Well it looks like so far 10 people have posted saying they would like to play. I figure, the queue is pretty long, so it may be a few months before an advanced game slot opens up. It may be better to run the game in spring anyways cause holidays in the winter.

I agree. Holidays shouldn't distract from mafia, but they do *shakes fist*

I'll play if it's hosted when my schedule is free, but I don't know WoT lore ):

If this game is still a few months away from getting started, I would so love to get in. Owen's chemo is going to keep me from Mafia starting on 1/15, so I'm done at that point. But according to the Doc, he wouldn't be trapped in these God-awful procedures for more than a few months. Hopefully, I can get back to playing at that point. And any excuse to play a WoT-themed game gets me going. I wouldn't be involved in Ama's game right now if it wasn't a WoT game. I doubt we can get 60 players but 30-35 may be reach-able. But if we could get more than that, wow. I may have to play on my Nook by his bed (not really, but it's still a game that gets me excited).

If it doesn't start before end June/start July, but also not after end July, I could play. It's because I should have to start at the start of the summer holiday. I don't have time for Mafia now...

I don't know the rules for mafia but you can sign me up anyway. Sounds like it can be fun. Just let me know a week or so in advance so I can prepare (I'm at med-school and am studying hard)

A game like this is a huge time commitment since the game would likely take Months and Months to play out. Plus, trying to get a sub in a game that's 100+ pages long is tough.

I've commented on this previously, the game shouldn't take longer than a month or two tops.

I have played a 17 (or something like that) player game that lasted two months. But many people had two lives there, so maybe that's not really honest. At least I think it could take a few months, with a few thousand posts.

In my game there are no multiple lives because that is silly. Further there are a minimum of 3 kills per game day, with several more being possible. Also several win conditions can be achieved with as many as 18 players remaining alive, at which point said players will exit the game.

At this point in time, I'm interested. But I'll hopefully get a job soon, and then my interwebs will be drastically reduced. So it all depends on RL for me. But I would be really interested to see how the game balanced out.

Sadly it looks like DM is unable to provide the necessary player base, and none of the other WoT fan forums where I asked if anyone wanted to play have responded. Plus the people from my main mafia forum either don't like large games, are busy, don't wanna play a game with a whole bunch of new players because mafia culture clash would cause a lot of confusion as to who is scummy, or dislike WoT.

Still it would have been an interesting game to play and run.

I have a decent amount of players I could contribute, but only a sparse few of them have probably even heard of WoT. /: And they might not be as active in larger games.

I've only heard of WoT because a friend of mine briefly mentioned it to me around a couple of years ago. I'm uncertain if it looks like what I would normally read, though I'm willing to give it a chance once I'm finished with more Walter Moers novels.

Well, the game needs AT LEAST 45 people. Knowing WoT isn't super necessary per say, it may make the game more interesting. The fact that everyone has a power may make them more likely to be active, in general people with powers participate more in Mafia games I've played.

I've read up on mafia games and noticed that I have played the basic game several times IRL, but it wasn't called mafia (even though mafia is maffia in Swedish).

Cauthon, can you keep an active count of players so that it is easy for all to see how many have signed up?

Posted

No one signed up per say, just said they were interested.

Mafia is sometimes known by flavor names like Werewolf, and something else, but I forget.
