Link 1: Red states that kivam is being overly defensive about a joke accusation that jake threw out there. and i completly agree.

i jave just realised that while tinker seems scummy, we must ask ourselves- why would a scum hesistate to lynch a townie? surely he would have jumped at the chance to lynch ishy.

 

that means that since it appears that there is no serial killer, that means he very well could be town, unles another third-party is in this basic game (which i doubt).

1) that a random lynch is better for the town than a controlled lynch of someone who is, at worst, a roleless townie

 

And 2) that gf's death points to me as scum.

 

The second point is amateur hour and doesn't really need to be dealt with. If you're still at the stage of your mafia play where you would take out a lone/vocal critic, theres nothing else I can say to you.

 

On the first point . . . Step back from the game for a second, ameg. How many people in this thread - experienced players and mods - heave said that a random lynch is a terrible idea? Even if you think some of us are mafia, we can't all be - which means that arty lest some players are saying that not as a mafia ploy, but because it's TRUE.

 

More, go look at the mafia grievance thread. players who aren't even in this game are talking about how ridiculous - and bad for the game itself - that thought process is. I can tell you that I am not going to allow you to sign up for any game I run until I see evidence that you've grown out of this stage of your mafia play. The lack of activity around here makes the game boring. Worse, it's disrespectful to the mod.

 

This isn't a mafia play from me right now. In fact, screw it, apologies to my teammates and the mod but the meta issues are really more important here, and I don't want the point to be lost when I'm lynched and flip scum (eventually I'm bound to be investigated; this clumsy effort wouldn't have been an issue). I can't make it any clearer that I'm not saying this as scum looking to avoid a lynch: the way you are playing is wrong, it's bad for mafia, and it's why players like me, and verbal, and others don't bother with mafia on dm anymore - it's become a waste of our time

Yes. It is amateur hour. You don't take out townies pressing you in hopes of easing off the pressure; the death of someone coming after you will only make it worse.

It's not frustration, Min. It's the greater good. I'm going to flip scum, either on lynch or after the game ends. Which means if I make these points without saying "I'm scum", Ameg (and possibly others) will walk away from this game thinking that my points about mafia play were part of some attempt, as scum trying to avoid a lynch, to mislead them. And play on DM will continue to suck, in part because of me.

 

The only way to make clear that they are not attempts to mislead, but to teach, is to make damn clear that I gain nothing from misleading them. And the only way to do that was to out myself. I'm not trying to get out of a lynch. I'm trying to honestly tell Amega that the way he is playing is bad for the game.

 

And yes, random lynches have hit scum before. But using "but it had a good outcome once" as a reason to do it is just as idiotic as going all-in on 2-7 off suit because you did it once and the flop came out 2-2-2. Sure, there's a chance that it can have a good outcome. But the odds are dramatically against it.

no but i did play dprs game and that was amazing. ive also played at myndjacks that was pretty good to. But the only thing ive noticed is that inactivity is a problem other than that nothing. Also i wouldnt care much but he's singling me out over the other people who were advocating a random lynch. Which i admit have never experienced.

Yes, I hate the inactivity as well. Which is why I usually try to vote for the inactives. They just plain piss me off. Either you are playing a game or you aren't. I understand unexpected stuff happens, that is why mods usually have a waiting list handy to replace people if needed. So, after you the inactives are next.
