Twilight Saga

One of my friends got the Twilight card game for Christmas so we all just started playing it. It's really stupid and the basics are you roll a die, even you get asked a trivia question, odd you get asked a group activity challenge of some such. You get a card if you answer right, you win by having 8 cards.

So there were 6 of us, 2 who didn't know anything about Twilight, 1 who hadn't watched the movies but started reading the books, 2 who watched the movies only and one who watched em and read the books.

I was one of the ones who didn't know anything about it and started making fun and saying the real winner is the one with the least cards. Some how I won the friggin game, half trivia half challenges. And the other guy who didn't know anything about the series tied for 2nd.

So either I just rock, or I read/watch Twilight while I'm unconscious. I'm still unsure which. Oh, and the game sucked but it's a time killer.

The books and movies are geared toward teenage girls.  I have read all the books.  I found them passible.  The last half of the last book was actually pretty good.

Now I have seen the first movie.  Keep in mind I have high standards for my movies.  I kind of expect acting.  The movie was bad.

Twilight is the worst vampire-book ever written, it almost reaches goodkind-level of suckiness. Poor language, retarded story, and quite annoying that the "writer" uses the "story" to spread her fundamentalist religious views.

Go read some Anne Rice instead.

I've read the books and seen both movies. As Emp said, the books were written for teenagers. With that foremost in my mind, I didn't think they were that bad. I'm also not really looking for much when I read something for teenagers. I simply look to be entertained, and I was. The fourth book in particular, and I found myself really enjoying it. My husband, brother in law, brother, sisters (though they are teenagers), and sisters in law also enjoyed reading it, for whatever that's worth. People putting their religious views into a story doesn't bother me in the least, since I'm secure enough in my beliefs to read someone's opinion, respect it for theirs, and walk away from it.

The first movie was really bad--though the soundtrack was amazing.

The second movie compared to the first is TONS better, but the acting is still horrible. They need to desperately fire their screenwriter. That being said, Chris Weitz (The Golden Compass) did a FABULOUS job with the special effects and cinematography. He definitely made the most of what he had to work with. I'll give him that big high five. Soundtrack was not as good as the first movie's though, which really makes or breaks a movie with me.

I second this.  I add, however, that even though I had a desire to see the first movie, I have little to no desire to see the second movie, even though I've heard it's better than the first.  That's how bad the first movie was.  I've heard that if you see the movies before the books, they're better.  Just something to keep in mind.

I third this, as an actress myself, not of the Hollywood variety but of the community theater and grew up around it variety, I expect you know...acting. Both the "actors", and I use the term loosely here, who played Edward and Bella were terrible! They were so bad I cringe everytime they are on the screen. Jacob was a good actor and sadly he couldn't carry the first or second movie on his own. The guy who plays the dad in the movie, Bella's not Edwards, is also a good actor. Actually most of the supporting actors were good my biggest issue is Edward and Bella. Edward has one "look" throughout the whole movie! Both times! *sighs* Bella is so unbelievable that when she was crying over the loss of Edward I didn't believe her at all. I also didn't feel sorry for her, whoever is directing the movies needs to get her into some acting classes.

I read twilight in less then six hours, I enjoyed it and was looking forward to reading the others but after that they just went down hill. I skimmed the last three books rather then "reading" them. Wow I like to use "". Anyhow I guess it just depends on if you can handle a book geared toward teenagers with religious undertones. *shrug*
