The thing about reveals is that anyone can claim a role, and mafia will lie. But the players will almost always give the cop or healer the benefit of the doubt, as long as no one counter claims. However, scum will a lot of the time "role fish" which means try to get a useful town role to reveal or almost reveal so they can kill them. Revealing makes you a huge target for nk's which is why most people don't unless they have to. However, it could have helped the town if our cop had revealed, we would have probably stopped the lynch and asked for proof.

Well now I'm in a catch 22. Ya see, last I saw we were at 3 Nolder, 4 Hoof. Still time to go either way, basically even on a vote of 7. I'd prefer Nolder. I don't want to vote Blackhoof. Now Christine ups the ante to 5 Blackhoof and it looks to be the viable consolidation.

it doesn't matter who you're on at the time, you want the lynch to be right

if you think it's on the wrong person make that known and do your best to convince everyone that they're on the wrong guy

the fact that you're worried about how people will see you after someone dies is very worrying to me

you should be more concerned with getting the right person not protecting yourself

 

secondly this whole exchange strikes me as scum asking scum what to do

which is odd if scum has a quicktopic to talk in (as most games on DM seem to)

Wine In Front Of Me is basically logic that is circular and/or confusing

it's actually a bit more technical than that but you can read the details in the article I linked if you want

it's mainly used by the mafia to confuse townies

 

for example if a mafia member is being lynched and says his partners are ABCD and EFGH you will think to yourself "are those really his partners or was he just trying to trick me? maybe he knew I'd think it was a trick so he actually told me his real partners? but maybe he knew I'd figure that out so..." you see? it can just keep going like that forever

there is no point trying to unravel WIFOM because it'll just give you a headache and it's better to look at hard evidence anyway

 

an in game example of WIFOM is if there is a known doc that is still hidden and a confirmed cop

the safe choice for the doc is to just protect the cop

but the mafia know this so it gives them a free kill on the other townies

the doc can then assume that the mafia will not attack the cop because they know the doc will be on him and instead try to protect another townie

but then the mafia realize this at the same time and might try to "give up" their kill and go for the cop since the doc might have taken the risk and WIFOM'd

So, after a few re-reads the main thing that stuck out to me, other than Hoof flipping as cop, was this:

I'm just trying to work out how Hoof's flipping of town was good for you. After the lynch, and when everyone found out the Hoof was cop you say this:

The part I bolded gets me. We just lost our cop and you just seem to brush it off. If it was a vanilla lynch you could say "well and good. Day one, usually a town is lynched". You not realise this gives scum an advantage? Sure, noone knew Hoof was cop until the coroner's report, and his actions did seem scummy during day one, but what gets me is that after it is known you just say something like "Pfff. Whatever".
