What Are Parts In The Series Where U Have Felt...Really PROUD of The Characters?

Recommended Posts

Nynaeve for her reaction to Rand balefiring Graendals palace, and pretty much all of her interactions with him in TGS. And the way Rand and Nynaeve both defended Mat to Tuon, the entire Two rivers villagers thing came back strong in that scene and I loved it for the fact that even though these people are worldshakers they still remember that connection formed in their childhoods, it is still as strong as ever. Nynaeve became my favorite female character when I read TGS, she has found the perfect balance of Two Rivers Wisdom and Next Generation Aes Sedai.

One scene I haven't seen mentioned here yet is when Nynaeve and Elayne free Egwene from the a'dam.  As Egwene starts to take her revenge on Renna, Nynaeve stops her and says that the best thing is for Renna and the other woman to be found by the Seanchan with the a'dam's on their respective collars.  "That is justice" Nynaeve says.  I just think this is a great scene for Nynaeve's development.  There are obviously several other Nynaeve scenes that have been mentioned here, the Golden Crane chapter from KoD really stands out.

Another powerful scene for me is also from Great Hunt, the redemption of Ingtar.  "No man can stand in shadow that he can't come to the Light?" he asks Rand.  Powerful scene.

There really are a lot of these moments, but in thinking about it the ones that seem the best to me are the ones relating to non-major characters. One that sticks out from TGS is when Tuon calls Beslan out on his planned rebellion. And then he stares down the DotNM in her own court, with her da'mane to his one side and the Deathwatch Guard on the other, and starts "I will not allow my people to -". Yes, Beslan is a bad-ass. He then handles the rest of the encounter by placing the needs of his people above his own patriotic pride, gaining them the greatest measure of autonomy and safety possible, like a rational and adult diplomat.

A lot of characters have grown into their own over the course of tWoT, but Beslan's moment of defiance and awesome really stands out for me.

uhm Tam (anytime lovedh ow the forshadowing of EotW about tam being a constant like a rock that refused to move in a flood came into effect with cadsuane)

A Cup of Sleep

Rand when he hears Rahvin killed morgase and his shame at not moving sooner

when moraine jumps through the gateway and rand runs away and cries and a maiden comes and talks to him about how it is not shameful to cry infront of others

when rand stands up to Cadsuane and tells her to f*ck off forever or he will twist the pattern to kill her! that was just so kick @ss

I loved that one too, but you can't bring that up and not say anything about Dain Bornhald after the Battle of Emond's Field. Both scenes made those minor characters suddenly seem as human as the main characters. :D

I got one, in the Law of War chapter I think it is. Romanda or Lelaine, can't remember which, is being

snotty with Egwene, "perhaps you'll tell us what the great wealth of your experience tells you to do. About

the war, I mean. Mother".

And egwene smacks her hand on the desk and snaps " a certain amount of respect is required towards

the Amyrlin Seat, daughter, and from now on I will have it".

Very satisfying.

Nynaeve proving there is NOTHING that cant be healed!!!

Egwene for admitting she lied to the wise ones.

Rand and Nynaeve (and others involved) for cleansing saidin

Mat for saving Elayne ect even after they treat him like dirt.

Leane for not beating Siuan to a pulp in general.

Siuan for honoring her debt to Gareth (no matter how much she moans about it)

and Finally Brigette for being awesome and being Elaynes warder and also likely the only person apart from Morgase and Lini who can put her in her place!!(maybe Egwene but Brig will do a much better job)

Rand giving Ingtar the Borderland funeral blessing as he went to lay down his life for the lads to get the Horn to saftey.

When one of the Asha'man, either Dedicated or Soldier, (and his name escapes me at this point), comes to see Rand after Weirmon (spelling?) launches the war on Illian prematurely and Rand is in bed after Fain's attack.  When they are discussing events and Dashiva points out that it would be suicide to go against Sammael in Illian, the Asha'man points out they could still save the men fighting at the Forts.

At the end of The Eye of the World, when Rand finds himself in no-man's-land between the Shienarans and the Shadow, he sees that men of Shienar mustering for once last charge.  They were out numbered and bleeding, yet were about to lay down their lives.

When Lan, knowing whom he faced was Lanfear, did not even blink as he drew his sword, the sword of a lowly soldier in the Age of Legends, and borne proudly by the Kings of Malkier, and charged Lanfear.

I'll think og some others :D!

One of my favourites that hasn't been mentioned here yet is in TfoH. Faile is being bitchy but when she explains to Perrin why Loial's rooms are full of flowers.

They are gifts from the women and children. He gathered as many of them as he could into a room and defended them during the attack.

Its an off scene occorunce that I would love to read. I can only imagine Loial carrying frightened children and leading thier mothers into the room and then standing in front of it ears pulled back defending those who could not defend themselves.

A Cup Of Sleep

TPoD

“The Wisdom in my village could cure anything,” Rand said as he knelt beside Fedwin. Somehow, he managed to smile at the boy without taking his eyes from Taim. Fedwin smiled back happily and tried to take the cup, but Rand held it for him to drink. “She knows more about herbs than anybody I’ve ever met. I learned a little from her, which are safe, which not.” Fedwin sighed as Rand took the cup away and held the boy to his chest. “Sleep, Fedwin,” Rand murmured.

It did seem that the boy was going to sleep. His eyes closed. His chest rose and fell more slowly. Slower. Until it stopped. The smile never left his lips.

“A little something in the wine,” Rand said softly as he laid Fedwin down. Min’s eyes burned, but she would not cry. She would not!

“You are harder than I thought,” Taim muttered.

Min in that scene. She sits alone with a male channeler who have just snapped and gone completely bonkers, and manages to keep her cool, and convince him to play with wooden blocks instead of starting to rip stones out of the wall. And then she stays with him until and can come and deal with him, where most people would have lost it and run screaming towards the door.
