If I was mafia it would be a good tactic, but there's always the risk of the real one calling your bluff. I guarantee you, any counter claims are from scum. This sort of move is good in practice but awfully hard to pull off, because so many of us have seen those tactics and look for them. Like you just said did :)

[glow=red,2,300]Thorum[/glow] it is then with the usual (and already stated by Lav) caveats about voting Lav tomorrow if he's not scum.

Go with your instincts! We almost had Thorum on the ropes during day one, why was that? Why did we back off? Who was most vocal in defending Thorum? There we will find our scum, people!

VOTE THORUM

And welcome back Al. Sorry bout the whole lynch thing, hope there's no hard feelings and all that. Heh.

I will go with your theory Lav and [glow=red,2,300]Unvote[/glow].  And vote for [glow=red,2,300]Thorum[/glow].  But your post seemed to just be saying lets try for him because we didn't lynch him yesterday for whatever reason.  You could have posted something a bit more convincing to get people to listen to you without revealing instead of what you did say and then getting all huffy when no one followed along and few even voted of fos'ed you for it.

Aemon... would you believe me if I said that would be a really stupid idea?

Not through my entire reread yet, but here are some thoughts pinging me right now.

When the bandwagons were just beginning, it is possible that the Mafia decided to split up to avoid bunching up.  I think that, as the bandwagons formed, there was at least one on each, in order to make them more appealing to other voters.  This would fly, even if a scumbag ended up with a bandwagon going.  You may lose a teammate, but if you do, one of you looks innocent for at least one more night.  And if another bandwagon looks like it'll be successful, you can jump ship.

The Crusher jumped on the Thorum vote right after me, citing my reason and adding the "gender's hard to tell in a robe" joke.  It amused me, and didn't ping me at all.

Then, when Thorum's bandwagon is starting to pick up steam with 5 votes, we get this (page 22):

This game is moving slower than me.  I keep reading and the more I read the more I think we need to decide who we can kill and get some info from it.  Hard to hit scum first day but some people here are starting to "bunch up"' date=' a lot like my sweatpants.  Why do some people call sweatpants gym  pants.  Seems awfully assumptive to me.  I have my vote on Thorumn but only because he has a hard time remembering people gender and for being overly handsome.  Not very good reasons.  I sorta have boobs, so Im having a hard time staying committed to my vote.  I need a snack.  [/quote']

To the paranoid mind, it reads as if The Crusher is trying to excuse himself from a bandwagon that might result in a lynch if he doesn't flee.  (When it happened, it didn't ping me at all, as I felt the same way.)

Three pages later, when Alys votes for Thorum, we get this from The Crusher:

Easy target no?

I don't quite see the point of calling into question someone for jumping onto a bandwagon when you're on the same bandwagon with them.  (As a note, Barm agreed with the sentiment, and he had the first vote on the guy.)

Page 27, after Anox votes for Thorum, Crusher defends him:

Anox?  What exactly did Thorumn post that is pinging your radar?

Being one of the voters for an individual is not the best place to defend from.

Jeran votes for me on the same page, citing a desire to consolidate votes, but not on Thorum.  Interesting.

With 5 votes to go on Thorum, The Crusher abandons ship to go back and re-read.  Barm abandons the same ship a couple posts later to go after Anox.  One page later, there I go, switching to Al after a reread and a quiet radar ping from his post, amplified by DPR's analysis and harassment.

Night-time, and a lot of questions and a lot of personal attacks over several pages that I don't need to reread because I read them either yesterday or today.

My conclusion: I'm going to go ahead and stick with my vote to see if it does anything.  If Thorum is Scummy McScum-scum, then I'm curious to see how The Crusher, Barm, and Jeran turn out.

If not, then Lavi is getting my vote first thing on Day 3.

Most of this post isn't argument.  It's more of a line of thought from the beginning to page 42.  Anyone else pick up anything more concrete (or better-worded)?

And disregard that first line.  I thought I would post what I had, but changed my mind.

That I think Lav could have handled that a bit better than "why didn't the lynch on Thorum go thru?"  Maybe because it was random day one crap like voting for someone because they are handsome or because they thought you were female?  She just simply said a day one bandwagon should be picked up again.. no real reason why she suspects Thorum... she coulda come up with something.

And then when no one was following her lead and a few were even suspicious of her for it she says in big bold letters that he is scum and we are crazy for not seeing it and that shes 100 percent positive and half claiming.

All I was saying is she could have convinced us better had she not just suggested we go after the day one bandwagon again just because it didn't pick up enough steam yesterday.  Then she wouldn't have had to do the little half reveal thing and outed an important role.

Does that make any better sense?  It made sense in my head.

Can you come up with any half conceivable reason to go back to a dropped bandwagon, dropped because it had no real strength or basis? I couldn't. Certainly not my most subtle move, I'll give you that, but I'm actually out to SAVE the town and LYNCH the bad guys. What good would it do the town if no one believed me, and I was lynched as a result. (Note, Nae, your exact reaction.) Call me lazy, but it's done. Lynch Thorum!

Quibby I'm absolutely baffled how much thought you put into my day 1 vote.  I voted Thorum to add steam to his bandwagon to see who would jump on.  That is why I kept asking people who followed me why they where voting.  I sat their and watched one senseless vote after another and Im shocked people are still trying to lynch him today.

I did take time to re-read but the4-5 pages of bickering offered me nothing more than a headache.

So I will catch up on the stuff posted this weekend, weekends are hard for Crusher because of my 5 crusherettes. (children)

Lavinya maybe I missed it but why are we lynching Thorum?

1.  I have no idea what the heck you are talking about, Aemon.  I know what?

2.  [glow=red,2,300]Thorum[/glow]

lav, would you in the least drop the super defensive tone and tell us why you checked thorum over everyone else? that likely would have been the place to start once you decided to claim. even if you do not case, and you should probably make the attempt instead of claiming, it gives you at least a place to start. demanding is going to, and has, grated people's nerves. especially when you jumped in making it sound like a shot in the dark.

quibs jumping in at your beck and call does not sit well with me, atm.

there is still a lot going on here, i am still thinking about what i have seen and waiting for al to say anything. i see several targets at this point.

I had no one really pinging my radar, so I decided to see if the bunch of votes that were against Thorum for being vaguely scummy had any basis, for lack of a better target that wouldn't be totally random. And bingo, I have a winner.

Thats not a terrible answer.  Make sense to check the person with the most votes rather somebody totally random.  So the question is whether or not we believe your a finder.  Obviously this is the point in the game where a real finder wouldn't want to come forward.  So your either fishing and killing an innocent or your actually a finder.  Not a great scum play because if Thorum is lynched innocent you would surely follow him the next day.  No?

Why would mafia sacrifice one for one?

Posted

Exactly! It's not a good mafia play anymore because people are smart and look for that. I'm innocent and Thorum is scum. Don't believe me, I'll even vote for myself straight up day three! :)
