeclaimed Miller as Mafia in one of my first games here and everyone jumped on me instantly because of it and I thought that was kind of uncool

like I said earlier I really think there should be something like a third game type

something like this

Basic: This type of game is for learning how to play mafia and getting used to basic concepts and lingo. Accepted roles for this type of game are:

  1. . Recommended players: 6-12.

Standard: This is your standard game of mafia. All types of roles are allowed as long as they are simple to understand and are not experimental or potentially unbalanced, please test those sorts of roles in Advanced games. Recommended players: 12-20.

Advanced: Anything goes mafia! Expect experimental roles, concepts, and game mechanics. This is the wild wild west of game types so balance is not guaranteed. Your game moderator should let you know what level of complexity and balance to expect. Recommended players: Your call.

as a matter of fact I think I will PM this to Verbal and DPR right now

@Nolder: i think the definition is very clear. the setups and roles are clear for all to see in the stickied "how to setup and mod a mafia game" thread, and if im not mistaken it reccommends for all players and/or mods to read it before hosting a game. (could be wrong on the last bit though)

sorry i havent been posting lately- i have been distracted with shcool starting and cant dedicate as much time as usual to mafia :(

anyway, recent events (including a PM I received) have convinced me of BG's innocence. Likewise, i am now VERY suspicious of Mynd. Basel's scumminess so far i am confident to write off as newbness. As for Mynd's claims of a non-basic power, i find them highly unlikely, as Sakaea knows very well the template for standard games and would most likely get told off for including advanced roles in a basic game.

Buuuuuut.....

im too scared to hammer mynd :(

on one hand, i dont want to die, on the other, i want mynd to die since he is scummy, and his claims are so unlikely.....

Sakaea, i will modkill you in my game if i die now because you broke the setup rules ;)
