Well, she can wear the a'dam and control and train damane. We know she CAN channel. Will she choose to? It's a good question, but personally don't think she will. (not fact, just my feeling)

She doesn't choose to chanell. She may or might have to do so. That's the real question... what then???

P.S.

I am a beginer on the writing skils, but I shall try. I am better on the other english skill (STANAG 3 on listening, reading and speaking, but only STANAG 2 on writing... I think I''m just leasy, don't like grammar and spelling)

I think she will channel... to save Toys life...

She has already saved him once, because he refused to kill a woman...

I think Toy will get himself into a situation and Tuon will have no choice but to channel to save him...

It might... but I don''t think so. I asked then what would had happened with the Empire?

Her home land is in chaos, the type of chaos that happened right after Hawkwing died, those who are with her are what remains of the Seanchan empire, i.e there is no empire anymore. With TG months away at the latest and the possibility of her being able to go back to Seandar and consolidate her power over there, it would mean very little if she were to start doing things with sadar. Her word is law, if she so chose to it would be during TG. She knows that every Sul'dam is like her, a person that could learn to work sadar, and going by her conversation with the AS, she knew before comming to Randland. This is probly one of the secrets held by the Highest of nobal houses there.

So in conclusion it wouldn't make a dent in anything because of the chaos going on in the homeland and also the fact that TG is fast approaching.

I don't think she will/can.

Most wilders do only simple things, which the people close to them hardly even notice. To do truly great things with the OP you have to actively reach for the source & Sul'dam don't know how to do that until they're taught by the WT or other active channelers (& the chances of Tuon going there to learn are very small).

Even though Sul'dam start seeing weaves after a while does not mean they can make those weaves themselves. They don't know how to touch the source without the 'help' of a damane.

Compare it to driving.

I know I can drive! Yet, I've never done it before, but I'm convinced I can (almost everyone can). I've sat next to people who were driving & after paying attention for a while'I'm starting to see recurring moves & actions.

Does this mean that I can just step behind the wheel & start driving? I know I can drive and I've seen other people do it! No. Even though I've seen the actions & results & even though I know that I can, I've never done it before myself & I'd be a danger on the road without lessons. I can drive, but I don't know how yet. I might forget to turn on the ignition or press the wrong pedal or <enter another important detail here>.

Sul'dam can channel. We & they probably all know this, but they don't know a minor detail which is rather important if you want to channel & that's how to reach for the source. If they were sparkers (like damane) that'd be less of a problem, since the source would eventually come to them, but they're learners , not sparkers & if they had been born in Randland they might have been fishermen's wives or innkeepers or anything else, but they would have never touched the source & even if they grew very old (for a non-channeling person, let's say 80 since there are no modern medicine, retirement homes & cardiologists in this setting) they still wouldn't even be able to see the weaves.

Rand has Channeled without anyone to teach him, there is no reason to think that Tuon couldn't do this as well especially if the need arose.

Also Tuon can see the weaves, Rand could not, it would be easier for Tuon to channel her first time since she knows the weaves the Damane use.

Rand first channeled in a high stress situation from a pool of pure Saidin. Some could argue that this was the soul of the Dragon remebering to channel or such and such, and after he had Asmodean to teach him.

If Tuon manages to use the male adam on Rand, he might 'force' her to channel when he gains control (if the adam is attached both long enough).

Semirhage might have suggested (to Tuon) using it on Rand before Mat kidnapped Tuon.

What would happen to the Empire if Tuon channels (if they find out)?  There are at least these possibilities::

-they changing their mind about adams

-they making her a damane and replacing her

-the issue becoming a civil war

I thought Rand first channeled on the road to Caemlyn? When they were stuck in a storage room and a bolt of lightning hit the wall getting he and Mat out of there, plus he had the first time channeling sickness afterward.

I think the first time Rand channeled was on the Quarry road on his way to EF. I mean a Fade came back down the road and stopped right across from Rand And Tam. If Rand didn't channel then why didn't the Fade see them? They can see like eagles in dark or light. And he was close enough to the road to see it in the dark. Plus it was still winter so there was no cover but bare branches. Then later he channels again to make sure Bela can keep up. Then later in Baerlon the sickness came out with the WC.

Back on topic; I believe that Tuon may snap (do we have a word for when a wilder begins channeling?) as she may be young enough to be a sparker but not have sparked yet, but this is very unlikely.  We did see one of the suldam with Mat snap (I do not remember which) so we know that it is possible but highly unlikely with experienced suldam.

I wonder if it is possible to force a learner to spark. If so this may have something to do with Rand binding the 'Nine Moons' to serve him.

The whole question is interesting--Fortuona has a strong enough sense of duty to try and leash herself should it happen, but what of her duty to the Empire? The damage of having a sitting Empress leashed would be terrible.

Rand is a sparker, which means he really had no choice. Sparkers either channel or die (AFAIK).

I don't that Tuon is a sparker (this means she must be a learner) & thus your example doesn't apply.

i disagree. look at the former sul'dam still with mat. both of them independantly channeled to make the aes sedai train them. seems to me that they can very easily channel on their own.

The previous empress used to link male and female channelers for sport to watch them die. I don't think such a link would be survivable. Tuon refers to the idea as a waste of damane.

Fortuona won't turn herself in as a damane. She knows she could channel if she took the time to learn to, but as she explained it to Mat, she chooses not to, so it's alright.

However if a woman is a sul'dam long enough, each year that goes by makes it easier for her to touch the true source. Those tenured sul'dam are just a biscuit away from actually channeling. The sul'dam that were with Mat were tenured sul'dam that were already extremely close to just being able to channel. They chose to have the Aes Sedai teach them to channel, rather than being leashed and treated like crap. They realized that they couldn't go back and be sul'dam again.

thats a not hungover clearer way of saying what i meant:) are sul'dam likely to just randomly start channeling? doubtful. but theyre right on the cusp, with enough knowledge of the power, that it likely would take little effort to take the next step i.e. actually channeling
