That's an odd question to ask Csarmi. Were you really unsure of what would happen? Where were you going with this question?

i played another game like this, it was an Avatar game where Aang had the same type of win condition attached to his head. another player was trying to discuss on the game thread how we should treat Aang as far as voting for him and keeping him hidden from the scum as much as possible. basically what we could act like on thread concerning him to make sure he stayed un noticed.

 

 

as i said in that game, any discussion concerning Aang was no good, my stance remains the same concerning the innocent in this game.

 

 

for that comment, as well as the role fishing comment; i'm willing to switch my vote to you and keep a sharp eye on Kath.

You can find the info on the Welcome to DM Mafia thread what roles might be included in an Advanced Mafia Game, and so shouldn't have to ask. I think he may have been rooting around for someone to accidently hint at their role, and use that for a NK.

The answer to your question was in the first post, which is quoted below. This seems like a scummy move to make the innocent reveal to the Triad who they are.

 

In this (made up) episode there is one innocent who has information that is vital to the downfall of the Underworld. You have all banded together to protect this innocent. Should the Triad find and kill him, they will take over the world as you know it (and win the game.)

 

On a related note, does anyone have an idea what kind of roles there might be?

 

Also a very scummy post fishing for roles.

 

All I got was that the game setup might be quite unusual.

It doesn't really add up to me, however. I mean, there must be a way to keep the innocent safe from the Maffia. If we had a doctor, however, wouldn't it be too easy though?

 

I also can't picture the endgame with this one-shot nightmare.

 

Since your role fishing went no where, looks like you are now trying to fish out the doctor.

 

For these reasons, I find csarmi very scummy, and do not find your defense of just wanting to start conversation very townlike with the questions you brought up.

An Advanced game could contain any type of role you could think of, and many times will do exactly that! These games are much more complex than their basic brethren. They could contain secrets, triggers, multiple factions, recruitment - you name it. Proceed with caution. ;-)

I have a maths degree. I prefer precise statements and I like to know the rules. Especially as that helps me plan my play.

Having some fun too. You've been joking around posting nothing of merit, why can't I joke around a little more seriously?

 

BTW yes I know we shouldn't let the innocent die, but I have no idea how to do that and as I have no specialty whatsoever, I don't know what's the best way to do that. All I know is that the last game I played there was a random lynch day 1 because no one gathered enough votes and no one seems to be here either. Now the only thing I can do to help ensure that no one important dies is to make myself a target.

1) Myself, i can say nothing from these reactions. What kind of information will we get when I flip vanilla?

2) i don't seem to take being targetted well. Actually I'd kind of pissed of that I'm being voted again (and just in my second game at that). I know it's only the game and I know I had it coming, but it still hurts like hell. I'm supposed to be a group oriented player too but now i don't feel like it.

Alright, to a point Csarmi I can sympathize with you - standing out on day one can just automatically make you a target. Deciding though to make a play to try to spur some activity, you have to know that this will bring some heat on you and you have to be prepared to deal with that - so that means knowing where you want to go with whatever play you make.

 

Im willing to watch and see where you go wih this for a bit. I know from seeing you in another game you are pretty fearless when it comes to making bold plays. But if you're town you have to be careful not to become so much of a distraction that we don't gain any information from whatever it is you're doing.

In that case, I think the purpose of talking about the Avatar was to saturate the game thread with it and hope the mafia spent too much time sifting through it all and not enough time spent on just winning the old fashioned way.

Listen, most people don't like being threatened. Not even in a mafia game. This could be an elaborate bluff to stall out your lynch train, and I'm willing to call that bluff. If I'm wrong, I'm wrong. But I won't be threatened, so there you have it.

That being said, if you blow this game up in the way you are suggesting, that falls very far outside the spirit of mafia, and it will have repercussions. Again, if you're bluffing, bravo. But that's the thing. Lily could've made up entirely new roles for all we know, so it's pretty much PAFO. Asking about roles makes you sound really scummy, as if you're trying to draw out the roled players. And even if you aren't, someone could make a slip and get NK'ed for it.

Sorry for getting myself killed guys. I figured people would see as this is an advanced maffia, there is no way in hell, I'd be acting like this if I was scum. Aust, thank you for your understanding, but I think I simply messed up this one. I did have two ideas as escape routes but my mind is not working very well today + having no understanding whatsoever on how the game is set up, I'm not willing to risk any of them. Also, they looked much better last midnight. I've lost my track midway.

 

I'll just die and I'll have use wasted a lynch. Better than a random, but still.
