I was trying to work out some way of putting in a date-sensitive counter, so that it counts down automatically..

im not sure if this site supports java script but you could use a second counter that keeps going up until it reaches 24 hours and then remove 1 from the number of days left

Not Cheesy at all. I have been able to pick up each book as I finished one this is the first time I have had to wait and the two weeks seem to be taking a LONG time. I dont know how I will wait out the year.

I'm nervous about the release. I live in a small town and the Waldenbooks didn't have Butcher's Changes unpacked and on the floor on its release day, then I went there to get a copy of Salvatore's The Bear and they didn't have it in stock. It took some doing to get John Dies at the End there also (I got my copy of tGS in Charleston SC on its release day, boy do I have stories about what happened after) and after The Bear episode I thought, "screw it downloading a kindle app" but I want to get ToM in hard cover because of all the flipping about I do while reading a WoT book. And I learned the flipping about is a hassle when I read Way of Kings on the kindle app.

 

Walmart doesn't carry these kind of books so I'm afraid I'll go to the Walden books and be told to come back that afternoon, and I don't htink I'll have time to drive to Fayetteville to get my copy.

 

The others from PoD on (except tGS because I was on the road to Charleston) I got minutes after the store opened. I don't want to wait. I don't think I can.

Ah gees, if my library doesn't come through for me this year like they did last year... It'd have to be plan B. (actually buying the hardcover which would require a lengthy drive for it to be that night and it would have to be that night) Last year I got it the Monday before the release date

 

But I need a book, not something digital, and certainly not audio for a first read. I need to have something there to grip in disbelief/anticipation/excitement when Dumai's Wells or The Last that can be Done or "I am the storm!" or "You can't bloody have her" happens. No other book series makes me do that.

hopefully here in sydney we will get it on 2nd november. or sometime around november. i am going to put revision for exams on hold for a few days just to read it and then re-read after exams

Hey GB, I'm in Sydney too and I've been promised that I'll be able to pick up my copy on Nov 1 (Fingers crossed). Luckily for me that's my day off and I'll probably end up pulling an all-nighter to try and finish it. I might just have to take the Tuesday off too because I don't think I'll be able to put it down once I start, my kids are going to have to fend for themselves :-)

Sorry, couldn't resist. Actually I was thinking more along the lines of an overstuffed easy chair, since (especially if it was a borrowed book) my simultaneous reading and bathing efforts haven't met with positive results.
