Introduction

Hello,

 

So, despite being a WoT fan for a long, long time, I'm only now making my way to Dragonmount. I've been stuck in a smaller, tight-knit WoT community for years. Today seemed like a good day to head over and start engaging with the broader WoT community. Dragonmount seemed like the right place.

 

I'm the Lead Developer and overall Project Lead for the Wheel of Time: Mirrors of the Pattern project (MoTP). This project has been around in one form or another since 2006 or 2007, providing the most canonical, most highly tailored Wheel of Time experience on the Neverwinter Nights platform. I could go on and on about it obviously, but I'm going to test the waters first. Dragonmount has it's own RP community and I haven't guaged yet whether they play well with others or not. :) (Do you play well with others?)

 

I'm here to find out how we can work together with the Dragonmount community. It seems silly that after being around for four years, we haven't rubbed elbows with the largest, most influential WoT community out there.

 

I'm always a little intimidated coming into a group like this. So please forgive me if I commit a faux pas or two in the coming days. I'm sure there are topics that have been talked to death, questions that have been asked to death, etc. I'll try not to humiliate myself or annoy the crap out of any of you.

I have to say this is pretty funny because just the other day I was talking to a friend about the WoT computer game they did years ago... Which wasn't so thrilling... and I was telling him how awesome it would be if they had a WoT game similar to Neverwinter Nights. I've played that game a lot (and I rarely play computer games) and I always thought it would be a perfect platform for a WoT game. So I am really excited to hear about this. It's the first I hear of it (yes, I'm not very much in the know as far as things off DM go).

 

Btw, I'm RP staff (Children of the Light RP Leader)... and I do play well with others... to the most part *grins*

 

No need to feel intimidated. The RP community is very friendly and the RP staff is wonderful (no bias there at all >.>).

 

But yeah, if you need anything feel free to send me a private message. If I can help in any way, I totally will :)

Haha :) Thanks for your warm welcome you two. I'm starting to feel right at home.

 

We feel like Neverwinter Nights (NWN) is pretty perfect for WoT rp too.

 

* It's heavily moddable (our custom channeling system would be impossible without this)

* It's very affordable ($10? )

* It really doesn't require a high performance PC (at all)

* There is now a lot of community generated custom content that helps you get a world off the ground without having to write everything from scratch.

My evil characters tend to be the every day mundane sort of evil. I haven't got the knack of being a darkfriend yet. Something about being found out and hung makes the investment scary.

 

I'm assuming that darkfriends on DM hang out in other organizations like the White Tower and do fun things like plot, scheme, manipulate and perpetrate foul deeds? :)

 

I guess a little new to evil...

yes and there is all kinds of evil too, some are murderers, some just think that sometimes there is a cost too the greater good and the dark side is more efficient in that or some such...

 

not all darkfriends live and breathe to murder all day (though some do), we also have our own group and our own darkfriend places, and since we are a portalstone world in part of the timeline our own area of the world that we conquered (as a portal stone we are an alternate world, so we dont follow the books too the T, but follow mostly the general major stuff, though how they come to happen may differ in our storyline)

 

feel free too PM me if you want, we also have a wikipedia where you can read info, but having been new once i know its easier to gain access too the rp through talking with members, rather then to try and figure it all out yourself (the accesible amount of info there to help when you get into it, can seem intimidating to start with)

Also, if you like the idea of keeping a mundane life and a good cover there is always the Black Ajah. You can still RP as a regular AS of the Ajah you choose but you can be sneaky when the lights are off and do lots of wonderful works for the Great Lord. You can interact with Liitha's crowd and have a hand in the internal take down of the Light's forces too! Like Liitha said, while killing and maiming are all perfectly fine things to do it doesn't have to be all about that and the BA is a great place to strike from the shadows, have a cover and do your destruction in more intelligent/less killy ways. If that is something that interests you I'm the Head of the Black Ajah (SHHHHH its a secret <.<) and my PM box is always open!
